Happy Halloween! Cards by Jenn

Hello, Sin City Stamps Fans!!
It's Jenn with you today and I am going to show you how to create these Happy Halloween cards using Sin City Stamps designed by Rick St. Dennis!!
Halloween is such a fun holiday for everyone, so why not get creative and make some cards!!

For this project, I used the DriBonez stamp set designed by Rick St.Dennis for Sin City Stamps.

Start by creating your backgrounds. For this, you will need:
  • Dribonz Stamps,
  • Heavy cardstock,
  • Black archival ink,
  • Distress inks,
  • Watermarking ink,
  • Clear embossing powder,
  • A heat tool.
For the first card, use the border stamp and watermarking ink to create border.
Coat with clear embossing powder and activate with a heat tool.
Stamp distress inks one at a time onto a craft mat and spritz with water. Next dab your white cardstock in each and dry with a heat tool in between. Add a bit more ink and water to your craft mat, and use a paintbrush to add splatters of the same colors. Dry with a heat tool completely.

On another sheet of cardstock stamp the three skulls in black archival ink. Next use a 1" circle punch to cut each skull out. Set these aside.

For the second card, repeat the background process. Use black archival ink to directly stamp the skull and add a sentiment.

Add a hollowed out circle and sentiment to the first card.

Use double sided tape to adhere the backgrounds to black cards either pre-made or folded cardstock, your choice! And there you have it, colorful, handmade Halloween cards!
Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you are inspired to get creative and make some fun Halloween cheer for your friends and family too!!
 Until next time, Jenn

The Witches of Eastwick

Hi Everyone!
Today I have step by step instructions on creating this fun Halloween themed journal page!!

I don't have as many Halloween Stamps as I would like LOL but one thing I do love to do with stamps is use them in as many ways as possible and "adapt" them to suit whatever occasion I am creating for! Soooooo I have turned the "Just Us Girls" set into "The Witches of Eastwick" and I love the result - I hope you enjoy it as well!

Supplies:
  • Sin City Stamp Set: Just Us Girls
  • Collage Witches Hats & Accessories (Digital Sheet from Lisa's Altered Art used here)
  • Journal or Loose Page to create on
  • Gesso and Texture Paste
  • Stencil, Black Acrylic Paint and Impasto Medium
  • Gelatos - 3-4 Colours
  • Water Spritzer
  • Black Archival Ink Pad
  • Colouring Medium (Copics used here)
  • White Card
  • Embellishments: cobwebs, spider sequins, individual collage letters of the alphabet (used here Digital collage sheet by "itKuPiLLi")
  • General supplies: spatula, scissors, glue
Instructions:
To start we need to create the background, some drying time required for each "layer" of this so you can work on the stamps and embellishments whilst you wait for the page to dry!
Start by applying a layer of Gesso over your page. I also "smooshed" some thick texture past over part of my background too to get even more texture to the background and give a grungy look for these witchy women! Allow this layer to dry.
Next step is to add the colour to the background using the Gelatos. Use colours associated with Halloween and the scene you are trying to portray. Use here were the colours: gold champagne, Tangerine & Green Tea. Randomly colour the page in  blocks of the colours. Spritz your page with water and rub each of the colours - blending where the colours meet. allow this layer to dry. Note: once this page dried I decided to add a little lemon Gelato to soften some of the areas where the colours hadn't quite blended. Tip: if you sprayed a little too much water when you were blending your Gelatos you can get rid of the excess by closing the journal and "mopping up" the excess on the facing page (providing your facing page is blank!!) - handy to start prepping another background for a new page later!

Once the Gelato layer has dried we can add the stencilled texture. Mix some black paint with the Impasto Medium and apply at the bottom third of the page and as you can see I added a tiny bit of texture to one of the top corners. You will also notice the stencil left a fine line when it was moved to stencil the page corner and left another bit of texture and interest on the page! Allow to dry.

Tip: use any excess paint/paste mixture through the stencil to the opposite page where you mopped up the Gelatos - more additions to having another page ready to create on! See picture below:

Next step is to stamp 3 of the gal's onto white card and colour. You will have guessed from the title of the post that the theme for this page is the movie "The Witches of Eastwick" - so I coloured the stamps to reflect each of the 3 characters in the movie! Keep your colouring complimentary to the background.

Print your Witch Accessory Collage sheet on White paper or card and give each stamped gal a hat - so much fun! Also cut out broomsticks, cauldrons and even a cat! Using the lettering collage sheet cut out each letter for the page title.

Now to arrange everything on the page! Firstly add some "cobweb" fibre to the background and adhere. then place your witches, witches accessories, spider sequins and lettering on the page and adhere - tweezers are handy for managing little elements! And it's done!

Thanks for joining me today - hope you enjoyed this creation & Happy Halloween month LOL!
