Hello! Welcome back to the Blank Page Muse Blog. I am doing Halloween themed projects for this month. The BPM products I used on my card for today are:
- Intersection Criss Crossed Lines Stencil
- Grunge Cobwebs Halloween Background Rubber Stamp
- Hello Halloween Sentiment Rubber Stamp
I trimmed a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white cardstock. I positioned this panel on a sticky mat. I positioned the stencil over the white cardstock panel. The sticky mat keeps the white cardstock panel and the stencil in place especially with the stencil being larger than the cardstock panel.
I used Post-It Notes for masking since I am alternating three ink colors, orange, green and purple.
I moved the Post-It Notes as I continued to work on blending inks over the stencil.
This is how the panel looked after ink blending with the stencil in place.
It even looks better after removing the stencil.
I positioned the background stamp on my stamping tool, temporarily adhering it with a washable glue stick. I chose to use a stamping tool because of the intricacy of the stamp image. I might need to re-stamp the image in case I don't get a good impression on the first time I stamped it. I was glad I did because I did need to re-stamp it. I used a black detailed dye ink to stamp the image.
I used a white pigment ink on the sentiment stamp since I will be embossing this sentiment. I also used a stamping tool for the sentiment. I temporarily adhered it to the stamping tool using a washable ink. I prepped the black cardstock before stamping the sentiment on it.
I lightly pressed the sentiment stamp to the black cardstock strip.
I poured white embossing powder to the pigment ink. The pigment ink takes a longer time to dry and because of this, the embossing powder sticks to the pigment ink.
I let the heat gun run for a few seconds before pointing it to the back of the sentiment strip.
I move the heat gun to the front of the sentiment strip. I continued to heat the sentiment strip until the embossing powder melted. You will know that the powder has melted when the powder turns shiny.
I trimmed the strip. Instead of using a foam adhesive, I adhered the embossed sentiment to the left-over black cardstock strip. I trimmed off the excess. I did this one more time. This is just another way of adding dimension without the bulk. It is also a great way to use those cardstock scraps.
I adhered the sentiment strip to the bottom of the inked panel.
I added spider sequins to embellish the inked panel. My recommended adhesive for sequins is Ranger Glossy Accents. This glue dries clear and sets in well when dry.
I used a pick up tool to position the spider sequin over the glue.
I added small dots of Enamel Accents using a tip of a pin to add eyes to the spider.
I hope you like today's project.
