Embark on a Travel Adventure

Hello all the Blank Page Muse stamp Fans. We are at the end of July already. Can you believe that? I hope you all are having a great and fun Summer. Here is a Sunset colored postcard I made.
Can't you just see these colors on a hot Summer night as the sun is setting?

 Stamps Used:
Mountains & Beaches set

Other Supplies:
Watercolor paper
Nuance Powers
Cloud stencil
White Paint
Black ink
Washi Tape
Word stickers
Heat Gun
Start off with a 4x6 watercolor paper. Wet the paper and then add your colors of Nuance watercolor powers to it. Make it look like a hot sunset. Use red, orange and yellow . Use a heat gun to dry the watercolor postcard. You can let it air dry if you got the time for that.( not me)
Next grab a cloud stencil and some white paint. Make some clouds on the top of the postcard. Let dry.
At the bottom of the postcard, stamp the mountain . You have to stamp it 2 times because it does not fit all away across the bottom of the postcard.
At the right side stamp the palm tree from the same stamp set. Then add some washi tape.
Stick a strip of washi tape on the left side to balance the finished piece.

Lastly, add swords to create your saying.
Take a fine tip marker and trace around the words to make them stand out.

Now, come join all the fun!

Time Flies!

Hi Blank Page Muse Fans!!
Time for me to share another creation with you!
I've made another postcard creation this month entitled "Time Flies" and I don't think there is a truer statement especially as we get older LOL!!
I wanted a vintage feel but still have a "travel" theme as I have been focusing on making Travel themed postcards this month here at the Blog!
Spread your Wings and "Come Fly With Me" and find out how I created this!!

Blank Page Muse Stamps:
Pocket Watch with Face
Feathered Pair of Wings
Time Flies It's Up To You To Navigate (only used "Time Flies" words)
Art Journaling #2 Set
Seth Apter Baked Textures:
Vintage Beeswax
Patina Oxide
Gold Embossing Powder
Index Card 6 x 4 OR Card cut to 6 x 4 size
Linen Finish White Cardstock
Memento Rich Cocoa Ink Pad
Embossing Ink Pad
Vegetable Glycerin
Distress Ink Pads: walnut stain, vintage photo, tea dye, old paper, lucky clover, worn lipstick
Embellishments: ie. muslin cloth, cotton
Tools: heat gun, scissors, paint brush, sponge applicator for Distress Inks, cotton tip or makeup applicators

Start by gathering your stamps and ink pads. Used here is a lined index card as the lines add texture and age to the look.

Stamp using the "aged brown" coloured Distress inks with the wording and texture stamps from the Art Journaling Set. Use the sponge applicator to cover the unstamped areas with colour.

Use the paint brush to apply a thin layer of glycerine to the entire card. (Glycerin can be used for embossing - not my idea - I have been watching Youtube videos where people have been using it!)

Add the Vintage Beeswax powder to the entire card. Use your heat gun to "emboss".

Add some more glycerine to the edges of the card and apply the Patina Oxide enamel and emboss with the heat gun.

You now have a lovely shiny background and you can still see the background stamping through it plus a contrast colour to border the postcard.

Next step is to stamp our images for the front of the postcard. Using the Rich Cocoa stamp pad stamp the Pocket Watch with Face onto the Linen finish cardstock and fussy cut (here the "top" of the stamp has been cut off)

Add some basic colour to the watch face using a cotton bud and distress ink. This is very easy to do - no colouring skills required - just add small amounts of colour to the cotton bud and rub onto the card to achieve a subtle effect.

Stamps the wings onto Linen cardstock with embossing ink and emboss with gold embossing powder. Fussy cut and separate the wings.

Finally stamp the "Time Flies" onto card with the Rich Cocoa ink. Cut the "Time Flies" words only and edge with Distress Ink.

Gather the embellishments you want to use and start to arrange everything on the base postcard. Adhere the wings on the sides of the Watch.

Adhere the muslin cloth, cotton and main images to the front of the postcard.

Place the wording in the bottom corner.

Print out a postcard backing - used here by Art Tea Life. you can also make your own. I like the vintage style of this one which matches the front of my card!

The completed postcard ready to "wing" it's way around the world before time gets away!

Fun in the Sun Post Card

Sending warm greetings from the beautiful beaches of Hawaii!
You can not help but be inspired when visiting such an exotic location.
This card was inspired by the vintage art work observed on the islands. Scene building cards are a great way to create small pieces of art to share with your friends and family or to remember a special event.

   Gelli Arts Printing Plate
   Distress tool
   Foam tape
   Alcohol markers
   Black ink

Use the Gelli plate with shades of blue paint create the water/sky background. Using multiply layers of paint, create a wave like action for the ocean part of the scene.

Stamp the palm leaves only from the palm tree stamp in black ink in the fore ground. Next stamp the mountains and sail boat on white card stock.  Color in with shades of gray using alcohol markers. Scan and cut images to be adhered to the layer. Distress the edges of the painted/stamped layer to create the vintage look. Using foam tape attach this layer to a blue layer then tape this to the white card base.

Tropical Dreams Mixed Media Postcard

Hi all

I am so ready for the beach!!
It feels like ages since I have visited those sandy shores.
Here I have created a altered postcard to remind us of the sea and sand.

Products used

The Blank Page Muse Tropical Dreams
The Blank Page Muse Background Grunge
The Blank Page Muse Sketchy Doodle Bricks
Card Stock
Black Ink Pad
MDF Shapes
Scraps of Paper
Lime Green Acrylic Paint
Light Orange Acrylic Paint
Bright Yellow Acrylic Paint
Mist Sprays
Self Adhesive Gems

Start off by covering a postcard in gesso and leaving it to dry.

Next paint over with lime green acrylic paint and add a bit of bright yellow paint to the center.

Paint over this with some light orange paint and let dry before spritzing the postcard with mist inks.

Use texture stamps along the edges of the postcard with  archival safe ink so it doesn't smudge.

Tear up some paper scraps and then spray ink onto them.
Add these to your post card and  stamp over the top with a texture stamp.

Paint a mdf shape, then adhere all the pieces onto the postcard.

Add dyed cheesecloth to the ship wheel. Stamp out a pair of flip flops onto card and colour them in before cutting them out and adhering them in place..
Finish your postcard with die-cut shapes and gems,

Standing Tall Flamingo ATC's

Hey Friends,
For my set of ATC's, I created a simple background with a border stamp. Then, I stamped the large flamingo onto pattern paper and fussy cut it.  To make the quote more visible, I painted over it with a stroke of pink watercolor paint.  Sometimes things can be simple yet still stunning.

Ombre Background - Towards the Sunshine

Hello Ladies,
If you feel intimidated by stamping backgrounds, fear no more. One stamp and an ombre ink pad are all you need. By using an ombre ink pad with multiple colors you can create a rich background full of depth. With each new inking of the stamp, re-position it and rotate it to a new angle when stamping it to paper. You can create stunning backgrounds with little effort that make even a beginner seem like an expert.

Blank Page Muse Stamps:
  • Ombre ink pad
  • Dark blue ink pad
  • Gems
  • Liquid adhesive
1. Select a small flourish stamp to create a complete background by repeatedly stamping the same design to fill the paper. Alter the angle and placement of each new image. Ink the stamp in various places around the ink pad so that each new impression is a mix of slightly different colors than the last.

2. Stamp the encouraging quote using blue ink unto white cardstock and matte with blue cardstock.  Stamp two butterflies onto white cardstock and carefully cut them out.

3.  Next, adhere the quote to the center of the card base and adhere the butterflies diagonally across each corner of the quote. Finally, embellish the butterflies with small gems to create their bodies.
