Gentle Pink Noel & Holly Topiary Art Journal Page

 Hello Hello

It's Kim today. This month we are playing with Christmas using non traditional colors. So, I went pink with lots of dots for my art journal page.

I used our red rubber stamps, Noel and Holly Topiary, both from our I Brake for Stamps/Embossing Arts collections.

These are the actual red rubber stamps. Here are sample photos of what I like to say are our naked stamps! Just red rubber, no wood mounting or cling cushion. It is easy to stamp using double stick tape on your acrylic block if you like. We do offer cling cushion for your convenience, just select that option at checkout.

The background started with a pink watercolor wash, then dried with a heat tool.

In the background you can see some flower flake shapes, I used our Butterflies & Flowers layering stencil and Fantasy Flourish stencil to build some texture. I used white gesso and make up sponges to apply the layers. I added some pink acrylic paint to the gesso to stencil some shades of pink flowers as well. They kinda strike me like snowflakes.

I used the stars from our Celestial Moon & Stars stencil with modeling paste. Then a yellow acrylic marker for some color.

Noel is stamped with Stazon in black on heavy watercolor paper. I love the texture of watercolor paper, it has lots more character. It is just Michaels Artist's Loft paper nothing too fancy or pricey.

The Holly Topiary is also stamped using Stazon Black on the same watercolor paper.  I colored the stamp using acrylic paint makers. The red acrylic covers the black dots for the berries on the stamp. I did a fast not fussy coloring of the stamp.

Lastly I tore old book pages for some border textures to kind of frame the page. I fingerpainted using Golden High Flow Acrylic in Transparent Yellow Iron Oxide for the yummy golden stain. That paint is so nice, I love it! It's the only color I have in it.

Thank you so much for supporting our mom & pop shop. Happy Holidays!

A Pink Christmas, An Alternate Take On Christmas

Hello! Welcome back to the BPM blog. For December's theme, the team is doing an alternate take on Christmas. I created a mostly pink Christmas card, which is a non-traditional Christmas color. The Blank Page Muse stamps I used on this card are the Beyond the Border Christmas Stamp Set and the Country Vintage Christmas Rubber Art Stamps Set Sheet.

I used a pink striped pattern paper from a Valentine paper collection, a very alternate take.

I used a stamp positioner so I can repeatedly stamp the Christmas trees to create a pattern. With the stamp positioner, I just move the paper and not the stamp. In this way, the trees are all aligned next to each other. All I have to worry about now is where to stamp it on the striped design.

Since I am embossing, I prepped the area with an anti-static powder tool before stamping.

I inked the stamp with a sticky ink.

I used a whiteboard eraser to evenly press the inked stamp to the paper. I still missed some areas but since I used a stamp positioner tool, I was able to re-stamp on the same spot.

I poured pink embossing powder to the inked impression. I used a scrap paper to catch the excess embossing powder which I poured back to the bottle.

I heat embossed the powder until it has melted. I usually start heating from the back.

I move the heat tool to the front to finish off melting the powder.

I continued the process using different pink embossing powders.

Now, I have a background paper.

I temporarily adhered the sentiment stamp to the door of the stamp positioner tool using a glue stick. I placed a clear plastic in the stamp positioner. I temporarily stamped the sentiment to this clear plastic to help me with placement of the sentiment on the rectangular vellum.

I die cut a pink vellum to which I will stamp the sentiment on. I placed this on the back of the stamped clear plastic lining it up with the sentiment. My stamp positioner tool has a sticky mat on it. After I aligned the vellum to the clear plastic, I positioned this back to the stamp positioner tool. The sticky mat held the vellum in place when I removed the clear plastic.

I prepped the vellum with an anti-static powder tool. I inked the sentiment stamp with black pigment ink and stamped this to the vellum. This is the only part of this card that is not pink. The black ink will make the sentiment pop and not get lost in the busy pink background.

I used a black embossing powder to make the sentiment stark black.

I heat set the embossing powder starting from the back going to the front. I moved the heat gun frequently to prevent warping the vellum.

I used an A2 die to trim the panel. I could have used a trimmer but using a die helped me in making sure that the trees are on the center of the panel.

I adhered the sentiment box on the panel. I applied small dots of glue on the back of the embossed sentiment to hide the glue since the glue might show through the vellum. I used a T-square ruler to make sure that the sentiment box is adhered straight.

I adhered mini pink gems to the trees for additional accent.

Since there is no glue on the corners of the sentiment box, to keep it from lifting off the panel, I added pink washi tape to the corners to secure it.

I hope you like today's project.

Christmas Pocket Card

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today using some amazing stamps and from Blank Page Muse.

Blank Page Muse Stamps: Expert Keeper of MagicVillage

Create a pennant shape from white cardstock.
Stamp the village along the bottom edge and ink the panel with brown ink.

Use a masking technique to mask off the sentiment as I only wanted to use a portion of it.

Mat the sentiment panel on red cardstock and add twine.
Place the pennant panel to the card front.
Add a strip of gemstones for a fun effect.

Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas Gift Tags with Digital Images

I love the Blank Page Muse digital Christmas Papers.  For those who like to give your gift wrapping a personal touch handmade gift tags are perfect. They can be used to decorate packages or gift bags. I like to have them made ahead of time, so they are ready to attach as I am gift wrapping.  Today I have eleven tags made with the Frosty Night Christmas Printable Papers and the Vintage Gingerbread Christmas Printable Papers.

Supplies from Blank Page Muse:
Frosty Night Christmas Printable Papers
Vintage Gingerbread Christmas Printable Papers (Candy Cane Paper)
Fancy Flourish Stencil

Other supplies
Ribbons
Lace
Gems
Any other embellishments on hand
Astro Paste Tropical Tango
TCW Butter Paste Champagne Gold
Spatula
Wide tip Gold Sharpie
Crop-o-dile
Corner Chomper

I gathered items to use on my tags, ribbons, lace, gems, and paste that coordinated with the papers.

I first cut the papers the size of tags I desired, as you will see none of the tags are the same size.  The smaller tags were part of the paper collection and in the shape of a tag. The others are all pieces of the digital papers cut to size. I used the Corner Chomper to round the edges at the top of the tag and the Crop-o-dile to punch a hole in each tag.

Next using the Fancy Flourish Stencil add paste to the tags.  I use the Astro Paste Tropical Tango and TCW Butter Paste Champagne Gold. They complimented the paper beautifully. Let the paste dry. Once the paste was dry, I edged the tags that had the gold paste with a wide tip gold sharpie.
Once the paste was dry, I pulled out my lace trimmings and added a bit to the bottom of some of the tags. I had some die cut glitter foam from a previous project that they were perfect for the tags.
Finally add ribbons to the tags!

HERE ARE THE FINISHED TAGS!!!
Vintage Gingerbread Christmas Printable Papers, these have lace and red gems on them.

The remaining tags were made using the Frosty Night Christmas Printable Papers. The tags above are part of the fussy cut page, each tag has TCW Butter Paste Champagne Gold, with different die cut glitter foam embellishment and gems. The were edged with a wide tip gold Sharpie.

The tags above have Astro Paste Tropical Tango, with different die cut glitter foam embellishment and gems.
I layered a couple of the papers to make this tag, edged it with the wide tip gold Sharpie and added a bit of trim at the bottom and added a few flat back pearls.

The tags above have Astro Paste Tropical Tango. The tag on the left has fussy cut flowers, gems and lace. The tag on the right. Has the paste and gems.

Hope you are inspired to make your own tags this year.
