Take My Hand Walk Beside Me

 Hi Crafting Friends!

I've been doing a lot of art journal spreads for the past few months which I get a great lot of satisfaction from.

Today I am sharing an art journal inspired by @art_journallove - I have been watching a lot of inspiring videos and trying a lot of new techniques.

I've used the following products available in store:
Monarch Journal Stencil by TCW
Take My Hand Walk Beside Me set includes phrase, sun, eagle

I used the Monarch Stencil and paint to create the background on the page.

I stamped the woman's head, eagle and phrase on white cardstock and cut out.
The sun was stamped on acetate, heat set, fussy cut and painted with white on the back.

I then arranged my elements and adhered to the page along with some mark making to finish off!

I love the look of limited colours on this page.

Altered Playing Cards!

 Hi Crafty peeps!

Can you believe we are already into May!

Today I am sharing some altered playing cards - I haven't altered any cards for some time - I have been mostly doing art journal pages.

To create the backgrounds I added some scrunched tissue paper to the card and sponged some distress ink around the edges and across the card. I used clear gesso and the "Monarch Journal" TCW stencil available in store: click here. Once dry I added some black liquid acrylic paint and spritzed. And to finish off the background I used the text stamp from the "Correspondence" Stamp Set available in store: click here.

Next I added some elements to the front of the cards to finish off. I had some fabric butterflies from my stash and Tim Holtz paper dolls along with these stamps from the store: "Gothic Garden Flowers" by Miss Rach, phrase stamp from the "Fashionista" Sheet at IBFS.

Quick and easy vintage feel altered playing cards!

Wrong Way

I took this picture while strolling Santa Ana in the Art District one afternoon.
I wanted to use my Urban Grunge stamps on a journal page
and chose to use a photo I had taken myself as the main subject.
I printed it on plain copy paper and glued it to my art journal page with Liquitex Matte Medium.

I added paint on the opposite side of the page using colors that were in the photo, that way, when painting over my printed image, it blends through to look as if one painting.  I used both acrylic paints and Art Anthology paints.  I wanted the paint to be semi transparent in some places so the photo would show through.  Art Anthology Paints are transparent so this was the perfect tool.

I collaged some Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap,
some Washi tape and decorative hole reinforcers around the two-page spread.

Then, I added another layer of paint unifying everything.
I stamped the Do Not Enter stamp from the Urban Grunge Stamp Set
with the White Daisy stamp from Close To My Heart.
It's a pigment ink so I added clear embossing powder over it to heat set the image.
I also used the Wrong Way stamp from the Urban Grunge Stamp Set.

I used Art Anthology's black Stone Effects with The Crafter's Workshop stencil.
I love how it's so gritty and thick.

Here is the full two-page spread.

I hope I have inspired you to create something today.
Until next time...
