It's Kim today and I made another small art journal page.

Just a quick look today...

It was fast and came together nicely. It was about a 20 minute project, easy to fit in between stuff!

I used my small art journal/sketchbook, it's about 4x4 inches or so.

I used a basic watercolor in tin set from Hobby Lobby because it's fast and easy and has lots of colors.

I applied the colors with waterbrushes. I dried the layers with a heat tool to speed things up.

I used a black Uni-Ball Air Micro pen for the boxey border. The pens is so much fun. If you apply some water fairly quickly, it will give you a gentle wash.

The white micro dots are Signo Uni-Ball White Gel. The stamps were stamped with Stazon and Versafine Clair which smudged a bit but I like it, it made it softer and blended into the page.

The sentiment I stamped with Stazon to keep it crisper.

The big white dots were made with the white watercolor on top of the dried surface. 

The awesome stamps are some of my favorite. They are from the Woodlands stamp set designed by Donna Gray for us! She hand carved the designs that we turned into rubber stamps.

Hugs

Good day, fellow crafters. It's Tamara once again, with a new post showcasing my latest card created using  Blank Page Muse products! Today, I’m crafting a heartfelt "Hugs" design that’s all about embracing those soft, watercolor vibes and delicate florals—perfect for sending a little love to someone special. Picture this: a dreamy oval frame in lush purples and pinks, splashed with ethereal ink blends that fade into galaxy-like shimmers, cradling a cluster of white-outlined dahlias that seem to bloom right off the page. A touch of gold outlines the edges for that subtle elegance, while sparkling gems catch the light like tiny stars. To create this project, you will need the following:

Stamps

• Flower & Bird Sketches Art Rubber Stamp
• Sentiment of your choice (I chose one from my stash) 

 Paper

• (1) Watercolor paper panel - 4.25" x 5.5"
• (1) Purple Cardstock - 4.25" x 5.5"
• (1) Gold Metallic Cardstock  - 4.25" x 5.5"
• (1) Black Cardstock  - 4.25" x 5.5"
• (1) White A2 card base 

Pigment Powders

• Pigment powders (brand of your choice, must be water soluble)

Inks

• Watermark ink 

Tools

• Sticky mat (optional but very useful to hold work in place without using tape)
• Embossing folder (I chose one from my stash) 
• Scissors
• Liquid glue
• Paper Trimmer
• Border die(s) of choice 
• Die-cut machine
• Stamping tool (I use a Misti)
• Anti-static bag
• White embossing powder 
• Heat tool
• Flat-backed pearls
• Double-sided adhesive - Low tack
• Watercolor paint brushes
• Paper towels
• Cup of clean water 

Process: 

• Place the watercolor panel on the stamping platform and secure it with the stamping tool.
• Attach the floral stamp to the stamping platform, centered over the panel, using double-sided tape if needed.
• Dust the watercolor panel with an anti-static bag to prevent stray embossing powder.
• Ink the floral stamp with watermark ink and stamp the image onto the panel with even pressure, repeating 1–2 times for complete coverage.
• Remove the panel from the stamping platform, sprinkle white embossing powder over the stamped image, and use a heat tool to emboss. This will create a resist for the next step.
• Place the panel onto a secure surface that can handle contact with water (I use my glassboard mat for this step). Lightly sprinkle the powder pigments over the panel randomly.
• Using a damp watercolor brush, spread the powders around the panel, allowing them to dissolve. Once covered, allow to dry.
• Using the purple cardstock, the embossing folder of your choice, and a die-cutting machine, create the embossed panel. I personally like to mist the back of my cardstock when putting it into an embossing folder to loosen the fibers and prevent potential tears, but that is optional. Once complete, set aside.
• Using the black cardstock and the sentiment die of your choice, die cut the sentiment. For dimension, you could cut several and stack them for some added height. This is optional, and I did not do this step. Set aside.
• Using the border die of your choice (I chose a set from one of my infinity dies), die cut the focal panel and the gold cardstock, making sure to use the larger die on the gold for a revealed edge.
• Using the paper trimmer, trim down the background embossed panel to leave a reveal of 1/8 inch on both sides.
• Use liquid glue to assemble all of the components onto the white card base.
• For visual interest, add some flat-back pearls in an odd number and a triangular pattern to draw the eye of the viewer. Three pearls arching like a subtle constellation add that final sparkle.

Leap and Soar

Good day, fellow crafters. It's Tamara once again, with a new post showcasing my latest card created using  Blank Page Muse products! Today, I’m crafting a heartfelt tribute to those rare souls who lift us higher—a delicate bird poised on the brink of flight, its wings etched with the quiet wisdom of a muse who dared me to dream beyond the nest. As the first light of dawn kisses the horizon, that solitary silhouette unfurls against the vast, whispering sky, a fragile echo of the magic you sparked in me: not with spells or secrets, but with the steady hand of encouragement, murmuring, "Leap." You taught me to fly, turning blank pages into soaring symphonies of ink and possibility, where every tremor of doubt fuels the rush of feathers against the wind. Join me on this feather-light adventure as we explore how a simple stamp set and sentiment can capture the thrill of wings once clipped, now chasing the untamed currents of what’s possible.

To create this project, you will need the following:

Stamps

• Flower & Bird Sketches Art Rubber Stamp
• Sentiment of your choice (I chose one from my stash) 

 Paper

• (1) Watercolor paper panel - 4.25" x 5.5"
• (3) White A2 Card base - 4.25" x 5.5"
•  (1) White A2 card base 

Watercolors

• Watercolor pigments (brand of your choice, mine is an older Altenew set)

Inks

• Black ink
• Blue ink 
• Yellow ink
• Brown ink
• Watermark ink 

Tools

• Sticky mat (optional but very useful to hold work in place without using tape) 
• Scissors
• Liquid glue
• Paper Trimmer
• Border die(s) of choice 
• Die-cut machine
• Stamping tool (I use a Misti)
• Anti-static bag
• White embossing powder 
• Heat tool
• Flat-backed pearls

• Ink Blending brush(es) or applicator(s) 

Process: 

• Place the watercolor panel on the stamping platform and secure it with the stamping tool.
• Attach the bird stamp to the stamping platform, centered over the panel, using double-sided tape if needed.
• Dust the watercolor panel with an anti-static bag to prevent stray embossing powder.
• Ink the bird stamp with watermark ink and stamp the image onto the panel with even pressure, repeating 1–2 times for complete coverage.
• Remove the panel from the stamping platform, sprinkle white embossing powder over the stamped image, and use a heat tool to emboss, creating “wells” for pigment.
• Secure the panel to a work surface (e.g., an old wooden clipboard) for painting.
• Moisten watercolor pigments with a paintbrush and water to activate them.
• Use a clean paintbrush to apply the lightest watercolor pigment to the desired areas of the embossed image, starting with light colors, and let it dry completely.
• Using the sticky mat, secure one of the cardstock panels in place.  
• Using the Yellow ink and light pressure, blend the paper to your desired hue—aim for a gentle sunrise glow.
• Repeat the previous step with a second piece of White cardstock, creating matching sunny frames.
• Using two of the border dies of differing sizes and the now Yellow cardstock, use your die-cutting machine to cut out the panels. These will form the window edges.
• In turn, secure each Yellow panel to the sticky mat and add the Brown accents, see photo for reference. A subtle flick of brown ink along the edges mimics weathered branches, grounding your bird's flight.
• Once completed, set aside to dry—patience here ensures crisp layers.
• Using the last of the White cardstock, secure it to the sticky mat and then use the Blue ink to make a sky-like effect. I used the borders to figure out the placement, blending from soft to a deeper cerulean for depth.
• Remove the panel from the sticky mat and place the panel into the stamping platform. Secure the stamp into position, ink it with black ink, and stamp, re-inking and re-stamping if necessary.
• Remove the panel from the stamping platform and trim it to the same size as the border dies—precision here makes assembly a breeze.
• Adhere the panels together, creating a window effect, see photo for reference. The nested borders reveal glimpses of the sky and sentiment, framing your focal point.
• Be sure to adhere the bird in between the window panels—it's the heart of the card.
• Adhere the composite panel to the White A2 card base with liquid glue, centering it for balanced elegance.
• For visual interest, add some flat-back pearls in an odd number and a triangular pattern to draw the eye of the viewer. Three pearls arching like a subtle constellation add that final sparkle, echoing the stars your muse helped you reach.

Christmas Wishes

It is not too late to start your Christmas cards!  Even if you don't send Christmas cards this is an easy technique to make a lot of cards in a short amount of time.  You can do this technique with any stamps.

Other Supplies:

Watercolor paper

Dinkles Powder - Pine

Silicone mat

Versafine Black Ink

Embossing Powder Clear

Heat Tool

Wide tip gold Sharpie

Stamp images on watercolor paper with black Versafine ink. Heat emboss with clear embossing powder. 

On a silicone mat sprinkle Dinkles powder, spritz with water to dissolve the powder.  With image face down place the watercolor paper in the water on the silicone mat. 

When the watercolor has dried, edge with wide tip gold pen. Mat on black cardstock.

Nothing But Owls

Did you know that Fall is called "Hooting Season" I have been reading up on owls, the acoustics are better this time of year as the streams are lower. It is after most fledglings have left the nest and it is time re-establish boundaries after spending so much time at the nest.  Owls are the inspiration for my cards today.

Stamp the images on smooth watercolor paper with VersFine black ink, heat emboss with clear embossing powder. 

With the watercolors paint the owls in oranges and browns, let dry. Then paint the sky a faint blue, let dry. I added some watercolor leaves to the large stamped owl.  When the watercolors are dry stamp "I was thinking of you today" and "Dream BIG" with VersaFine. 

Along the bottom of the black mat double sided adhesive as pictured.  Cover with Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes.

Edge watercolor owl card with wide tip gold Sharpie pen. Mount the owl on the black mat. Adhere the mat to the card base.

Fall Trees

Fall is one of my favorite seasons, I love the colors of the changing leaves!  

The colors are so beautiful.  

Today I am taking inspiration from the leaves that have been falling. I took the Bare Tree Silhouette stamp and water colored the picture with fall colors in two different cards.

Stamp the images on smooth watercolor paper with VersFine black ink, heat emboss with clear embossing powder. 

I love watercolors, as you can see one set is not enough!  Paint the ground in greens and browns, let dry. Then paint the sky a faint blue, let dry. 

Using a mixture of reds, oranges. yellows and browns for leaves.  Do not try and paint individual leaves, add blobs of color and you will get the effect of leaves. Let each color dry before adding the next, or the colors will blend, and you will have a muddy mess. 

When the watercolors are dry, along the bottom of the card place double sided adhesive as pictured.  Cover with Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes. Edge card with wide tip gold Sharpie pen. Stamp THANK YOU with black ink on the car. Add a few gems to the card. Mount the finished panel on black cardstock and adhere to the card. 

The owl has leaves flying around the tree giving the effect of a blustery day. When the watercolors are dry. Edge card with wide tip gold Sharpie pen. Stamp THANK YOU with black ink on white cardstock and mount on black cardstock. Add a few gems to the card. Mount the finished panel on black cardstock and adhere to the card.

 A little Asian Flair

Good day, fellow crafters. It's me, Tamara, and today, I'm excited to unveil a captivating new design on the Blank Page Muse blog, inspired by my deep appreciation for the Far East and its vibrant cultural traditions. To get started, you will need the following:

• Blank Page Muse Japanese Characters Background  
• Blank Page Muse Geisha Collage
• High quality watercolor paper
• Coffee
• Black, brown and red ink pads
• Clear embossing powder
• Masking tape
• Watercolor pigments
• Cardstock
• liquid glue

Begin by immersing the watercolor paper in coffee for a full twenty-four hours to achieve a deeply weathered and aged appearance. As the paper dries, it adopts the warm, sepia-toned hues and slightly textured surface reminiscent of vintage posters you might find tucked away in an antique shop. This intentional aging process gave the paper a beautifully distressed look that perfectly complements the historical theme of my design.

Following the aging process of the paper, move on to create the background. I used the Japanese Characters Background stamp with brown ink to introduce an element of subtle depth and texture. To ensure the characters appeared subtly, first ink the stamp and press onto a scrap piece of paper—a technique known as 'stamping off. ' This step removes excess ink so that when it is stamped onto the background panel, the characters will be faint and contribute to the card's aged appearance.

This method was effective in giving the design a more authentic, worn look, as if the characters had been part of the paper for decades.

The next step in creating the background panel was the addition of the Geisha Collage stamp. To begin, mask off the large character on the left side of the stamp with some masking tape to keep it ink-free. Then apply black ink to the remaining parts of the stamp. After removing the masking tape, I inked the previously covered character in red before applying the entire stamp on my background panel. 

Next, while the stamped image is still wet, sprinkle clear embossing powder over the ink and heat set it in preparation for the next step which was to water color the image. 

(I personally like to add this step when I use watercolor pigments because the melted embossing powder provides a bit of a well to apply your pigments too which assists in reducing bleed through of colors.) Once the embossing is set, secure the panel to your work surface and water colored the image. 

While the image dries, choose some cardstock colors that fit together with your theme, in this case red and black, them trim them to their final dimensions to act as mats for the background panel.  Then adhere them together with the image onto a white card base.

Easy Watercoloring

Hello! Welcome back to the BPM blog! I am glad you are here. Today's card technique is about watercoloring. Do you like to watercolor? I watercolor occasionally depending on my crafting mood and depending on the image I will color. 

I used the Mr. G & Words Stamp set on my card. This image is very easy to color with any coloring medium. I stamped the giraffe on a watercolor paper using a watercolor friendly ink. I colored the image with bold, vibrant watercolors. I added a wash of blue watercolor for the background of the giraffe.

For the sentiment, I used my a stamp positioner to break down the sentiment into four lines so it will fit in the open white space next to the watercolored portion of the panel. 

I applied watercolor to each word using the same colors I used on the giraffe. 

I could have made this into a CAS card but I decided to trim off the edges and matte this panel with a light blue cardstock.
