No Line Coloring Mother's Day Card

 Hi everyone! Charlotte here, and today I am sharing a striking Mother's Day card that uses a  no-line coloring technique.

Other materials:

Watercolor card

Stamp positioning tool or acrylic block

Pale pink ink - I used Spun Sugar Distress Ink

Watercolor pencils

Clear glitter brush pen

Scissors

Mother's Day sentiment

Anti-static powder tool

Embossing ink

Ivory Pearl embossing powder

Clear pink iridescent glitter adhesive strips, narrow

Foam squares

Instructions:

First stamp the large lotus flower image onto a piece of watercolor paper using the pale pink ink.

Use watercolor pencils to add color and shading to the lotus flower. Start by using the lightest shade to map in the shadow areas.

Once the shadow areas have been ascertained, use the darkest shade to define the shadow areas.

Continue adding color to each flower using the medium watercolor pencil. Work in flicks to help the colors transition from one to the other. Then use the lightest shade to finish coloring the pencil. Repeat the process for as many layers as are required to provide the desired depth of color.

Use a clear glitter brush pen, or alternatively a plain waterbrush or paint brush dipped in water, to soften and move the pigment laid down with the watercolor pencils. This will blend the color smoothly. Work with one petal at a time, starting in the lightest areas and moving towards the darkest areas to prevent muddying.

Allow the image to dry completely then carefully fussy cut it out, right to the edges of the coloring, using a pair of scissors. Set the fussy cut image aside and work on the card base. 

Use an anti-static powder tool on the black card base then stamp the chosen Mother's Day sentiment with embossing ink. Add Ivory Pearl embossing powder and heat set. Add a narrow clear pink iridescent glitter adhesive strip to each edge of the card, slightly inset to create a frame.

Back the flower with dimensional adhesive and carefully adhere into place on the card base.

LEAF CARDS WITH "TERRI SPROUL'S LEAVES" STAMPS

Hello and thanks for visiting!  Today, I am sharing some cards I made using the "Terri Sproul's Leaves" stamp set from SinCity Stamps.

It's the time of year where we give thanks.  And giving really pretty leaf cards to the people we are thankful for is so nice!  

I started by stamping my leaves on watercolor paper and heat embossing them.  I cut the paper to 4"x5.25" so they would mat well on a card base.

Next, I wet the paper by spraying it with water.  Then, I used watercolors to add light mottled color to the stamped paper.  I also added really fine glitter to the watercolors so the leaves would sparkle a little. Aren't they soooo pretty??  That is why I heat embossed the leaves first, so they would have a perfect outline and wouldn't get ruined by the water.

EXTREME CLOSE UP!!  I wanted you to see the glitter and the shine from the heat embossing.  LOVE THIS!

To finish, I wrote 2 sentiments on the bottom.  I wrote Blessings in colored pencil and Thank You in pen.  The very last thing I did was splatter some spray ink on the cards. (just because I love splatter!)

Wouldn't you love to give these to the people you are thankful for this year?  You see I have 3 more stamped leaf images left to add to my collection of cards.  I will be making them tonight for sure!  I already know who I'm giving them to!

HOW I MADE MY ATC'S

The SinCity Design Team just had an AWESOME blog hop over the weekend!  Our theme was ATC's.  Each of us had to make 3 ATC's and show off our NEW ATC STAMPS from SinCity Stamps!

Today, I'm going to show you how I made mine, using several products from The SinCity Stamp Store.  You will find so much more than stamps there!  AND there is a PERMANENT PRICE REDUCTION right now!!  Sheets of stamps for only $16??? Madness I say!!

• 7 Gypsies Rub-ons available at the SinCity Stamps store
• SinCity Stamps "Love of Butterflies" Stamp Sheet
• SinCity Stamps ATC Stamps
• ATC blanks
• Misc. Paper Scrap
• Grey, Black and Dark Red Ink

I started by stamping the backs of my ATC's with the NEW ATC stamps.  Aren't they awesome!  The design is so clear!  LOVE them!!

I added my paper to the front of the card and used the Butterfly mask as a stencil.  I used grey ink on the inside of the mask. I moved it to different areas on each card.  I love the layered look!

For my next layer, I used some of the new rub ons that we have in the store.  Just a few here and there gives the card some depth.

Then I turned them over and filled in my ATC stamp.  That's it!  Super fun and easy ATC's with many layers of AWESOME!!

SPLATTER FLOWERS

Hello and thank you for visiting today!!  I have a super fun project to share with you!  I call it "Splatter Flowers"!

SUPPLIES:

• Sin City Stamps "Big Bold Blossoms" by Daniella Hayes
• Sin City Stamps "Seashells" Stencil
• ColourArte Twinkling H2O's
• Stewart Superior India Ink Black
• Watercolor Paper
• Molding Paste

I started by covering the page with shell stencils and molding paste.  When it was dry I started splattering my colors.  I started with yellow Twinkling H2O's and let them dry.  I moved on to a light green and let it dry.  Then, I made concentrated areas of color on 4 sections of the paper.  I used 2 shades of blue, pink and purple.  I stenciled first so the colors would flow unevenly and mix together in fun and interesting ways!

The bottom left was too much on the stencil and I didn't like how it looked.  So the other 3 areas were not concentrated on a whole stencil.  I made sure that it was only on the edge or side of a stenciled shell, leaving white areas inside.  I LOVE how they look!  I cut the 4 sections apart so they were card sized and stamped a flower on each.

WOW I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!  I actually thought I would like this flower least because the leaves wouldn't be green but I was so wrong!!  I like this one best!  The abstract look is fabulous, the texture from the stencil is amazing and the splatter is awesome!!

My second favorite is the blue flower.  Actually, I love this one too!!  So hard to pick just one!!  This is my new favorite effect to make.  I know it will be used on art journal pages, canvases and more cards.  I hope I find tons of other uses for this effect because it is not only beautiful, it is sooo fun to do!  Splattering is always fun, isn't it???

SIN CITY STAMPS YOUTUBE CHANNEL

A DELIGHTFUL BOUQUET OF BIG BOLD BLOSSOMS!

Hello!  Today I am sharing an art journal spread I made, with my new "Big Bold Blossoms" Stamps From Sin City Stamps!

Supplies:

• Sin City Stamps Big Bold Blossoms Stamps
• ColourArte Radiant Gels Coral Berry Dimensional Paint
• ColourArte Twinkling H2O's "Carnival" set
• Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue
• Stewart Superior India Ink

First, I stamped 3 of my flower stamps several times on white cardstock and cut them out.

Next I painted the Radiant Gel paint on my art journal pages.  I waited about a minute and sprayed a little water on it.  When you lightly wipe off your water with a paintbrush, you get both brush strokes and water drop marks.  I've only done this with acrylic paints.  How cool is that for the background!

Now I painted my flowers with Twinkling H2O's.  I used 3 different orange colors, 1 yellow color and 2 green colors.  I love how shimmery these are!!  And mixing the colors is so smooth and delightful!  These are so fun to work with!!

Because it was overcast and rainy I had to take the pictures inside and you can't see all of the sparkle :(  The Twinkling H2O's have Mica in them and they sparkle like crazy!  The Radiant Gels are iridescent paints and shine!!  I will try to remember to take a better picture to show you how shiny this is!

I cut my papers and sprayed ink through this stencil.  I kept turning the stencil so the lines would cross each other.

The Wizard and Dorothy 2 By Daniella Hayes

A couple of weeks ago I won a prize on Terri Sproul's Tuesday night live show.  She has a free art journal/canvas show every Tuesday.  Check out her Facebook Page All Things Terri Sproul to find out more. 

I won that prize for knowing some Wizard of Oz trivia.  So I thought I would make this card using the Wizard and Dorothy 2 stamp set from SinCity Stamps.

Supplies:

• SinCity Stamps Wizard and Dorothy 2 Stamps
• DCWV The Guilded Paper Stack
• Stewart Superior India Ink
• Tombow Dual Brush Pens and Adhesive
• Misc. Glitter Die Cut

I gathered my supplies to start.  I picked a gold flecked paper and a pretty floral paper.  I found this piece of a glitter die cut paper in my "stash basket" (which is so full it will soon be a stash box because there is so much leftovers and papers and stuff in it).  I thought the red glitter die cut had to be used to represent Dorothy's Ruby Slippers.

Next, I cut the papers and stamped the images.

I colored the image in with my markers.  I love the highlight the stamp makes on the tablecloth.

To finish, I cut the die cut apart and added it behind the paper and on the card front.

TERRI SPROUL INSPIRED "ORGANIC LOOK" ART JOURNAL PAGE

If you didn't already know, Terri Sproul has a free art journal/canvas show every Tuesday night.  Check out her Facebook group All Things Terri Sproul to get all the details!  It is her birthday this week, so she isn't having a show.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY TERRI!!!

This art journal page I made for SinCity Stamps was inspired by Terri's show last week.  The show was called "Organic Look".

• Deco Art Media Gesso
• Tombow Mono Multi Glue
• Jaquard Lumiere Acrylic Paint Halo Pink Gold, Pearl Turquoise, Pearlescent Magenta, Gold
• Liquitex Glazing Medium
• Stewart Superior India Ink
• Dr. Phil Martin Bombay Ink
• Flower Soft Meadow
• Fineline Applicator, Masking Tape

Just as Terri showed on her show, I started by applying masking tape on my pages and covered them with Gesso.  The maksing tape gives the background the beginning of the "Organic Look" because it is irregular, like nature.

Because I didn't have large stamps for the flowers on my pages, I did some messy writing on the gesso, to take up space and write down something I wanted to remember.  I added India Ink to my Fineline Applicator and wrote on the page.

Then I painted over the writing with Halo Pink Gold and Pearl Turquoise.  I added glazing medium to the paints, painted them on and wiped them off with a baby wipe.  You really see the masking tape texture when you use glaze.

*sorry for the slight glare.  It's hard to not get a glare with metallic paints*

Like I said, I didn't have big stamps like Terri had, but I had a plan!  What if I took the tree branch from the "Hoot Owls" set and stamped it several times, making the look of a bush.  Then, I could turn the branch over and make some leaves and swirls at the bottom.  AND THEN, I could add the roses from the "Rosette Hearts" set and it could look like rose bushes!!  OH MY HECK!  This was going to be the most awesome thing I've ever made or the worst.  SO I just went all in, and got....

AWESOME!  I am so in love with this!  My vision is a total success!

I painted the flowers with Pearlescent Magenta and Metallic Gold in the centers.  WHAT?  Perfect! 

 But how to get that "Organic" look Terri talked about???  Flower Soft of course!!  I used Tombow Mono Multi Adhesive and a Fineline applicator to add glue, and sprinkled Flower Soft on top.

What do you get when the Flower Soft dries?  Awesome times 5million!!!

Here is a close up of my rose bushes with Flower Soft on the stems and leaves.   

Don't you just love when a project comes together like this?  I love when this happens.  You get an idea and that idea sort of takes over.  Like it has a mind of it's own.  I love the excitement and the slight fear you get at the same time.  But when it turns out better than you expected it is priceless!!
