Always Believe in Fairies

Today I am excited to share my take on this months "Things with Wings DT Challenge! 

The Anime Fantasy Fairies & Dragons II Art Rubber Stamp Set was one of my very first Blank Page Muse Stamp sets and is still one of my favorites!! So naturally it was a "go to" for this challenge.

Archival Ink

Stickles (or other Glitter glue)

Sizzix Shadow Box Die

Distress Markers and Water Brush 

White Card Stock

Graphic 45 Papers

Chipboard Greeeting

Stamp Fairy and dragon onto white card stock.

Die cut Shadow Box and set aside. 

Fussy cut fairy and dragon.  (I originally cut the dragon using circle die from shadow box set but changed it up in a later step. )

Color fairy and dragon with distress markers and a water brush.

 Add Stickles  to Fairy wings and dragon horns. Here is a close up of the finished images.

Assemble shadow box and add dragon to inside of box.

 Finish box and fairy to front of box.  Add Always Believe Chipboard greeting to finish.

Key to my heart

Hi Everyone,
This time of year is all about family and friends. This is my little homage to having friends that are really family and how lucky I am to have them in my life.

Chip Quote
Paper Doll
Clear Gesso

Mixed Media Heavystock

Using Mixed Media Heavystock paper blend on several colors of Distress Ink.  Add a bit of distress oxide ink and flick with water.  Allow to air dry to get oxide effects.  Once the paper is completely dry, stamp the Small Crackle Stamp using archival ink.

Using other shades of archival ink stamp your Floral Medallion.  Cut the paper and cover your chipboard shape.Splatter on black and brass paint to add dimension to the background.   Don't forget to paint the edges of your chipboard unless you like the look of raw chipboard.

Cover your paper doll with clear gesso.  Once the gesso is dry color your image.  Stick to the same palette you used for the background.

Glue the family to the chipboard piece and add charms.  Add scribbles all over the front using gel pens.  

Cut up a chip quote and paint the edges.  Glue the quote to the backside of the house. 

There is a pre-drilled hole in the top of this chipboard house.  Thread wire through the hole and wrap around a key that had been distressed to appear aged.

Hi Everyone,
Jess here today with a little something to keep your page when your book gets too scary to read at night!

Stamp your bookmark with your Ashes of Ex-Lovers Bottle, Mummy Ribs Bottle, and Powdered Cobwebs Pot.  Using your permanent ink, stamp each bottle in a different color and at various angles to create interest.

Once the inks are dry use Distress ink to cover the entire bookmark.

 Layer your bookmark onto various colors of cardstock.

Punch a hole in the top of the bookmark.  Add your die cut skeleton images, words, and your sari ribbon.

For the second bookmark the paper layering will be the same.  Using the permanent ink stamp your Oct. 31 and Spider from the Halloween Bingo Set.  Add in the tiny 31 to fill in the gaps.

  Once your ink is dry create your background.  Cover the entire bookmark using Shaded Lilac Distress Ink.  On your craft mat smoosh on the other two purple shades and spritz with water.  After your have sprayed your water tap your bookmark in the color.  Be sure you only tap it in a couple times.  If you just rub it around you won't get speckles and splats.  Look at your bookmark and see if you like the patterns that are appearing.  If you do, stop and dry your layer.  Once the layer is dry then you can go back and tap into the ink again.  Drying between layers makes a huge difference.

Add on your die cut image. 

Spray your sari ribbon and dry it.  Add the ribbon to the top of the bookmark.

The Perfect Composition

Jess here today.

One of my favorite times of the year is back to school time.  I love school supplies.  Pens, pencils, notebooks, markers, oh my! Today I made made a mini altered composition notebook.  These are great for little gifts and the perfect size to pop in your purse.

Muslin

Adhesive

Cut a manila tag just smaller than the cover of your journal.  Stamp the pens from the Correspondence Set, Sequin Waste, and the Typewriter Keyboard in Jet Black Archival ink.  Don't worry about empty space because you will be covering it with your photo.   Use various shades of blue DIstress Ink to color your tag. 

Stamp your sentiment from the Soulful Words Sentiments set.  Use a different shade of Archival Ink to add interest.  Rip the edge of the tag and color it using a Distress Crayon.  

Use a piece of vintage sheet music to cover the front and back of your composition book.  Add you tag so it is right up against the spine.  Using the Tim Holtz 3d embossing folder make your border and glue this on top of the book.

Using the script from the  Correspondence Set stamp a piece of muslin using Archival Ink.  

Spray the muslin with Distress Spray Stains. Dry with your heat tool.  Glue the muslin to the spine of the notebook. 

Adhere a photo booth photo that has been colored and stitched to the cover. Add a vintage paperclip for added visual interest.

Layered Artist Trading Coins

Jess here today.

Have you jumped on the Artist Trading Coin bandwagon yet? They are super fun and quick to make.  Today I will show you how I made a bunch of coins using a single sheet of cardstock.

Circle Punches

Start by stamping your largest images on a sheet of white cardstock. Using masks, made from post it notes, add your smaller images until you have filled the entire sheet.  

Using the two and a half inch punch(this is the ATC size) randomly punch out circles.  

Once you have punched as many circles out as you can go back with smaller circle punches and punch out more.  Use as much of the paper as possible.  

Here's an example of the different size circle punches I used to create the coins.  

Use Distress Ink to add color to your coin.  Flick water to create drips and splatters. 

Don't forget to ink your edges!

Layer your circles together and glue them down.  Don't feel you have to use the entire circle.  Experiment with your layers.  Trim the circles up if you like.  

Add word stickers and highlight areas using gel pens.

The Golden Days of Travel

Hi Blank Page Fans,

Jess here today.  

Remember when people used to get dressed up to go on vacation? You never used to see people on airplanes in pajamas and yoga pants.  I can't imagine these ladies not looking put together.  I pictured them shopping in Paris and sending a postcard to a friend back home.  

Here are the supplies you need to gather to create your own postcard.

Archival Ink in Coffee and Hydrangea

Distress Collage Medium

Distress Markers

Distress Collage Paper

Distress Ink

Cardstock

Stabilo Pencil

Clear Gesso

Let's get started!

Stamp out your main images across the postcard using Jet Black Archival ink.

Create masks, using post it notes, and stamp all over to fill in white space. 

Once you have finished stamping your background use Distress Collage Medium to apply Distress Collage Paper to various areas of the postcard. 

Add your paperdoll and color in the dresses using Distress Markers(to make sure the ink stays on the image coat your paper doll in clear gesso).   Add Distress Ink to the edges to make the postcard appear to be vintage.  Use your Stabilo pencil to add shadows around the paper doll and around the edges of the collage paper.  

Turn your postcard over and add the Script and postmark stamp to the back.  Use Distress Ink to age the paper.  Color in the postmark using Distress Ink. 

Just like that your card is complete.

It was really fun to see how many stamps I could add to the collage feel of the card.  I haven't done a masking technique in a long time and it was fun to play around with it again.
