Looooooooong Snippet Rolls!

 Hi Stamping Fans!

Today I am sharing a couple of snippet rolls I whipped up with scraps!

I've been wanting to create one of these for ages - these are just the most perfect thing to make to use up all of your scraps, excess stamped images, bits & pieces in general - perfect for those of us that just cannot bear to throw anything away - even the tiniest bit of paper!

I had lots of fun delving through my scraps and excess stamped Blank Page Muse images!

I used offcuts of patterned papers designed by Pam Bray available in store along with all the fab rubber stamps by various artists!

I had bits and pieces of background papers/tissue papers using BPM stamps so they were perfect.

As you can see I ran the metre long strip through the sewing machine just to doubly secure everything!

I had so much fun - I have some base strips all ready to create even more of these wonderful snippet rolls! Remember you can add stickers, charms, buttons - any embellishments you have to make your strips even more decorated! Or add extras when you cut off "snippets" to use on your creations!

Stapled Together Forever!!!

 Hi BPM Fans!

Well here we are at the second month of the year already!

February - the month of "Romance" - and we will be bringing you lots of romantic creations so make sure you check back regularly to see what the DT are creating!

Today I'm using my scraps and some sentiment stamps only!

Quite some time ago - maybe several years ago now - oh my goodness time flies - I came across a "one staple" challenge idea - I can't remember where I first saw it but if you do a Google search you can see several people who have promoted this idea.

I love this idea because you can use up your "odds & sods" and you only need one feature stamp - perfect for the hoarders amongst us!

Index Cards - any size - 5 x 3 inches used for these

Scraps of coloured/patterned/textured paper and old book pages

Black or coloured ink pads and scrap white card

Stapler and "ONE" Staple!!!

Instructions:

Start by gathering some index cards and lots of bits and pieces of scrap paper and book pages. Stick to a colour theme for each index card - makes everything co-ordinated and it's fun to use different shades of a colour - match your stamp ink with your chosen colour!

Stamp your sentiment/word stamp onto cardstock - use black ink or the same colour as your chosen papers. If you want edge your index card with the coloured ink pad. I have a "fear" of excess white so I like to ink the edge of my cards!

Layer your papers and stamp to fit the index card - remember the aim is to use just "one" staple to attach everything to the index card! You have to love a "challenge"!

You can make lots of these at once - they are great to make affirmation cards and perfect for using your favourite Blank Page Muse Phrase/Quote Stamps!

I like to make these and put them on the wall in my craft room for inspiration and creativity!

Classic & Elegant Poinsettia Holiday Card

I love red poinsettias, but can never make them live past Christmas. When I saw the humongous poinsettia bushes in Kona, Hawaii, I was convinced that they like warmer weather. I'm sharing today the beautiful poinsettia and sentiment stamps from Blank Page Muse Art Rubber Stamps called Classic Christmas Stamp Set by Pam Bray Designs. 

I'll be showing you how to make your own beautiful patterned paper with some scraps and washi tape then showcasing your card with the beautiful colored poinsettia stamp. I hope this inspires you to try make your own card and entering it in our monthly challenge, "Holiday Play."

All the supplies and instructions are listed below to make this A2 size card.

Supplies:

• Blank Page Muse Stamp:  Classic Christmas Stamp Set
• White cardstock - Cut to the following sizes:
• 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" to stamp the poinsettias  twice
• A2 size for the base (8-1/2" x 5-1/2"), fold in half
• 4" x 5-1/4" for the mat (card front)
• 4" x 4" for the frame (Cut 2) 
• 3" x 2" for the sentiment
• Black cardstock strips - Cut to ½” x 7” (Cut 3)
• Black cardstock strips - Cut to 1/2" x 5” (Cut 4)
• 3mm wide gold washi tape 
• Nested square dies - 3" x 3" and next smaller size (approx. 2-1/2" x 2-1/2")
• Black stamp pad
• Stamp positioner or stamping block
• Scissors
• Paper trimmer
• Your favorite adhesive
• Your favorite coloring medium (I used Copic markers. Colors listed below)
• Clear glitter pen (I used Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen)
• White gel pen

Copic markers used:

Red: R39, R46, R43, R30

Green: G28, G05, YG03

Instructions:

• Stamp two of the poinsettias, color, and fussy cut. Set aside.
• To make the background paper, using the 4" x 5-1/4" mat, lay out the black cardstock strips 1/4 inch apart. Start in the middle and work your way to the outside corners. Adhere to the card front.

• Turn your cardstock to the back and use scissors to trim off the excess black strips.

• Adhere the gold washi tape in between each black stripe making sure that you have an overhang of 1/4" to fold to the back. 

• Using the 4" square white cardstock, cut out a 3" square with the die.
• Using the other 4" square white cardstock, nest the 3" and 2-1/2" dies to cut out a frame.

•  Add gold washi tape around the frame. Adhere the frame to the 3" mat then adhere onto the card front.

• Adhere the poinsettias.
• Adhere the card front onto the base cardstock.
• Stamp the sentiment on white cardstock and trim to size. Use black cardstock to mat the sentiment and adhere to the card front.

• Using a glitter pen, add some glitter to the centers and tips of the poinsettias.
• Using a white gel pen, add some accent dots to the poinsettias.

Art Journaling Cards

Hi BPM fans!

Mercy here to chat with you about putting some pizzazz into your scrapbooking.  If you're like me, you might like the photo cropping and page design part of the process, but the journaling part is a real struggle.  I'm personally uninspired to write down notes about whatever event I'm scraping and have found myself not bothering for years.  And then, by that time, I forget dates, times and details of that day.  If I do bother to journal, it's usually on a boring piece of scrap and really, doesn't help the actual format of the page.  Wanting to change things up with my layouts, I thought it might be nice to highlight the journaling itself by creating these decorative journal boxes to be added onto simplier pages to dress them up.

As I created these, I had a lot of fun with coming up with different formats and images for the journaling boxes. Part of my challenge with this project was to try an use up some twenty plus year old embossing powder and some of the many scraps I have for this project.

Correspondence Pens, Ink & Postage Art Rubber Stamp Sheet by Katy Leitch SCKTL-001

Hearty Doodles Heart, Connected Circles and Small Dotted Stamp 

Crackle Background Art Rubber Stamp

Cardstock Scraps in White, Light Green, & Red

Versamark Ink (or any clear Embossing ink you have)

Black Archival Ink

Distress Oxide Mustard Seed

Gold Embossing Powder 

Black Fine Embossing Powder

Instructions:

1. Find some scraps of paper that you need to use up and cut into 4 X 2.5 strips of paper.

2. Taking the darker shaded scrap paper, ink the entire surface in Versamark ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder (you can use any color for this since you are embossing its surface).  Make sure to cover the entire page with several layers of embossing to get a smooth golden finish and no paper should be exposed.

3. Once the first sheet is cool, set aside and stamp out the various pens, logos and images onto white card stock in black permanent ink with embossing ink and black powder. Heat emboss.  After everything is cooled, fussy cut out the pens, ink bottle and smaller stamped images.

4. Cut 3 separate 3 3/4 X 2.1/4 pieces of white card stock and one light green scrap.

5. Grabbing one of the white 3 3/4 X 2.1/4 papers, stamp top center of the white paper using the One Penny Geo W. Hughes stamp with embossing ink, then heat emboss with black powder.

6. Add the connected Connected Circles in Mustard Seed stamped randomly across the white areas. Ink the edges of the card. Adhere the white stamped card to the embossed scrap.

7. Take the Crackle Background Art Rubber Stamp and the light green cropped paper, stamp across the entire scrap.  Fill in the edges and outer rim of the paper with the small Dotted Stamp. Keep in mind to allow the paper below to show through.

8. Glue the stamped paper to the embossed background card. Stamp with archival black ink on a red scrap using one of the larger heart doodles.  Fussy cut the heart out and glue it to the bottom left corner.

9. Taking the last two white cropped papers, stamp randomly with the connected circle stamp in yellow ink. Adhere that paper to the embossed paper, centering it. Take the remaining fussy cut embossed images (pens, ink bottle, etc) and arrange across the yellow inked paper. Leave room for journaling. Once you arrange the way you prefer, glue everything down.

10. Attach these to scrapbook pages, or slide into photo albums. Journal across them. Share your thoughts and dream through them.

Completed journaling cards.  Using this same technique, you can experiment with other stamps as well from Blank Page Muse to match your scrapbooking pages.
