Hello! Welcome back to the BPM blog. I am back after a blog break. Breaks are nice. It helps you replenish some energy and creativity. Regardless of what you do, don't forget to give yourself that well deserved break.
I used a stamp from the Blank Page Muse Beyond the Border Mixed Media Set 1 clear stamps on my card. I stamped the second from the right border stamp on light pink, light blue and light gray cardstocks.
I attached the stamp to my stamping tool. A stamping tool allowed me to restamp the image on the same spot especially since my first stamping attempt did not produce a crisp image.
I pressed the inked stamp to the cardstock. I used a stamp tool to add pressure to the stamp to help transfer the ink to the cardstock.
I poured embossing powder to the sticky ink. I used a pearl white embossing powder.
I heat set the powder starting on the back of the cardstock. This prevented blowing off the powder from the sticky ink.
I moved the heat gun to the front of the cardstock to continue melting the powder.
Once the powder has melted and has cooled down, I fussy cut the embossed borders.
I cut 1/4" strips of white scrap cardstock. You can use any colored carstock if you prefer.
Instead of using foam tape for dimension, I stacked three of the cardstock strips.
I adhered the stacked cardstock strips to the back of the fussy cut border.
Once I am done adhering the stacked strips to the back of the fussy cut border, I laid the strips to a 4" x 5 1/4" white cardstock panel.
I started adhering the strips to the cardstock panel starting with the center border strip.
I trimmed off the excess. I made a boo-boo on my first attempt of adhering the borders. I had to peel it off from the panel. Nothing wasted since I was able to use the back side of the cardstock panel.
I adhered the panel to a top folding white A2 note card.
For the sentiment, I used the Blank Page Muse Happy Birthday Phrase rubber stamp. My rubber stamp came unmounted. I applied washable glue to the back of the rubber stamp to attach it to an acrylic block.
I stamped on vellum so it is very important to treat the vellum with anti-static powder tool before stamping the sentiment with a clear embossing ink.
I stamped the sentiment on the vellum making sure that my hand won't shift since the vellum is slick.
I poured gold embossing powder to the sticky ink.
I heat embossed the powder until it has melted.
I wanted to double up on the vellum to make it more opaque. I used a sticker maker to apply adhesive to the back of the vellum. You can use a double stick tape also.
I preferred using a sticker maker because it does not create bubbles like a liquid glue when the glue dries. I burnished the vellum to the release paper using a bone folder to make sure that I get the adhesive transferred to the back of the vellum.
I peeled off the vellum sentiment from the release paper.
I adhered this onto another vellum.
I fussy cut the sentiment leaving a small border around it.
I added a rolled up gold embroidery twine to the panel and adhered the fussy cut vellum sentiment on top of it. I used Ranger Glossy Accents here since it dries clear and provides a good cling.
