Altered Playing Cards!

 Hi Crafty peeps!

Can you believe we are already into May!

Today I am sharing some altered playing cards - I haven't altered any cards for some time - I have been mostly doing art journal pages.

To create the backgrounds I added some scrunched tissue paper to the card and sponged some distress ink around the edges and across the card. I used clear gesso and the "Monarch Journal" TCW stencil available in store: click here. Once dry I added some black liquid acrylic paint and spritzed. And to finish off the background I used the text stamp from the "Correspondence" Stamp Set available in store: click here.

Next I added some elements to the front of the cards to finish off. I had some fabric butterflies from my stash and Tim Holtz paper dolls along with these stamps from the store: "Gothic Garden Flowers" by Miss Rach, phrase stamp from the "Fashionista" Sheet at IBFS.

Quick and easy vintage feel altered playing cards!

Spring Fairy Altered Clothes Pin

Hello all,
Spring is beginning  here so I have a Spring themed altered peg  (clothes pin)
to share using stamps from The Blank Page Muse.

Products used:
Docrafts Giant Peg
Resin Flowers
Lemon Brusho Powder
Green Faux Moss

Instructions:
Paint the peg in gesso.
Once dry, stamp over with the brick wall texture in red ink.

Mix yellow Brusho powder with a small amount of water.
Paint it over the peg.

Stamp out a fairy and a flower onto card.
Colour in with marker pens.
If you do not have a colour chart, write the colour number onto paper with the corresponding colour so you can see how the colours work together.

Cut out the images.
The flowers are taller so glue a hat pin onto the back to hold it up.

Glue green faux moss onto the top and then use blobs of glue to hold the images in place.
Add tiny flowers and butterflies to finish

Key to my heart

Hi Everyone,
This time of year is all about family and friends. This is my little homage to having friends that are really family and how lucky I am to have them in my life.

Blank Page Products Used:
Small Crackle Stamp
Floral Medallion

Other Products used:
Distress Inks
Distress Oxides
Distress Markers
Distress Paints
Gel Pens
Archival Inks
Chipboard house shape
Metal Key
Wire
Charms
Chip Quote
Paper Doll
Clear Gesso
Adhesive
Mixed Media Heavystock

Using Mixed Media Heavystock paper blend on several colors of Distress Ink.  Add a bit of distress oxide ink and flick with water.  Allow to air dry to get oxide effects.  Once the paper is completely dry, stamp the Small Crackle Stamp using archival ink.
Using other shades of archival ink stamp your Floral Medallion.  Cut the paper and cover your chipboard shape.Splatter on black and brass paint to add dimension to the background.   Don't forget to paint the edges of your chipboard unless you like the look of raw chipboard.
Cover your paper doll with clear gesso.  Once the gesso is dry color your image.  Stick to the same palette you used for the background.
Glue the family to the chipboard piece and add charms.  Add scribbles all over the front using gel pens.
Cut up a chip quote and paint the edges.  Glue the quote to the backside of the house.
There is a pre-drilled hole in the top of this chipboard house.  Thread wire through the hole and wrap around a key that had been distressed to appear aged.

Not so Fragile after all Art Page

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here and welcome you to my new Sin City Stamps Inspirational Post!
Today's art page is full of bright colors ... a tribute to International Women's Day on March 8.
Not too many people celebrate this day, but for those who do in the world- Happy Woman's Day!

So as you can see the main point of this art page is a saying.
Everyone thinks that woman area fragile, delicate , little creatures who needs men to help her.
Big No!
We are not so fragile as we look.
We are not fragile at all.
So this art piece was done for all the strong women on the earth ! I salute you all!

Product list:
SinCity stamps:
Rosette hearts rubber stamp set- key and heart from this set

Other products:
White thick cardstock
Gesso
Stencils
Acrylic paints in yellow, orange, red, teal and black.
Metalic gold paint
Modeling paste
Black permanent ink
Sticker letters
Spatula
Acrylic block
A brown stained flower
Wooden clock
A 2" circle punch
Adhesive
Random embellishments and chipboard mesh shapes
Black pen

And now as always- here is my step by step tutorial:

1. Prime your cardstock with a layer of gesso. Then use the modeling paste and stencils to make a random raised impression over the cardstock. let this dry.

2. Stamp the face stamp with the black ink onto your piece.

3. Next, stamp the Button over and over with the same black ink.

4. Randomly stamp the hearts using the same technique (no photo for this step).
Punch the circle a bit larger then the face stamp and outline it with modeling paste so the circle is raised around the face.

Paint a few chipboard mesh pieces with yellow and orange acrylic paints then add them to your piece.

Paint the whole page with the mix of the same colors.

5. Apply red and teal paints onto the page. Outline the words with red paint as shown.
6. Out line the circle around the face stamp with black pen. Glue the stickers in place.

Finish with some black paint splatters and your embellishments.

Touch up the flower with some gold paint.
