Guest Designer Samantha~ Celebrate Hand Stamped Sunflower Card!

Hello, hello. Samantha here with a clean, simple, elegant card to share with you today.
Sometimes I like to leave stamped images uncolored. The black and white can create a striking look and highlight a stamp in ways that coloring it cannot; especially when the stamp is one as highly detailed as those from Blank Page Muse.

Today's card features a background created with single stamp. Left uncolored it is a bold and yet soft look as the flowers peek through an ethereal layer of vellum.

For this card you will need the following:

Sunflower Blossom Rubber Stamp by Pam Bray Designs

A piece of white cardstock cut to 5.5" x 4"

A piece of vellum cut to 6.5" x 3.5"

A black, A2 sized card base

A simple word die

Gems or sequins

To begin you will stamp the Sunflower to your white cardstock three times, leaving it uncolored.

Score your vellum at .5" and 6" along the 6.5" side. Fold and adhere one .5" fold against one end of your card panel. Leave the other end unattached.

Glue your die cut to the front of the vellum as well as your gems or sequins.

Lift the vellum, apply adhesive behind the die cut and embellishments, and attach the other .5" fold to the other end of the panel.

Adhere the card front to your card base.

Guest Designer Jenn ~ Home Decor Anything But a Card Challenge

Hello everyone! I'm so happy to be back on the blog today with this month's theme of Not a Card.

I created a little piece of home decor—something you could put on a desk or a shelf or anywhere really!

I started with a small wooden pot that I picked up at a local craft store.

I painted it with some acrylic paint in yellow and a sort of raspberry color. I am really into this color palette lately. I like how the colors combine to make orange so you really end up with three colors. (At the last minute, I added some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink and a little white paint as well. You can see that in the pictures at the end.)

Once the pot was dry, I stamped all sides of it with the gorgeous Fancy Curls & Flowers Flourish Art Rubber Stamp by Terri Sproul. I love this stamp!!

Next, I stamped the Bird Open Wings Patterned Art Rubber Stamp with black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Once I fussy cut it, I colored it with Distress Oxide Ink in Mustard Seed and Picked Raspberry. I ended up cutting the bird shape on another piece of paper and coloring that with Distress Oxide Ink as well. I needed to be able to hide the wire I was going to use to hold up the bird. (A photo of that is at the end.)

I got a piece of floral wire, cut it to length, and wrapped it in washi tape.

Then I took my stamped, embossed, and colored bird along with my plain bird shape and put them together on the wire using mounting tape. I put a small piece of floral foam in the bottom of the pot and put the wire in.

I added some Spanish moss and dabbed it with some white paint for a little contrast.

Finally, I stamped the Dare to Fly Small Word Art Stamp on white paper, cut it to size, layered it with black paper, and adhered it to the pot.

I really enjoyed making this! It was just the right project to welcome spring.

Guest Designer Tracy Ware Crafty Blocks~Anything But a Card Challenge

Hey Blank Page Muse fans!  Tracy here with our March challenge, 

which is "Anything But A Card." 

 I’m going to be honest here any say that this one scared me a little.  Why? 

 Because I always tend to stick with cards.  

With a card, I know the size of my canvas and I don’t feel overwhelmed 

with something other than those 

four by five inches!  So let’s get in to it!

For my project that was not a card, I chose to do wooden blocks.  

I happen to remember that I had these three blocks in a box in my craft room, 

so I dug them out and got to work

I really had fun making this project and have already started another set!

You can find these blocks in different sizes at your local craft store in their wooden section.  

These blocks measure two inches.  

To begin, I rubbed the edges of the blocks with a Distress Oxide Ink, 

only because I didn’t want to see

 the raw edges of the wood.  You don’t have to use Distress Oxide ink.  

You can use whatever you happen to have on hand.

  Dye ink or even cheap acrylic paint would work well too. 

 These were taking a little while to dry, so I did use my heat tool on them to speed up

 that drying time.

Next, I cut some strips of cardstock down to two inches and did some ink blending 

with Distress Oxide inks.  

I’ve been in a green and blue mood lately, so that’s what I chose. 

 Choose any colors that make you happy or colors that go with a scheme that

 you might have in mind for your own blocks. 

 I spritzed my strips with some water to activate the ink and get those cool spots.

Now comes the fun part!  

I trimmed my strips of cardstock down to squares that are just under two inches each.  

I cut them that way so that the cardstock wouldn’t hang over the edges of the blocks.

I then stamped my squares with all sorts of fun images in dye ink from Blank Page Muse  

I even did some doodling and added more color in some areas, 

as well as stamped some cute little inspirational phrases.  

Some of the stamps that I used are from the Dandelion Wishes with Butterflies set, 

a few stamps from the Scribble & Scratch Mixed Media Set 2,

 the Butterfly Art Stamp, 

the Flower & Leaves Border,

 and the Diamond Repeating Pattern Background stamp.

Once all of my squares were stamped,

 I adhered them to the blocks with liquid glue and cleaned up around the edges 

where some glue oozed out.

For the phrases, I just used a tiny alphabet set that 

I found at the local craft store and stamped those in dye ink as well.

  I like the idea of having a fun inspirational quote here and there on the blocks.

Once my blocks were complete, I painted them with a matte gel medium on each side

 just to keep the Distress Oxide inks from smearing, smudging or bleeding.

 As I mentioned earlier, I have already started on another set of six blocks which are 3 1/2”

 that I’ll display in my craft room!  They already look so cool and they aren’t even finished!

Hello friends! I am so excited to be guest designing for the Blank Page Muse and welcome to my first
post for the March Challenge – Anything but cards. One of my friends recently said to me that it would be wonderful to have one of my cards standing on her desk instead of having to put them away in a treasure box. And so, I decided to make it happen!

I used the gorgeous Background Roses 4 x 5 Red Rubber Stamp by Pam Bray to make my little piece of art. I stamped the background on Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock with Versafine ink and heat
embossed over it with Brutus Monroe Alabaster Sparkle embossing powder. Next, I ink blended over it with Distress Oxides – Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Candied Apple and Seedless Preserves. I applied some Rainbow Deco Foil over die cut words and adhered them to my panel. I trimmed the panel down to 3”X 4.35” and adhered it to a piece of black cardstock trimmed to 4.25”X 5.5” with fun foam. Next, I die cut a frame from white cardstock using Pinkfresh Studios dies and added to around the pink panel.

To make my panel stand, I trimmed a piece out of my Cheerios cereal box to the same size as my
finished black panel. I used cut to slanting lines and scored along the inner edge to fold it out like the
back of a photo frame. I adhered this stand to the back of my panel and called it done! You could add
some pattern paper or gift wrap paper over the cereal box card if you want to make it more fancy. But I liked the Kraft look and decided to leave it that way.

I think this is a great way to upcycle some cereal boxes and use your background stamps to make pretty décor pieces for your desk.

Sparkly Awesome Texture~Card By Guest Designer Samantha!

Hello, hello! Samantha Ziegenfuss here. I am elated to be back on the Blank Page Muse blog bringing you another guest design.

It seems like I am always in need of birthday cards and I think that a birthday card made with the Henna Floral Motif Decorative Art Rubber Stamp by Shaloo Webster would be the perfect one to give to just about anyone.

To begin I stamped the Floral Motif stamp to a watercolor panel I'd cut to 4" x 5.25" with sticky embossing ink. I stamped it twice, shifting the stamp each time. I heat set the image with gold embossing powder.

Next I used Turquoise watercolor paint to fill in some of the leaves. When that was dry I filled in the remaining leaves with a vivid Hyacinth Violet watercolor paint.

When all the watercolor paint was dry I splattered black acrylic paint across the entire watercolor panel.

I stamped the Happy Birthday Phrase Rubber Stamp onto black cardstock and heat set in white embossing powder. I trimmed it down when I was done.

I layered my watercolored panel onto a piece of black cardstock cut to 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" and then adhered it all to a white A2 sized card base.

I placed my sentiment slightly overhanging the edge of the matted card panel and added a few gold sequins to tie it all together.

Guest Designer Sue~Stunning Nature Girl Inspiration & Last Day to play in the February Challenge

Hey there! My name is Sue Symens. Also known as Sentimentally Sue or SentSue. I am popping on the Blank Page Muse blog today to do a little guest designing. I am excited to share some cards with you for the Blank Page Muse February Challenge. The challenge for February is to use three or more stamps on your card. I am hopping my cards will spark a little creativity for you, and you will join the fun on this challenge.

My first card started with a watercolor panel that I wet and used my watercolor pens to create a loose heart and a wash of pinks, purple and red.

 

 After the panel dried I stamped the Shorthand Writing Note Segment Background in mauve ink over the heart image. Then taking the small floral image from the Nature Girl stamp set I stamped it in black ink and colored them with alcohol markers adding some Stickels to the flower centers.  I also stamped the girl and her wings on heavyweight white card stock. Then colored her with alcohol markers, fussy cut her out and added Stickels to the wings.

The greeting from the Set of 3 Sentiment Phrases was stamped in black ink on the watercolor panel. I trimmed the panel down to 4” by 5.25” and mounted to a white top-folding card base with foam tape. Then mounted the girl to the card front to the card with foam tape. (Five Stamps)

My next card started with a side folding white card base that I stamped the Flowers Texture Background Frame stamp with pale gray ink. Then I stamped the leaf from the Nature Girl set three times in the frame window in black ink. I then colored it with alcohol markers.

Finally I stamped the greeting from the Set of 3 Sentiment Phrases in 

black ink on a scrap if white card stock, added to card front with foam tape and added a few black glossy Nuvo drops. (Three Stamps)

My final card started with a 4” by 5.25” white panel that I traced a circle with pencil to build my wreath. Then stamping the fern image from the Nature Girl stamp set in three colors of green ink over the light pencil line staggering the colors.

The girl and small flower image from the Nature Girl set was stamped in black ink and heat embossed with clear detail powder. The greeting from Tim Holtz Small Talk Stickers was heat embossed with clear powder and layered on the panel. I then mounted the panel to a black card base.
