Happy Friday and welcome to one of my most favorite times of the year. Fall. Halloween. Thanksgiving. Christmas. It has just been the past few years that I have really fallen in love with Halloween and dressing up and decorating my home with spooky skeletons and pumpkins. So when it was time to create a Halloween inspired layout with some of my favorite stamps, I was quite excited! 

I spent this past weekend in my studio creating and it was absolutely and amazing time. I knew I wanted to do a hexagon background and from there, everything just fell into place. 

I used my Silhouette Cameo to create a stencil and then a masking technique with a background stamp. You can go to my blog: Scrapbooking Technique to learn the techniques I used and how I created this layout. Here is a peak...

Fall Leaves Layout with Acetate

Hello!  Susie on the blog today and I am going back to my scrapbooking roots to share a fall layout.

One of the reasons I love living in northern Virginia is because we get all of the seasons here.  I have always loved fall because of the seasonal craft shows and holidays, but now I really enjoy the beautiful fall leaves when "every leaf is a flower".  Today I am sharing a quick idea so you can add those colorful leaves to your layouts, planners and cards!

Time to play...

Supplies:
Leaves Rubber Stamp Set Sheet by Terri Sproul
Stazon Inks- Mustard, Timber Brown, Pumpkin, Blazing Red
Elizabeth Crafts Dies - Planner Essentials 4 & 5
Stamping platform
Acetate sheet

Directions:

• Position your stamp(s) on a stamping platform.
• Place acetate in stamp platform on top of a sheet of white paper and secure with magnets and/or washi tape.
• Select several fall colors of StazOn ink.
• Apply the lightest color ink to all of the stamp surfaces and stamp the image(s) on the acetate.

• Apply layers of StazOn ink, one color at a time, until you have the desired colors.  Note: create a variegated effect by adding different color inks to only parts of the leaf surfaces before stamping. 

At this point you have options!  You can die cut the acetate to create planner inserts and card embellishments.

You can use the acetate sheets just like patterned papers on your layouts.  I love the large scale leaves in the background!

Add a favorite photo and you are done!

Stamping on acetate is so easy if you use a stamping platform and the right ink. To make sure you don't smear the images don't over ink your stamps and wait until the ink is dry before you handle it!

Creating Brick Background

Hi Stamping Friends,

Today's focus is on creating your own background paper.  My nephew celebrated his second birthday with a fire truck theme party.  The brick background stamp created the perfect matting paper for my main photo.  When you don't have the perfect patterned paper to match your photos, make your own.  Let me show you how.

Supplies:
1.  Brick Wall Section Art Rubber Stamp by Terri Sproul (Sin City Stamps)

2.  Black ink pad
3.  Dye ink pads (red, maroon, rust)
4.  Ink blending tool
5. Water spray bottle
6. non-stick craft mat

Directions:
1. Use black ink to stamp the brick image repeatedly onto white cardstock making sure to overlap the edge of the paper. To make a second generation image, don't re-ink the stamp and just re-position it and press it to the paper again. You may even apply a third generation impression. With each impression the intensity of the design lightens. Re-ink the stamp and continue to fill the background with first & second generation impressions leaving occasional empty spaces.

2. Swipe a red ink pad across a non-stick craft mat and mist lightly with water until you see small beads of ink forming.

3.  Next, place the stamped brick panel face down onto the wet beads of ink. Press down gently and move the paper around until all the ink is absorbed.

4.  Continue repeating the process with two other shades of red ink until you are satisfied with the blend of colors.

5. Use an ink blending tool to help blend the wet ink and cover any white areas.  Then add a hint of rust ink to the brick background panel.

6. Finally, matte the main photo and adhere it to the upper left side of the layout.

Today I'm going to share a pretty little layout that I created using the fun Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps & Art Journal 3 Stamp Sets.

First lets take a look at my layout and then I will take you through my process.

Sin City Supplies Used  Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps & Art Journal 3 Stamp Set

Other Supplies Used: Stazon Ink, Faber Castell Markers, Distress Ink, Art Anthology Velvet, Art Anthology Colorations Spray, Creative Embellishments Chipboard, Liquitex Modeling Paste, Misc Stencil, Prima Flowers, Misc Lace, Cheese Cloth & Twine


Now lets look at my process......


I started by building my background up using a a few scrap dictionary pages. After I added my pages I randomly stamped over the dictionary pages with a fairy stamp from the   Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps. (This gets covered up but its all about the layers !!)

Next I addded a layer of modeling paste for a bit of texture.

My next step was to start adding color I added a mix of Art Anthology Colorations and Velvet.

I continued to add to my background by randomly stamping words from the Art Journal 3 Stamp Set with coordinating Distress Ink colors.

 After I added the words, I continued adding random images with darker inks, I used a mix of  stamps from the  Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps & Art Journal 3 Stamp Set.

After I was happy with my background I started making a few layered butterfly embellishments. First I colored a dictionary page with Art Anthology Colorations spry, After it was dry I stamped the page repeatably with a butterfly from the Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps.

Then I fussy cut all theose little guys out and layered them up, aren't they cute! 

After I added these little guys to my flower clusters my page was complete!!

Hey there!  It’s Robin Redd, back with you to show you my second project with Sin City Stamps and Composimold.  I have to tell you, I’ve been having fun playing with my gel plate that I made with Composimold for my previous post.  I have even melted it again and made a new gel plate in a different size!  That’s another thing that makes Composimold so desirable!  If I happen to cut into my plate or gouge it with a sharp edge, all I have to do is make a new one with the same product.  Within MINUTES, a new plate will be ready to go!

Today I made some more collage papers using a lot of pretty colors from Art Anthology 

and some of my fun stencils I have.

Look at this pretty Cotton Candy Dimensional Paint from Art Anthology!

Here’s a sampling of the pretty collage papers I made.

Now, to show you how I put some of those pretty, gel-plate, collage, papers to use.  I started by painting a strip of some Cotton Candy paint from Art Anthology down one side of my 12” x 12” ‘canvas’.

I stamped the Romantic Background Stamp a few times on a piece of white sketch paper.

I free-hand cut quite a few scallops out of the stamped images.   

I made these various sizes, heights and widths to give my layout a whimsy look.

Next, I simply applied the scallops along one edge of my layout, 

next to my painted pink strip, using Liquitex Matte Medium.

With some coordinating collage papers I had just made 

I made a few layered, free-hand drawn and cut flowers.

1.        Cut three large circles out.

2.       Adhere a circle on another collage paper.

3.       Draw petals once then twice over the same petals to continue the whimsy look.

4.       Cut around petals.

I hand-drew the title of my page, #Pet and stamped Sin City’s stamp Love next to that.  

 I use that ‘hashtag’ when posting pictures of my pets on Instagram.

I’m pretty sure this ‘hello’ flair is from Recollections.

The scallops at the top were painted on with Limeade Dimensional Paint from Art Anthology.  

 I outlined them with a Scarlet Lime pen with works great when writing over paint.  

 I embellished the scallops with Queen’s Co Candy Stripers.

Be sure to use a permanent ink such as India ink when doodling 

so that the ink does not bleed when applying flowers or anything with matte medium.

This pretty pink bow is from Freckled Fawn.  I believe the enamel dots are from My Minds Eye.

And, here, is my completed layout featuring the loves of my life, Tootsie, Harley and Roxy….ha-ha!
