We 3 Kings

Hi BPM Fans!

Hope you have been enjoying the fun creations this month and hope you are all getting ready for Christmas?

I'm a bit of a Bah Humbug so today I am sharing a fun tag trio entitled "We 3 Kings" using a non traditional stamp as the focus - fun!

Supplies:

Blank Page Muse Stamp: Skull with Crown Crow and Spider

Set of 3 Manila Packaging Tags

Scraps of textured or patterned or colored paper

White card and Black Archival Ink Pad or any color of your choice

Glue Stick and scissors

String or fibers and any other embellishments

Computer generated wording

Instructions:

Start by tearing the paper into approx 1cm wide strips - they need to be the width of the set of 3 tags.

Using your glue stick adhere the strips to the tags - overlap the strips to cover the tag you don't want to see any of the tag once you have covered it with paper strips. Allow the glue to dry and then use your scissors to trim around the tags and cut off the excess torn strips.

Stamp the BPM Skull image 3 times onto white card using the black ink pad and fussy cut.

Arrange the Stamped Skulls onto the set of tags and adhere. Add the computer generated wording to the bottom of the tag set and adhere.

Add fibres or string to the holes at the tops of the tags and also any other embellishments ie. sequins.

Your non-traditional Christmas Tag is ready!

I also used this idea to make a Creepmas card!

Halloween Decor

Hello every one, Monique here showing you how to make a Halloween Decor.

Supply list: 

• Sin City stamps:  
• Skull fence Border Background stamp,
•  crackle background stamp,  
• Ornate metalwork look art rubber stamp

• Orange and black acrylic paint,
• Black waterproof stamp-ink, 
• Black ribbon, 
• Piece of cardboard (from old box),
• Frame and skull embellishment (or make them yourself using a mold and air dry clay) 
• Gesso in black and white. 
• Acrylic paint in white, light and dark brown, 
• Metallic Luster in silver.
• Paint brushes,
• Glue.

Step 1:  Make the frame and skull using a mold and air dry clay. It will take a day to let for the clay to dry

Step 2: Cut a square piece of cardboard from a box and use a layer of white gesso to prepare it for painting. Add a layer of white gesso to the skull and black gesso to the frame. Let dry.

Step 3: Paint the cardboard square orange, let paint dry.

Step 4: Use the crackle stamp and black stamp ink to give the cardboard an aged look.

Step 4: Create a frame by using the top part of the skull fence stamp.

Step 5: Finish the background using the  Ornate  Metal look stamp

Step 6: Paint the frame black.

Step 7: Paint the skull using light and dark brown acrylic paint

Step 8: Give the frame some dimension by using white and grey acrylic paints on the raised parts of the frame.

Step 9: Add some silver wax on the frame

Step 10: Attache a ribbon on the back of the hanger.

Sep 11: Adhere the skull inside the frame and adhere the frame to the wall hanger.

6 Halloween Cards

Another quick idea to make Halloween cards (or any other themed card by changing color scheme and images).

Supply List:

Halloween stamps from Sin City  : Boo, Spider, Skull, postage stamp, eek, skull cauldron, happy halloween, one scary night, powdered cobwebs pot, Oct 31, skeleton key, Skeleton with tophat and batwings, Spooky

Orange and black  card stock, pre cut card frames, washi tape, gelli plate left overs, black stamp ink

Cut the left over gelli prints in squares and mat them on black card stock

Stamp the images on the squares and glue them to the die cut card frames

Adhere the die cut card frames to the card base

Decorate with washi tape

Stamp a sentiment or skeleton key on the die cut card base or/and on the card

Dreamers Gotta Dream Tag

Hello Crafty Folks!

Today we are making a fast and fun tag using the new Sin City Stamp Set called "Dribonez".  

It made me think of dreaming while wearing a sleeping mask so, I went with it!

 I hope this imagery will invoke the concept of dreaming and allow your mind to set itself free.

 We are the crafty people so there is no telling where we will go with our creations if our minds are set free. 

I used the new Sin City "Background Grunge" stamp set to create the background for this tag. 

 I ink blended the background creating a powdered mat finish. Next came the stamping and coloring of the skull from the Dribonez stamp set. After cutting the skull out I used dimensional tape to pop it up off the tag.  I added a few mirrored stars for whimsy and a ribbon to finish the tag off.

Skull ATC's - Quick Idea's

I have made some ATC's using the Dribones set and the background roses stamp 

All made the same way, stamp the skull, make a mask and put that over the skull and stamp the background.

Next color the stamps and use distress ink on the edges, see below all ATC's

Finder Keepers

 Hi fellow crafty folks,

Today I am sharing a tag I have made using the Sin City Stamp - Fancy Metalwork Look Plate. 

One of my favorite uses of stamps is in the creation of tags. 

I guess you could say I am hooked on tags.

Supplies:

   Sin City Stamp - Fancy Metalwork Look Plate

   Ink - shades of blue, gray and teal

   Blank tag

   Washi tape with words

   Rub Ons

   Chipboard with sentiment

   Twine

   Metal Embellishment

   Die Cut child

   Blending Tool

   Dimensional dots

Step 1:  Blend teal and gray ink onto tag to achieve the look you like.

Step 2:  Spray or flick water onto the inked tag.  Blot the water using a paper towel.

Step 3:  Stamp the background with gray ink using the Fancy Metalwork Look Plate stamp.

Step 4:  Add washi tape with words across the bottom of tag.

Step 5:  Using the rub on of black birds to a position that will appear above the child's shoulder.  Next ink the edges of the chipboard sentiment and affix the chipboard sentiment to the side of the tag.
Using dimensional dots glue the child to the tag.  Finally, add the metal skull and crossbones to appear as if the child is holding it.  I added a hangman's knot to the top of the tag.

Not everyone would want to find a skull but obviously this little boy did. He is definitely not going to give it away.  I would venture to guess we all know a kid who would love to have a skull!

Day of the Dead Triptych

Hi all, today I show you how to make this Day of the Dead Triptych.


Supplies:

Sin City stamps Sugar Skull Floral Flourish and Praying kneeling skeleton
flower flourish from the Day of the dead sugar Skull sheet

Die Artfull Dwellings, but these shapes are also easy to handcut
Black ribbon
Paints in  blue, quinacridone gold , red, dark grey, yellow iron oxide.
Antiquing cream in white (or white paint)
Gesso
Matte Varnish
Chipboard (I used the back of a paperpad)
Black waterproof stamp ink
Arylic block
Unmounted rubber stamp  about the same size as the kneeling skeleton stamp
Glue


Instructions:

1)  Cut out house shapes of chipboard ; 4 smaller and 2 larger (or use the Artfull dwellings die) and gesso both sides  (size needs to match the stamps you will be using)

2)  Paint all 6 shapes with the grey paint.

3) Add a layer of antiquing cream over the grey, let it dry and wipe back using a baby wipe to give it a worn look. (This can be done with acrylic white paint too, it's just a bit harder. If you use paint  make sure it has not dried completely before you wipe it off)

Brush the edges with the ink pad to create a distressed look.

4)  Now we will do a technique that is called "Mirror stamping" As you can see on the picture of the Triptych the Praying kneeling skeleton are both facing the middel pannel, so we have to do a little trick to make one of  the skellies face the other way using the same stamp.

Take an unmounted rubber stamp , here the Sugar Skull Floral Flourish that 's on the middle pannel is used, lay it on the work surface face down.
Ink up the Praying kneeling skeleton and make an impression on the back side of the unmounted Skull stamp.
Take the left pannel of the triptych and press it (white side down) onto the impression you just made on the back of the skull stamp. See picture below

 Make sure to press firm and evenly to make a good impression, work fast so the ink will not dry before you can stamp.

 Here is the result, on the left the mirrored image and on the right the image as it is on the stamp.

 5) Make an impression of the Sugar Skull Floral Flourish on the middle panel, and add the flower flourish stamp on the top of each panel.

6)  Because the antiquing cream will keep reacting with water add a layer of matte varnish (be carefull the antiquing cream will react with the varnish too). If you used acrylic paint you will not have this problem so no need to varnish then.
When varnish is dry add  iron oxide yellow paint  thinned with water to the edges

 7) Next add some quinacridon gold, with every layer of paint you want the image and background to shine though. Therefor you need to thin all thepaints used with water.

 8) Use some red an blue to make the Triptych a bit more colorful but make sure you will be able to see the stamps shine through the paint layers. Adding paint over the stamped image will give a more aged look as stamping over the paint. and as you can see- the imperfections of the mirror stamped skeleton are not noticeable anymore.

9) Cut two pieces of ribbon to use as hinges.  Take the 3 panels, line them up with some space between the panels, add a layer of glue and attache the ribbons as shown in the picture above.

10 ) Next put the stamped pannels in their right place.
