Fall Sunflowers

Hello September!  School buses are running again, the weather is changing, my annual county fair is in the past. Hope you enjoyed the summer months!  Sunflowers remind me of Fall. They are also one of my favorite flowers. Today the centerpiece of my card is the Sunflower and Dragonflies Art Stencil.

In addition to the Sunflower and Dragonflies Art Stencil The Eyes 1 Stamp, Learn from Yesterday sentiment and the Steampunk Romance: Digital Printable Papers were used!

Additional supplies used:

  • Black Stamping ink
  • Acrylic block
  • Gold Wide tip Sharpie
  • Cosmic Shimmer Graceful Mustard Glitter paste
  • Lunar Paste Refined Copper
  • Astro Paste Tropical Tango
  • TCW Stencil Butter Olive (not pictured below)
  • Spatula
  • Water
  • Paper towels
  • Glass Dip pen and ink
  • Deco Foil scrap
  • Watercolor paper
  • Paper Scraps
  • Adhesive/dimensional foam/glue stick

Have you ever spent time glue paper scraps, it is one of my favorite pastimes.  I use a watercolor paper pad to glue the scraps.  It is very relaxing, and it doesn't have to be perfect! The paper this project is on is one of my "glue book" pages.

Print the Steampunk Romance: Digital Printable Papers two sheets per page.  This way you are able to shrink the size of the printed images. The eye image and sentiment were stamped on a couple of the papers.

On the watercolor "glue page" stencil the Sunflower and Dragonflies.  The petals are Cosmic Shimmer Graceful Mustard Glitter paste.  The sunflower center is Lunar Paste Refined Copper and the dragonflies Astro Paste Tropical Tango. Let each area dry before adding the next color.

Once the pastes were dry, it was time to add black ink with the glass pen.

You can see that the sunflower petals are outlined with the black ink.  In the first picture above the outline was a single pen line.  For the flower to really standout. a second pass was made with the glass pen, see the second photo above. All the gaps left by the stencil are filled in with the black ink.

The stamped eyes and sentiment are outlined with the glass pen.  You can barely see the glass pen in the picture above.  Then let everything dry before foiling and assembly.

Cut the paper to size, this is a 6 x 6 card. Edge the card front with a wide tip gold sharpie pen.  To randomly apply the foil, gently swipe a glue stick and press the foil on it.  Be sure not to apply too much glue stick or you want it to be splotchy and like peeled paint.

Mount the card front on a 6x6 card base. The stamped sentiment and eyes were adhered to the card with dimensional foam.

Nothing But Owls

Did you know that Fall is called "Hooting Season" I have been reading up on owls, the acoustics are better this time of year as the streams are lower. It is after most fledglings have left the nest and it is time re-establish boundaries after spending so much time at the nest.  Owls are the inspiration for my cards today.

Fall Trees

Fall is one of my favorite seasons, I love the colors of the changing leaves!

The colors are so beautiful.

Today I am taking inspiration from the leaves that have been falling. I took the Bare Tree Silhouette stamp and water colored the picture with fall colors in two different cards.

My inspiration!

Stamps from Blank Page Muse:

Other supplies:
Watercolor paints
Smooth watercolor paper
VersaFine Black Ink
Clear embossing powder
Wide tip gold Sharpie
Gems
Cosmic Shimmer Gilding flakes

Stamp the images on smooth watercolor paper with VersFine black ink, heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

I love watercolors, as you can see one set is not enough!  Paint the ground in greens and browns, let dry. Then paint the sky a faint blue, let dry.

Using a mixture of reds, oranges. yellows and browns for leaves.  Do not try and paint individual leaves, add blobs of color and you will get the effect of leaves. Let each color dry before adding the next, or the colors will blend, and you will have a muddy mess.

When the watercolors are dry, along the bottom of the card place double sided adhesive as pictured.  Cover with Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes. Edge card with wide tip gold Sharpie pen. Stamp THANK YOU with black ink on the car. Add a few gems to the card. Mount the finished panel on black cardstock and adhere to the card.

The owl has leaves flying around the tree giving the effect of a blustery day. When the watercolors are dry. Edge card with wide tip gold Sharpie pen. Stamp THANK YOU with black ink on white cardstock and mount on black cardstock. Add a few gems to the card. Mount the finished panel on black cardstock and adhere to the card.

ENJOY THE FALL SEASON!

Creative Sparks Stamp Set

I just love the beauty and detail of this Dragon stamp.
The pictures don't do the 5 x 7 card justice.
If you love dragons this is a must have stamp.

Stamps used from I Brake for Stamps:

Other supplies:
Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks Festive Berries, Squeezed Lemonade and Spiced Marmalade.
Blending tools
Stazon Ink
Wide tip Sharpie Gold
Cardstock: White & Black
Gold half pearls
Parchment paper
Stamping Platform

Blend the inks on white card stock, start with the lightest color in the middle. then work out to the darkest color.

Using a stamp platform, with Stazon ink stamp the image of the dragon.

Still working on the platform, I used baking parchment paper with lines over the stamped image to line up the sentiment before stamping. This helps to see if I got the sentiment lined up. Then I stamp the sentiment on the parchment, if it is straight, I carefully remove the parchment and stamp directly on the inked panel.

The inked mat was edged with a Wide tip Sharpie Gold, then mounted on a black mat.

Running Horses & Cactus Silhouette at Sunrise

 Horses are beautiful animals.

Horses running free are majestic!

This silhouette of the horses running in the desert against the setting sun is MAGNIFICENT!!

On this card I wanted to create a sunrise.  The horses running with the sunrise behind them reminds me of the OLD WEST.

I Brake for Stamps used:
Horses and Cactus Silhouette
Happy Birthday Sentiment

Stencil from Blank Page Muse
TCW554 Stencil Butterfly Collage - 6x6

Other supplies:

Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks
Squeezed Lemonade
Festive Berries
Spiced Marmalade
Scorched Timber
Blending brushes
White Cardstock
Card base
Water in Spray bottle
Staz-on Black Ink
Stamp Platform
Paper towel
Heat tool
Parchment Paper
Gems

To create the sunrise I blended my Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks: Squeezed Lemonade, Festive Berries and Spiced Marmalade on white cardstock with blending brushes or any blending tool. I started with the Squeezed Lemonade working toward the darker Festive Berries.

Using a stamping platform and Staz-on Ink I stamped the desert silhouette with the running horses. After the set I lightly spritzed the card with water and dabbed it off with a paper towel, then dried with a heat tool.  This gave the sky some interest.

For the placement of Happy Birthday, I used baking parchment paper with lines over the stamped image. This helps to see if I got the sentiment lined up. Then I stamp the sentiment on the parchment, if it is straight, I carefully remove the parchment and stamp directly on the inked panel.

After getting to this point, I found I had a smudge on my panel! I was really happy with the inking and did not want to start over.  I was up for the creative challenge... What do I do to redeem my panel.  Stencil are your friend in this instance.

Using the - Butterfly -stencil,  I gently stenciled over the smudge with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Scorched Timber and then in two other areas on the card. It looks like I intended to add the stenciling. Three black gems were added to the upper left.

The panel was then mounted on a black mat and adhered to a card base.

What do you think of my creative save?

Cactus Silhouette at Sunrise

Good morning my stamping friends! When I saw the silhouette cactus image, I knew I wanted to create a sunrise background to stamp the image on.  I love how the Oxide Inks blend creating an early morning sunrise.

I Brake for Stamps used:

Other supplies:
Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks
Squeezed Lemonade
Festive Berries
Spiced Marmalade
Blending brushes
White Cardstock
Card base
Staz-on Black Ink
Stamp Platform
Parchment Paper
Gems

First blend the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks: Squeezed Lemonade, Festive Berries and Spiced Marmalade with blending brushes.  I always start with the lightest color and work toward the darkest color.

On a stamping platform or acrylic block stamp the cactus image.  I choose to make this a sunrise, so the reddest ink is at the bottom half of the card.

To get the placement of my sentiment on straight I place parchment over the stamped image on the stamp platform.  I like using baking parchment with the lines. Then I stamp the sentiment on the parchment to see if it is straight.  Once I am happy with the placement, I carefully remove the parchment and stamp directly on the inked image.

I necessary trim the edges of the stamped cardstock and then mount on the card base. Add gems if desired.

What do you think of my desert sunrise?  Give it a try!
Until next time, Happy Stamping! ~Lyneen
