Hello! Welcome back to the Blank Page Muse Blog. Can you believe that it is November already? For today's project,I used a BPM tag from the BPM Fall Harvest Junk Journal Cut and Glue Paper Pack. This digital pack includes 5 digital sheets that are very easy to customize. It is very convenient to use since it can be printed at home. It is very affordable, too.
The digital prints come in .png format. After I downloaded the digital sheet with the tag, I saved it in .jpg format so I can add it to Microsoft Word as an image. This is the program I use with my BPM digital prints. I cropped the tag on the digital sheet removing the rest of the digital images. This is my way of economizing the paper and the ink. I copied and pasted the tag to have a total of 4 tags. My printer is a Canon PIXMA.
Using my paper trimmer, I trimmed the tags.
I have an alphabet die that pokes holes on paper for stitching. I secured each letter on a tag with a repositionable tape to prevent the die from shifting when I run this through the die cutting machine.
I ran this through my die cutting machine. I repeated this with the letter L since I need two of it.
This is how the tags look with the poked holes.
I started stitching using a 6 floss DMC Color Variations embroidery floss. I love the variegated look of this floss. With this floss, each x stitch is stitched before moving on to the next x stitch. A bit wasteful but that is the best way to bring out a beautiful result with this thread.
Isn't the transition of colors pretty?
To cover the stitching on the back of the tag, I added a white double adhesive tape over the stitched area. This serves a dual purpose. It will not only make this tag adhere to the cream cardstock, it will also keep the embroidery floss intact especially the ends of the stitch.
I used a scraper to burnish the tape to the stitching for better adhesion.
I removed the release paper of the double adhesive tape using a craft knife.
I added liquid glue to the edges of the tag.
I adhered the tag to the cream cardstock. I trimmed off the excess using the outline of the tag as guide in cutting.
I used a punch to poke a hole on the tag using the print as guide.
I threaded a raffia through the tag holes. I tied a knot on each tag to keep the tag in place. I tied this to a DIY tree branch mobile. It is now hanging on my front door.
I hope you like today's project. I created a similar home decor project a while back using a different BPM digital print, Halloween Banner. Please check it out if you are interested.
