Vellum Dragonfly

I love Dragonflies! This is Teri posting a layered card that started with the dragonfly in the Fall Rubber Stamp Sheet Set by Pam Bray.

I ended up with 2 wonderful cards using my favorite cool colors!

The Dragonfly is silver heat embossed on heavy Vellum and colored with alcohol inks before fussy cutting. I curled the wings up for dimension.

I white heat embossed the Iron Work Engraved Look Border Stamp on a distress inked background from my stash. I often will create multiple backgrounds and save them for the perfect card. Do you do that?

Check out the dimension and contrast created!

I used a sentiment from the Inhale Exhale Art Stamp Sheet Set. Embossed on vellum and mounted on a piece of lavender shiny cardstock from my background stash makes it POP!

The Iron Works piece was mounted on the Lavender Shiny piece a little off center with the Dragonfly glued at a an angle for interest. The Dragonfly looks like he is ready for lift off!

The second card is the extra set I silver heat embossed on Cougar paper in case I didn't like the Vellum piece!

Using cool colors again, I ink smooshed the Cougar piece and trimmed it to add strips from the lavender shiny cardstock I used on the first card.

A few sequins and this card is good to go!  I hope you have enjoyed this post! Be sure to check out Blank Page Muse. They have a great variety of stamps!

Take time to get away... and create!

Oh happy day! I took a few moments and snuck away to my studio to play for a bit. I grabbed one of my favorite little stamps and a sentiment to go with it and then played a bit with my background and created this cute and simple card.

To create the background, sprinkle various Brushos on your watercolor paper and then mist with water. The Brushos magic will create a beautiful background.

The stamps I used were:

Sometimes life gets busy and it is important to remember to always make time for what you love! I love creating! I love new techniques! ...and I LOVE Blank Page Muse!

Until next time... Happy Creating!

Happy Father's Day Cactus Card

Hi everyone! It's me Tonya and I'm here to share a quick and easy card I created for Father's Day using the Small Wild Desert Cactus Skull Scene Stamp and Southwestern Desert Cactus Flower and Skull Stamp

Supplies

BPM: Small Wild Desert Cactus Skull Scene Stamp

BPM:  Southwestern Desert Cactus Flower and Skull Stamp

MISTI Stamping Tool

Black Waterproof Ink

Watercolor Paper

Paint Brush

Stylus

Paper Cutter

Scissors

Thread

Various Watercolors and Inks

Various Scraps of Patterned Cardstock

Kraft Cardstock

Beacon Adhesive: Zip Dry Adhesive

Printer for Sentiment

Foam Pop Dots

Place the stamps onto the MISTI Stamping Tool, ink with black waterproof ink and stamp onto a piece of watercolor paper. I stamped the Southwestern stamp twice since I will be using some of the images to create a 3D effect on the card.
Watercolor the stamped images with various shades of green watercolors/inks, pinks, browns and grays.

Once dry fussy cut all stamped images out.
The second Southwestern image cut apart the flowers, cactus and foliage.
Use a stylus to shape the larger cactus and flowers and adhered to the other intact Southwestern image.

Cut three patterned strips of cardstock, 1 1/2"x6", 1 1/8"x6" and 5/8"x6".
Adhere all cardstock strips to the 4 1/4"x6" folded card base.
Glue larger cactus image to base and place foam pop dots to the back of smaller image before placing on card.
Print Father's Day sentiment from computer, cut out, mat and adhered to card.
Finish with loops of thread placed behind the raised images.
As always if you have questions about this project please let me know.

Budget Friendly Envelope

You don't need endless supple of expensive craft items to enjoy stamps and other paper crafts. I went to Dollar Tree and picked up a few things. My Dollar Tree is well stocked with craft items. I even found this washi tape. The tape is a little more on the plastic side but if you want it to stick to your projects better add a little Tacky glue.

Stencil used:

Additional items needed:
  • Imagination
  • washi tape
  • Acrylic paint
  • Envelopes
  • Sponges

  1. If your envelope has a window like mine, add a little washi tape to protect it from paint.
  2. Then add a little tape to the edges of your stencil so it doesn't move when you sponge your paint to the envelope

  3. Have fun this part is a bit messy. I also took my sponge and ran it along the edge of the envelope to give it a little more color.

Hope you enjoyed this budget friendly envelope. Everything but the stencil was from Dollar Tree. If you have any questions feel free to message Lasheet and if you choose to make your postcard tag her and Blank Page Muse. Thank you, happy crafting!! ♥

Next, stamp the flamingo and sentiment on white cardstock and heat emboss in black. Using Distress Ink Kitsch Flamingo and Marmalade to watercolor the flamingo.

Fantasy Mermaid with Bokeh Background

Hi BPM Fans! It's Betty here today. It's been awhile since I've done the Bokeh technique for a card background. I thought it would be perfect for the sea background for this cute and whimsical mermaid called Fantasy Mermaid from Blank Page Muse. When I saw this stamp, I knew I had to color her with vibrant colors since she looks like a young and sassy mermaid! Since this is a fairly large stamp, I made a slimline card to make it look like she's swimming in the sea.

Supplies:
  • Blank Page Muse Stamp: Fantasy Mermaid designed by Rick St Dennis
  • Black stamp pad
  • Stamping block or stamp positioner
  • White cardstock 3-1/2"W x 5"H to stamp image
  • Coloring medium of choice. I used Castle Arts Colored Pencils. Colors are listed below
  • White cardstock for card base: 6-1/2"W x 7-3/4"H, score at 3-1/4" and fold in half
  • Watercolor paper: 3-1/4"W x 7-3/4"H
  • Watercolor pens or paints in bright pink, purple, aquamarine, and blue. I used Spectrum Noir AquaTints but you can use any bright watercolors.
  • Paint brush and water bowl
  • White pigment ink. I used Stampin' Up Whisper White refill ink.
  • Make up or craft sponge
  • Paint pallet or craft mat
  • Circle punches in various sizes
  • White cardstock to punch circles to use as a stencil. Size of paper will depend on how many circles you want to punch.
  • Heat gun
  • White Glitter paper: 3-1/2"W x 8"H
  • Slimline frame die. I used the Scallop Frame die from Stamp Anniething
  • Distress ink in Peacock Feathers and ink blending tool
  • Mermaid sentiment of choice. I created and printed one using my computer.
  • Sequins for embellishments. Also can use enamel dots, jelly dots, or rhinestones.
Instructions:
  • Stamp image on white cardstock and color with your favorite medium. I used Castle Arts colored pencils.
  • Fussy cut the stamp and set aside
  • Bokeh background technique time! Protect your work surface by working on a craft mat
    • For this technique, use four bright watercolors in pink, purple, aquamarine and blue.
    • First wet the watercolor paper with clean water
    • Apply a generous amount of aquamarine watercolor onto the paper and use a very wet brush to spread it. Dry this first layer with a heat gun.
    • Next apply a generous amount of pink and again, use a very wet brush to spread it. Dry with heat gun. Repeat with the purple watercolor then the blue until color/design covers the entire paper. Dry completely before moving to the next step.
    • Create a circle stencil by punching cardstock with various size punches.
    • Put a drop or two of pigment ink onto a paint palette.
    • Use a make-up or craft sponge and lightly sponge circles onto the watercolored paper. Make sure some circles overlap. Dry completely.
  • Die cut the slimline frame using the white glitter paper
  • Adhere the Bokeh/watercolor paper to the card base then adhere the frame.
  • Stamp or print a mermaid sentiment of choice, trim to size, and distress the edges using Distress ink in Peacock Feathers. Adhere it to a white glitter cardstock mat.
  • Adhere the mermaid and sentiment to the card front.
  • Adhere the sequins or other embellishments.

Other embellishments, such as ribbon, buttons, and washi tape can also be added to this card. Use whatever you have in your stash.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you give the Bokeh technique and this card a try. I'm going to make more of these backgrounds for future cards. ~Betty~
