Alice in Wonderland Scarf

I made a scarf that can also be worn on the Mad Hatter’s Hat!

Mad Hatter's Hat by Karen Lackey (3)
I used Alice Art Rubber Stamps and Alice 2 Art Rubber Stamps  from Sin City Stamps for the embellishments.   If you are an Alice in Wonderland fan, you will love these new stamps!

Here’s how I made the scarf.

Supplies:
Ink (I used ColorBox Chalk Ink in dark brown.)
Muslin (Mine was prewashed and tea dyed.)
Lace
Trims
Thread

I started by choosing some pretty blue lace wide enough for a scarf and cutting a length that would yield 64” after hemming.  I hemmed the ends.

Lace for scarf (2)
I stamped the images onto the muslin with the Chalk Ink.  When it dried, I heat set the ink with my iron.  For more information about stamping on fabric, read this post.

Stamping the images (2)
I used a rotary cutter to trim around the images.

Trimming the images
I chose some trims.  I didn't end up using everything in the picture.

Choosing the trims
Then I pinned the trim and the image to the scarf, stitched them in place, and trimmed them.

You can wear it as a scarf.  Here it is on a dressform.

Or you can wrap the scarf around your Mad Hatter’s Hat.

I really like it on my Mad Hatter Hat!

Steampunk Style Masculine Card With A Spark

Happy Independence Day!  I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful holiday with family and friends.     I am so excited to get to play with my new Sin City Stamps collections.  I love making cards, and my father's birthday is coming up.  I thought the Classic Spark stamp plate images would work beautifully for a masculine card, as well as my "go to" Art Journaling with Terri Sproul stamp sets.

Supplies used:

Sin City Stamps:  Classic Spark; Art Journaling with Terri Sproul

Ink Pads:  VersaFine Smokey Grey; StazOn Black; VersaMark; Salty Ocean, Brushed Corduroy Distress

Silver embossing powder

Pan Pastels:  Red Iron Oxide, Bronze

Soft palette brush tips

Dylusions Spray Inks:  Squeezed Orange, Calypso Teal, White Linen

Tim Holtz Courtyard die

Tim Holtz mirror sheet

Sakura 3-D Crystal Lacquer

Charcoal Pencil & Blending Stump

Directions:

Cut newsprint card stock to 6-1/2" x 9", fold in half to make 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" card.

Stamp harlequin background with Slate Grey over pre-printed invoice paper.

Use a Softt sponge to add Pan Pastels to entire stamped sheet.  Interesting how the stamped harlequins picked up the color  of the Pan Pastels to become  a new color.
Heavily distress edges and ink with Brushed Corduroy ink.
Adhere this to center of card front.
Stamp screw along pre-printed tape measure paper with grey ink, heat emboss with silver embossing powder.
Adhere stamped tape measure strip along bottom edge.
Die cut a piece of chipboard with Courtyard die.

Stamp random images from the Art Journaling with Terri Sproul stamp set with black StazOn ink.  Looks like a bit of a mess, but wait.
Add colors to the chipboard using Dylusions Squeezed Orange and Calypso Teal spray inks.  Spray lightly with White Linen, and again with the orange and teal.
Remove die cut from chipboard piece and adhere to card front.  I later added some of the center pieces back into the die cut, as well as some of the center pieces I cut from another piece of the mirror card.
Stamp "A Real Classic" onto a Tim Holtz ticket stub, ink edges with Brushed Corduroy, adhere to card front at an angle.
Stamp winged spark plug onto a piece of cork paper.  Stamp just the spark plug a second time.
Color image with Squeezed Orange on a sponge.  Then apply Salty Ocean around the edges of the wings.  Fussy cut around the image and adhere to card front.

Cut out only the spark plug, adhere with pop dots.

Stamp light bulb onto scrap of print paper, cut out and adhere to card front beneath spark plug.  Add glossy dimension with 3D Crystal Lacquer.

Use charcoal pencil and blending stump to give a shadow effect to all of the elements.  See finished card photo above.

I hope you enjoyed my masculine card project today, and will try making one of your own with these techniques.  Oh,  by the way, have you seen all the new stamps and chipboard available at Sin City Stamps. They are awesome.  I even have a new Gothic Shrine chipboard piece that will be super fun to alter and decorate.  Stay tuned for more on that, because I am going to have a giveaway for one.

As always, thanks for stopping by, and be sure to check out the rest of the team's projects this month.

Have a happy and safe holiday.

Getting A Head Start on Stamping for the Holidays

Hi everyone! Peg here today as a guest designer for Sin City Stamps.  Are you like me and seem to be so busy at the holidays that you often don't get all of your holiday cards done?  I've decided to start Christmas in July and get a start on them now and I hope you will join me.   For this project, I stamped the candle holder in a circle to add a little more interest and design to the piece that is first noticed and I would like to challenge you to have some fun and try it, too!

You will need the following items:  Peg Rounds Christmas Stamps, Ink for stamping images and sentiment, Markers to color in images, a piece of ribbon, card stock to stamp on and for card base, patterned paper, stamping block, circle die (or object to use as guide), circle cutter or bowl to draw outside circle, scissors to cut circle (optional)

Begin by stamping 4 images in black ink around the guide that you have chosen.  Stamp them at 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock.  Then, stamp the image in between those points to create a complete circle.
Use the larger guide you have chosen to create the outer circle and cut it out.
Color the images and stamp the sentiment in the center using a matching ink.  Use the ribbon to create a bow and glue it onto the bottom.  You can see here where I didn't have the last stamp completely centered and ended up with a small gap.  The bow helps to cover this up.  An easy fix.

Cut the card base and attach the patterned paper and then the circle and you have a fabulous card ready to be shared this Christmas!  One down and many more to go, but at least you'll be ready for the holiday season if you start now!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to have inspired you to start your cards early this year.  At least you'll have one thing you can cross off your "to do " list early.  Be sure to head over to the Sin City Stamps website and get the products you will need to start now.

Have a great day!

Inspirational Mixed Media Plaque

Dream Big - Believe in yourself!

Hello, Peggy here to show you how I put together a deco plaque for my wall.
Todays supplies
  • Sin City Stamps
  • Ephemera background stamp
  • World Clock baloon stamp
  • Butterfly stamp
  • Dressform stamp
  • Believe sentiment stamp
  • Journal texture stamp
  • clay
  • Distres paint
  • Black/White  and plum crylic paint
  • Black stazon ink
  • gold embossing powder/heat tool
  • wooden plaque
  • Paper ephemera
I prepared my wooden plaque by painting it black. Then I spread shiny plum acrylic paint in the middle of my plaque and pressed my ephemera background stamp into the paint. I lifted my stamp to reveal my impressed image. I put this aside to dry. I pressed some premo clay into several stamps. I used the world clock, butterfly and dressform stamps pressing firmly for a good impression.

While my clay was baking, I was trying to decide weather to crackle or whiten the edges with a wash.
I decided on the later. After white washing my plaque I spayed water where my central background image was and wiped it clean. Now my clay is dry and ready to paint.
