October's Featured Artist - Barbara Rankin

Hello everyone.   We are starting a new feature over at Sin City Stamps.  The first Wednesday of each month, Sin City Stamps will be highlighting one of their amazing artists, showcasing  their designs and art.  I encourage you to stop by frequently to see new products, designs, and examples of what can be created with the fabulous stamps, stencils, and chipboard products designed just for you!  I get to go first!!!  And be sure to read to the bottom of this post for a fabulous offer!

My name is Barbara Rankin, and I am not only a member of the Sin City Stamps Design Team, but I am honored and excited to also be an artist for Sin City Stamps. I love all forms of "crafting", from sewing, to needlework, to paper crafting, to my newest love, mixed media.  From my earliest beginnings, I have always been fond of dimension, and to this day, I still love creating with dimension.  My style is varied, but I truly love vintage, Victorian, Steampunk, and shabby chic.  I have been published in several magazines, as well as contributing artist in a book that showcases mini albums, another form of art I really love.  Depending on my mood, and sometimes, the seasons, my art will take shape from my surroundings.  I also love quotations, and I use them as my jumping off point a lot.

My first design for Sin City Stamps is this Shrine Chipboard Book Designed by Barbara Rankin.  It is quite versatile, and can be used as a free standing frame to sit on your table or fireplace mantel.  I have even used these shrines to make a mini album, with complete directions you can view by clicking here.  You can decorate and display it to feature your favorite photographs, or even use it to commemorate the changing of the seasons, as I have done here with my "Autumn Beauty".  The possibilities are endless!

Closeup of Deer Under Trees

Much to my surprise and excitement, the Deer Under Trees chipboard piece fit perfectly with my shrine and gave such a wonderful view outside the window.  I actually placed myself inside looking out at the beautiful turning leaves of the tree, and the cute deer in my yard.  Ahhh, Fall is upon us!

Lilac Canvas - Pan Pastel & Sin City Stamps

Hello and welcome. It's Gracie from Graciellie Design and I'm excited to be here once more, to share with you a new project. This month Sin City Stamps has partnered with PanPastel, and I am very excited! My teammates have been presenting such creative projects on the Sin City Stamps' blog showcasing products from both companies, and they've done an amazing job.

PanPastel is such a forgiving medium, it blends so well, it can be corrected with a simple eraser, and it has such rich color, it's is a delight to work with them!

For my project I used PanPastel in Lilac and Lilac Tint together with Sin City Stamps chipboard pieces and rubber stamps. I made a canvas, embellished with handmade flowers and many other elements.

Sin City Stamps Design Team Blog Going Crazy For Girls Autograph Book

My daughter was going to a large concert in our area called Van's Warp Tour

we were going to getting lots of autographs so I wanted to do something special for her.

Below is the step by step and list of products used.  The new Sin City Stamps Chipboard Pieces the new girl line is so cute…

I put the book together with an old Chipboard Album I had - I don't have any of the details I guess I took it out of the packaging years ago and it was just sitting in a box.  I adhered different scrapbooking paper to the inside pages. I put some printed burlap on the cover and then I ripped up some handmade paper to the front and started to play with my Lindy Stamp Gang sprays…  this is where I was before I really got creative.

While I like the color…. of course it didn't look good - and then my box arrived from Sin City stamps  I pulled out these new Chipboard girls and BOOM… And Idea - Nicole with going for 4 other girls so this cover was perfect.

So each page we had the bands sign and I had a Instant Photo Camera Fuji I used this to take the photos of the bands signing the book - or of her and them - and on 1 side has the photos and the other would be the autograph.

Pulled out my Stencils from Sin City Stamps (See below for details) - and Light Modeling paste.

Then while the book was drying I pulled out the Chipboard Girls and my Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays with a paint brush and just started painting the girls.

Once the girls were done and drying - I took to my Lindy's Stamp Gangs and prayed the cover - lots of different color just spray until you get the look you like.

I then took Aleene's Tacky Glue and attached them onto the book.  

I also filled in some spots with Black Paint - as well as around the edges.

Here's some fun photos from the concert… I tried to get the book now that it has all the instant photos with autograph but my daughter is too busy at looking that the memories to release it back to me.

Sin City Stamps Design Team - Elementary School comes to an end mini book

So as the title reads my son is Graduating 8th Grade - time has really just gone into fast forward motion at this point.

I can't believe that I will not have any kids in Middle School - a school that I attended.

Very weird.
