Be your own light! Watercolor hearts art journal layout for Galentine's Day!

 Hi

It's Kim today and I have a colorful hearty self love art journal layout page featuring stamps designed by Carmen Medlin. The Spark set which includes flamey Spark, candle and the lovely words Be your own light! To me, today anyways, this seems well matched for Galentine's Day, celebrate you or anyone that needs a positive affirmation.

I am having fun playing in my tiny 4x4 inch sketchbook. That size let's me feel like I can finish something and not just start a million things and never quite get there haha.

I started the double page layout with some watercolor hearts. They have some nice shimmer!

I stamped the words and Spark using Stazon in black. I cut them down simply after coloring and dotting.

I used some acrylic dot markers for the dotted trails and a white Signo gel pen for the inside borders on the hearts.

I hope you have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by our little spot on the Internet.

My Manifesto

Heeey, it's Robin Redd (a.k.a. RockinReddRobin!)

This week, I did another art journal page.
This lesson was taken from Effy Wild's Book of Days class.

The top and bottom border is made with strips of masking tape.
The masking tape lays underneath a selfie that is printed on simple copy paper.

I used Punchinella to stencil on the sides of my photo,
then turned the Punchinella over and stamped with it around my art journal page.

I doodled, with a gold metallic pen, little squares to frame the entire layout.
I stamped the swirl from the Art Journaling with Terri Sproul 2 stamp set, and the Believe in Yourself from the Fairies & Blossoms stamp set.

And I just love the pointing finger from the Classic Spark stamp set.
I hope I've inspired you to create something today.
Until next time...

Free

Hey!  It's Robin Redd (a.k.a. RockinReddRobin!)

Today, I worked on an art journal page based on week 4 of The Documented Life Project.  If you don't know about The Documented Life Project, click the link, here, for more details.

Personally, I don't keep the weekly journal as they do.  I just use the art journal prompts when I can get to them.  Like I said, this is the art journal prompt for week 4 and they are on week 26!

Week 4's journal prompt was to "Write a secret message and then paint over all but one key word."
I had written a letter, a while back, on watercolor paper for this use.  I didn't know of this prompt, specifically, but it's kind of cool how it worked out.

I used the background stamp and the wings stamps from the Classic Spark collection.  I LOVE these wings and that background stamp will get used over and over, for sure!

 I LOVE these wings.

And, that background stamp will get used over and over, for sure!

I hope I have inspired you to create something today.

Until next time...
