Gift Card Holder on a Burlap Background

 

Hello! Welcome back to the Blank Page Muse Blog. For today's card, I used the BPM Denim & Lace Digital Printable Kit. This is my second post in this month using this digital kit. I used one of the pocket digital print outs on my card. This page includes two pocket images. After I downloaded the page, I cropped the pocket image I used on my card. You don't have to. I just like to maximize my paper by collating all the images I will be using on a project. 

I resized this image to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". I used Word for Windows in editing the image. I set the margins to zero to maximize the area on the white lightweight cardstock.

The pocket print out has outlines included in the design for folding the image into a pocket. I scored on the line print outs.

The pocket print out also has a notch line printed as part of its design. I used a circle punch to create the notch but you can use scissors instead.

To create the burlap, I adhered a heavy weight kraft cardstock to a double adhesive sheet. 

I burnished the double adhesive sheet to the cardstock. I ran this through my die cut machine using a burlap die. With the adhesive on the back of this intricate die cut, it was easier to adhere it to an acetate and make it look like its floating.

For the sentiment, I prepped the digital print out for embossing using an anti-static powder tool. After stamping the sentiment using a black pigment ink, I poured clear embossing powder over it, then heat set it. 

I adhered glue to the sides of the small flap to create the pocket to insert a gift tag into.

I stamped a sentiment on the inner first flap of this gift card holder. I trimmed off an 8th of an inch from the top and bottom of this gift card holder before adhering it to the burlap background.

Doesn't that digitally printed burlap look real?

Birthday Card with a Gift Card Pocket

Hello! Welcome back to the Blank Page Muse Blog. Last month, Blank Page Muse released the Denim & Lace Digital Printable Kit. This kit includes 4 zip files. It features junk journal images for printing at home. But who said it can only be used for junk journal, right?

One advantage of digital prints is that you can crop out the image that you will use on your project. You can combine all these images on a sheet for easy printing and also to save on paper. Another advantage is being able to resize these digital images. You can also maximize the printing area by rotating some of the images which I did on the tags on the bottom of the paper. 

I used a paper trimmer to cut the printed digital images.

I used a craft knife to trim off the tags.

I switched to the scissors to cut the curves.

I used a small circle punch for the small buttons. 

For the larger button, I used a small circle die to cut it off. The circle die I used is not open on the center so I created a cutting template to guide me cut the digital print button. I die cut the circle on a scrap cardstock. I lined the opening to the digital print button. I secured the papers together with a washi tape. I positioned the circle die over the opening of the cardstock template.

I ran this through the die cut machine. If the button does not get cut with the first passing, this trick should leave a marking on the digital print button to guide you in positioning the circle die. Just run it through the die cut machine without the template and it should cut the circle.

I blended brown ink on the edges of the rectangular brown digital paper.

I also inked the edges of the digital print tags, strips and buttons.

For the sentiment, I used gold letter rub ons. I used a bone folder to transfer the rub ons to the digital printed tag. 

It might not be perfectly aligned but I like it. 

I used a hole punch to add a hole to the tags.

I added metallic snaps to the tags using an eyelet setter. 

When I was editing these images, I resized this brown panel to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" but somehow, the print out it is about a fourth inch shorter than an A2 card.

I adhered a gold washi tape to the ends of the front card panel to cover the white edges. I adhered the brown dotted panel to the front of the note card.

I adhered the tags to the card front. I adhered the wide digital print strip over the tags making it look like the tags are tucked inside this blue strip pocket.

I love the print on this wide blue strip. It looks very realistic.

I need to create a pocket for a gift card. I adhered the same gold washi tape to the sides on the inside of the card, on the bottom part, mimicking the design of the card front. I added a thin line of glue to the sides and bottom edge of the digital print strip. I adhered this on top of the gold washi tape. I made sure that the bottom of the strip is aligned to the bottom edge of the card.

I adhered the buttons to both strips as additional accents.

Digital Prints on Art Journal

 

Hello! Welcome back to the BPM blog. Blank Page Muse just released a new printable paper digital download set, the BPM Summer Citrus Digital Papers, Ephemera, Pockets & Tags Printables. For this month, I am going to use the downloads to showcase a couple of ways to encorporate this to your craft.

The images come in .png format. After downloading it, I saved it as a .jpg format so I can add the images to the Micrsoft Word. It is usually the full sheet of digital downloads that get added to MS Word. From here, you can alter the sheet of images. Make it larger, smaller or crop the image/s that you want to use. For this project, I printed the full sheet of images. I printed it on an 8.5" x 11" Hammermill Premium Color Copy Cover Stock. I resized one of the images incorrectly which you can see on the topmost sheet on the above photo. I got so focused on getting the right size for the other image on the same sheet since I plan to use it on a project for this month. 

But it's alright. I was still able to use this printed image on this project. Nobody will know that it is an incomplete print out. I trimmed it to size and cut it on the middle.

I folded the digital print leaving a tab on the bottom on three of the four digital prints. I folded the fourth piece halfway since this will be flushed on the edge of the journal. You can use a bone folder to score before folding. I did not. I used the bone folder to press on the fold for a crisp look. 

I inked the edges of all the digital prints after it was cut out to give it a vintage look.

I always try to add some stitching on my projects since I really love to stitch. I pulled out from my craft treasure box an old We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Stitch Piercer to add holes on the journal paper. This tool has a newer version, in case you are interested. 

I sew near the fold of the folded journal panel. I sew it to the tab of another journal panel. I used a poking tool to add holes to the tab area using the holes of the poked journal panel as a guide. 

I did not have enough journal sheets printed from the collection. I used some leftover digital prints from my stash. This print is from the BPM Frosty Night Christmas Printable Papers, Ephemera Digital Download. Who said that you can only use a paper from a Holiday collection during Christmas? 

I did a running stitch using 6 strands of DMC embroidery floss. 

The two stitches on each end attached this journal to the tab of the journal behind it. Sort of like book binding but with a waterfall look. The rest of the stitching is just decorative stitching. 

I fussy cut the tags and most of the ephemera. I was planning to use my Cricut machine to do the cutting but my printer ran out of ink.

One thing I love about tags is adding hole reinforcers. I have a die that cuts a hole reinforcer but this is very easy to make. Just die cut or punch a small circle then die cut or punch a smaller circle on the center. 

Another thing I like about tags is adding ribbons or trims to it. The one I used frays. Instead of using a lighter to melt the edge, I used my heat tool. This melted the tip to stop it from fraying.

These are the tag inserts I will add to the pocket journal.

I adhered the folded journals to my art journal. I only applied adhesive to the sides so it does not interfere with the pockets.

This digital sheet includes washi tape images. To make it look like a true washi tape, I ripped the edges using a washi tape cutter.

I added some embossing to these washi tape print outs to add some interest although I wished I kept some without embossing.

I embossed one of the washi tape prints with a sentiment using an embossing folder. I inked the embossed impression to make the sentiment pop. You can stamp or write on it instead.

I fussy cut one of the prints on the sheet. I cut it leaving a slim border around it. There are some intricate parts on this image that I think it will be difficult to cut the image on the line.

I adhered some of the washi tape prints to the folds. I tucked the tags in the pocket. I also was able to tuck one of the washi tapes and the fussy cut print out on the sides of this waterfall journal.

This is how the journal pockets look when opened. It is kept closed by the tags. The one on the bottom has a tendency to open. I plan to keep it close with a decorative paper clip. 

I have nothing written on these mini journal pages. I plan to jot down goals for the coming months on it.

Summer Citrus Junk Journal Kit for you to Print at Home Digital Download

 Hello and Happy Summer!

This week  we have a brand new digital download in the shop to share with you.

It's called Summer Citrus and it features lemons and oranges and cute flower papers. There are tags, pockets, journaling cards and papers. Lots to use for your handmade cards, journals and scrapbooking needs.

I made a sample two page layout to share with you today. I printed the papers on an Epson Ecotank printer with it set to High for better color printing. I ran our of my go to paper by Hammermill. So I used regular copy paper. 

I used one of my own homemade blank books, it's about 5x7 inches. I distressed the edges and attached to the journal book pages.

Fussy cut, trim, distress and INK those edges with your favorite ink color.

I overlapped the two pockets and attached to the page. 

Fill the pockets as you like.

I inked the white center next to the binding so it was not so bright white.

On the opposite page I made a faux mini signature using the half pages.

 I love these, the "stitching" on it looks so realistic.  The butterfly flap lifts up to reveal...

...a fun interior, add embellishments from the kit as you like or leave it blank for journaling.

I used the stamp shaped punches to add some more whimsy! The stamp shapes are not included in the digital kit.
