"Friendship"

Hello everyone! I am delighted to be here with you today. I would like to share with you a journal page I created, inspired by friendship and the vintage/retro theme. I realize it's Valentine's Day but, that doesn't mean we forget about our friends. They need love too! Which is exactly what inspired me to create this page, friendship. For this page, the stamps speak for themselves.

This photograph shows the background before I begin my inky stamping adventure! Background details: I sprayed some yellow and green colors on the paper and distressed the edges with black ink. Love this stamp by Pam, the possibilities are limitless!

I just had to share with you this beautiful image of the stamped circles once they are applied to the sparkly background. Journaling is so much fun! 

More beautiful images of lovely stamps, this time they are by Katie! They may just seem like simple little circles; but, wait until you see what's in store for you next. 

This page is turning out to be fantastic, isn't it!? 

Wow! Wow! Just look at all that stamping gorgeousness! 

Color in the paper dolls with the markers, wipe off excess color then heat set.   

Use the white marker to add some fun detail to the stamps.

Are you ready for something totally different today?

We are using Blank Page Muse BUT not any Blank Page Muse stamps you have!!!???!!!

Confused?

We are using Blank Page Muse "RUBBER"

BUT.....

We are using "OFFCUTS" of the stamps and stamp sets we have from Blank Page Muse!!!

If you are like me and hate to throw anything away you will relate to my thought process on today's tutorial and getting the most from your Blank Page Muse Stamps!!!

Supplies:

• Blank Page Muse "Rubber" - "off cuts" from trimming the stamps, "border" pieces from around the stamp sets
• Blank Page Muse ATCoins "Backs"
• Collage Elements and Wording - Art Tea Life used for these coins
• White Card
• ATCoin 2.5" die or circle punch
• Acrylic Blocks or Wood Blocks or Foam Blocks
• Distress Inks, Distress Oxides, Archival Inks
• Embossing Ink, Embossing Powders & Heat Gun
• General supplies: sponges, scissors, double sided tape, glue, scraps cloth or any other embellishments

Instructions:

Add double sided tape to your acrylic mount blocks. you could also use wood blocks or thick foam blocks and have these made up permanently.

This next photo will look familiar - off cuts and bits and pieces that are left over when you have finished cutting out your new Blank Page Muse Stamps.



Cut the border pieces into strips of varying lengths. As you can see below your can simply line up strips on the mount or make a criss-cross pattern. Endless options - just have some fun and experiment!

Use the larger pieces from between stamped images to cut into mosaic like tiles and create a pattern on your acrylic block!

This really looks so effective!

Once you have your "recycled" stamps ready you need to prepare your ATCoins. If you have a 2.5" die cut some circles from your white card using a Big Kick machine or the like. Alternatively use a 2.5" circle punch. Or if you do not have any of these draw a circle and cut out with scissors!

For the first ATCoin use Distress Oxide inks and a sponge and cover the entire coin.

Spritz the "mosaic" stamp and stamp onto the inked coin. You will get a mottled look which adds some interest to the coin. Play around and see what effects you can get! Allow to dry.

Using archival ink stamp the "criss-cross" pattern stamp over the background. Edge around the coin with the same colour ink. Coin is ready for embellishing!

For the second coin use a sponge and cover the background with vintage coloured Distress Inks.

Stamp the "lines" stamp with a darker brown coloured Distress Ink across the coin.

Use your embossing ink pad and stamp the same stamp on an angle as shown below and add embossing powder and heat emboss. An effective look with some sparkle! If you want to add distress ink around the edge of the coin to finish off you can.

And finally for the third coin stamp with embossing ink and the mosaic background stamp and emboss with white embossing powder. White always looks so stark and effective!

Use some pastel colour Distress Inks and sponge the background to fill the gaps between the mosaic shapes!

You have three different "look" ATCoins ready to decorate and embellish!

To finish the coins use collage elements or fussy cut stamps, wording and bits of muslin cloth or other embellishments of your choice.

Don't forget to stamp out backings for trading your coins using any of the three backing stamps available in the store!!!!! Cut them out by hand or use your die cut/punch and adhere to the backs of the coins. Who wants to trade???

A Fairytale Art Journal Layout by Jenn

Hi Sin City Friends and fans! It is my turn on the blog to share some of my work to inspire you to create something amazing with Sin City Stamps!!

 I just love these whimsical fairy and dragon stamps! You can purchase this set by clicking the image below. There is a sequel to this set available as well!

For this journal layout, I used a combination of products and several techniques. I started with a script stamp that was inked with a rainbow of colors as the base.

I used chalk inks. Let this dry before proceeding to next steps.

Spritz some ink in colors of your choice on a craft mat. Spritz with water and then dip stencil and lay on your page. Dry and repeat with next color. I used Art Anthology Colorations in Timeless and Waimea Bay here.

Stamp images onto a watercolor heavy paper with black ink and sprinkle with clear embossing powder to achieve a raised outline. Activate powder with a heat tool.
 To color images, use a water brush and watercolor pencils or paints.
Once dry add a pearlescent spray or powder for some glitz!

**TIP** cover your colored images with a watermarking or clear embossing ink and coat with clear embossing powder. Activate with a heat tool. This enables you to add water and other wet mediums once these images are on your page without changing the image colors.
Blend and dry in between colors.Fussy cut fairy image and use a circle punch for dragon and set aside.

 On to the circles.......................................................................................................................................
Using a heavy cardstock create a background that uses the same color palette as your images. For this I used stencils, texture paste, and spray inks. Use a variety of coordinating ink colors with stencils, drying in between. For texture add texture paste through another stencil. You can layer as much as you like so play! Have fun!

Once you achieve the pattern you like, use circle punches in various sizes to cut out and set aside. I added a few other colors than what is shown above. A pink and a purple were used.

Using a matte gel or other adhesive arrange and adhere your circles to your page.

On the other side add some hand drawn circles with watercolor pencils and water brush. Then adhere the fairy image.

Choose a pencil in a bright coordinating color such as the hot pink I used here and outline circles. Go over the drawn outlines with a paintbrush or water brush. As a final touch, I spritzed a few colors on the back of a stencil in a rainbow and lightly patted on this side to add a bit more color.

Butterfly Wings with Tamiko

I am always super excited to get some new stamps. I get so many ideas. When I received the Love of Butterflies Plate I couldn't even begin to narrow down the projects that came to mind.  Well I insisted on playing in my Cottonwood Arts ColdPress journal and let me show you what I created.

The supplies I used for this double page journal spread are:

• Colour Arte Twinkling H2Os- Various Colors
• Sin City Stamps- Love of Butterflies Plate
• Sin City Stamps- Circles by Pam Bray
• Sin City Stamps- Circle Collage by Terri Sproul
• Deco Art media Line Misters- Purple and Primary Cyan and Magenta
• Stazon Ink Pads- Blue Hawaii and Gothic Purple
• Faber Castell - Glass Bead Glitter Gel
• Water Color Paper 140lb
• Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive
• Misc items- paint brush, spatula, nylon netting, pink rhinestone mesh, scissors, water mister, pen and baby wipes

 Used Radiant Gel to lay down base background color.

Then used collaged circles and a baby wiped to remove some of the paint in a reverse stencil type motion.

Then took some netting and added a little more color back on the page  with the primary cyan mister.

I took a purple mister and mixed it with the glass bead gel and stenciled it across the upper side of the page using the circles stencil. (sorry my image showing the mixture for that was deleted)

  

While the bead gel dried.  I took some water color paper and did some quick washes of simular colors from the Twinkling H2Os.  Those are the coolest little pots of yummy shimmer goodness.  I do recommend spraying water in the pots and allowing them to sit and create  a bit of a paste before you paint with them. When you are done, make sure the pots are fully dry before closing.

I stamped some detailed butterfly images and fusssy cut them out.

Then I took my Helmar glue and added the bling.  I  adhered the butterflies to the page.

I also found a quote on pinterest- What if that change you're avoiding is the one that gives you wings.

Well I hoped you liked this page as much as I liked creating it.  It's got a lot of actual texture created by the paints and glitter beads with use of the stencils.  The butterflies themselves have small text and and images that also aid in texture too..
