Thankful Art Journal Page~Friendship-Kindness-Gratitude

Hello! Welcome back to the BPM Blog. The theme for this month is Friendship-Kindess-Gratitude. After all, this is the month of Thanksgiving.

For my art journal page, I used the following BPM products:

I used a Stamp-a-majig tool to repeatedly stamp the petal/leaf to create a full bloom flower image. To use this tool, I attached the rubber stamp to a rectangular acrylic block. A square one will work as well. My rubber stamp is mounted on foam with a backing that temporarily sticks to a stamping block. There is an option to purchase the stamps mounted. You just pay extra for it.

Back to the Stamp-a-majig, I butted the clear film to the corner of the T on the Stamp-a-majig. The clear film that I used came with the tool upon purchase. After I inked the stamp, I butted the corner of the acrylic block to the T corner and stamped the image on the clear film. This will be the stamp placement guide.

I stamped the circular image on the journal page. Drying the ink with a heat gun in between stamping might be necessary. Luckily, the dye ink I used dried quick that I did not need to do this. The paper absorbed the ink quickly so I did not have any smearing.

I positioned the clear film over the page. Once I like the placement, I butted the Stamp-a-majig to the top corner of the clear film.

After inking the stamp, I removed the clear film then butted the acrylic block to the corner of the Stamp-a-majig. I pressed the inked stamp to the page.

I lift the acrylic block and now I have a perfectly placed petal.

I repeated this procedure until there are enough petals surrounding the circle.

I colored the image with Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. I colored directly to the paper with this medium. I was suprised to see no harsh lines which I usually get when I do direct to paper coloring with these crayons. The smooth paper must be the secret to it.

I colored each petal with three different yellow colors of crayons. One of the crayons has a shimmer. I blended the colors using a water brush. I was very careful in adding water since I am not sure how much water the planner paper can tolerate. I briefly zapped the image with a heat gun to dry the ink.

I applied the stencil over the page. Initially, I was just holding the stencil while blending the ink. The stencil's criss cross design was moving while I was blending the ink. To keep it from moving, I sprayed the back of the stencil with Pixie Spray to apply a light tacky adhesive to control the movement of the stencil.

I blended two different green inks on the page, rotating the stencil for a different look on some parts of the page. I did not mask the flower. Using blending brushes gave me some control over what area to apply the ink to, thus, avoing the flower.

For the sentiment, I used another BPM stencil and a tag print-out from the digital download. I printed these tags a long time ago for a project. It just shows how versatile the digital downloads are. It may have a shape of a tag but you can also cut it to create something new from it.

I traced the letters on the tag print-out using an 05 white gel pen.

I fussy cut the letters, cutting it on the traced lines.

I adhered the letters to the journal page.

I wrote a quotation on the page. I added some lines and dots on the letters for accent.

I hope you like today's project.

Dream BIG Art Journal Page

Hi everyone! It's me, Tonya and I am here to share my art journal page I created using the Clara and Dream Big StampsHeart Stencil and the feather stamp from the Flower and Bird Sketches Stamp Set.

I started by watering down blue ink, adding a wash of color to the page and letting dry.  I placed the Heart Stencil on top of the page and taped it down with washi tape to hold it in place. Next I inked up several Art Daubers in different shades of blue and inking over the stencil.

I placed the Clara stamp onto the MISTI Stamping Tool, inked and stamped onto a Watercolor Paper Rectangle Diecut.

I used an assortment of inks that I watered down to watercolor the stamped image and once dry I went back over it with Colored Pencils.

I stamped two feathers from the Flower and Bird Sketches Stamp Set, watercolored and once dry fussy cut both out. I cut a slit on both sides of the image, added a little adhesive and placed the stamped feathers into the slits.

I adhered the Clara image to the journal page and I placed the "dream BIG" stamp onto the MISTI Stamping Tool and stamped onto the upper journal of the page.

I finished off the page by adding washi tape under the sentiment and on the Clara diecut. Be sure to stop by Balnk Page Muse to pick up these stamps and stencils which can be found HERE. As always if you have questions about this project please let me know.
