The Clock Struck 12 with Tamiko!

Happy Friday folks, it's Tamiko here!  So many have done fairy related pieces and to tell the truth I have been a little jealous.  I have found a way to make up for it though!  Who doesn't like a good fairy tale?  I know I do to this day!  Having an almost 10 year old doesn't automatically give me the get out of fairy tale free card either, but you know what, I'm cool with that.  So today I present my take on on Cinderella.. from my journal.

I began doing a rough sketch of where I wanted everything to be in my journal which gives me plenty of room for play! I then coated both pages with clear gesso.  Liquitex is gritty, it adds a lot of tooth to the page which is a good thing when you expect it.  I also scribbled with my gelatos in various colors to create a night sky, using shades of blues and purples.  I also gave my page an inked edge look with the gelato in black.  When I apply my gelatos, I find that that the key is to dip them in water.  You can also use baby wipes to move the color, but then I always wet my fingertip... it leaves a more lineless blend.  Took some Titanium white fluid acrylic by Deco Art's Media line and used the handle of my brush to do dots which in turn look like stars. Did some loose line work around them with my white gel pen.

I did most of my drawing and added some smaller details to the floor with the Pattern 2 stencil. I only used the inner concaved diamond shape to create a patterned floor with my Pitt pen. I later painted around the shapes with a metallic gelato watercolor wash.

Then I took my stamps from the Clockworks plate and stamped them on on the page with Stazon ink.  That ink once dry doesn't smear or come off if wet again.  I stamped there to give the background some texture.  Then I took those stamps and stamped versamark ink to water color paper.  The ink from the stamps came off with the versamark, but it didn't matter, you won't see that color in a moment!  The Ranger embossing powder was sprinkled generously over the juicy stamped images of the roman numerals.  Shook off the access and hit it with the heat gun.

 

I then took the images cut away some of the excess paper and added a little color by creating a water color wash with my squished metallic gelatos that I sprayed with water, and brushed the water color paper and over the embossed image.  Added some good old Helmars Super-Tac to the backside, for a QUICK hold to my page.

 

Used some Faber Castell Glass bead glitter to the shoes and dress because don't all princesses sparkle?  Especially if it's for ONLY a few hours?  Stamped some swirly doos from a stamp from the Bingo Plate set to the dress for pattern and texture.

Save The Date.. Card wth Tamiko

Happy Friday!!  Today's post is a Save The Date- card I created for my baby brother Ian and fiance Jean, for their upcoming wedding on June 14th, 2015, hence the VI- XIV- XV.   I have the Clockworks Inspired by Terri Sproul Rubber Plate and I was convinced that my first post using this stamp set WOULD NOT be a CLOCK as it is perfectly geared for.

Below is a picture of the supplies used to create the card front.

• Liquitex Matte Medium
• Deco Art- Media Line Titanium White Fluid Acrylic and White Gesso
• Deco Art- Americana Multi-Surface Satin- Canary, Flamingo, Iris, Deep Turquoise
• Strathsmore 400 Series Mixed Media Paper (not seen)
• Stazon Ink Pad-  Gothic Purple
• Beacon 3 in  1 Adhesive
• Stabilo ALL pencil in black
• Misc. - brayer, paint brush, baby wipes and Tim Holtz Tissue paper (from stash not seen)

I started out with a piece of mixed media paper and some small pieces of Tim Holtz's  tissue paper.  I planned to put that on the page with the matte medium.

I then wrote some things I wished for my brother and his wife to be.  I picked this up from a great artist name Amanda Trought of Reality Arts.  To me it's almost like praying or wishing positive thoughts into the piece.. or in this case.. this milestone event.  I wish them love, patience, honesty and understanding.  I wish them so much more, but at the time, these things came to mind first.  I chose the stabilo all pencil because it is water soluble. so this will smear and fade and no longer be visible as my layers build. (smile)  But you and I know it's there.. :)  Next to it is how the page looks once I apply a little watered down gesso.  See message is gone.. but NOT forgotten.. :)

 

Then I began to brayer small amounts of acrylics in layers, first the canary and deep turquoise.  I dried it and added a bit of gesso because of what I wanted to be able to do with my next layer of acrylics.. this flamingo and iris that I brayered on.  Not a cute stage.. but it looks like I want it to!!

After that layers was down.. I took my Pattern 2 Stencil by Terri Sproul and a baby wipe and  rubbed  some of my layered paint off. (smiles)  A while ago I would have thought I was wasting paint, but when I think about how much I actually used, to achieve the yumminess I am about to disclose...  It's SOOO WORTH IT!!  (smile)

Then I took my Purple Gothic Stazon ink pad and inked my stamp from the Clockworks Inspired by Terri Sproul Rubber Plate .  I gently placed even pressure on the acrylic block after deciding placement of the images.  

After my images were all placed and the card and my edges were all lightly inked.  I decided to use that Beacon 3 in 1 Adhesive and check it out!  Thanks again BEACON!!

The last thing I did after mounting the card front to the card base was a few quick splatters with my small round paint brush, a drop of fluid acrylic and a drop of water.  That ties in my base card with my front image.

SIN CITY STAMPS "CLOCKWORKS: ORNAMENT

Today I am sharing an ornament I made using the Clockworks Inspired By Terri Sproul plate from SinCity Stamps.

Isn't this so cute!!  Super easy to make too!

Gather your supplies:

• Sin City Stamp Plate (link above)
• Stewart Superior India Ink Black
• Text Paper
• String of Pearls
• Glue dot runner
• Hot Glue Gun
• Prima Flowers
• Mis. Ribbon

Cut out circles, about 5" in diameter.  My circles were made using my Cricut and the free 3D Ornaments cartridge.  You can use a punch or a stencil to make yours.  Then, fold them in half, down the middle.

Use your Clockworks set of  Stamps and stamp random numbers on the right and left of the middle crease on each circle.

Fold your circle with the white side showing.  Using your glue dot runner, apply adhesive to it. Stick the next circle to this one and apply glue to it, just like you did before.  Do this to all the circles except the last one.

Before you add the final circle, put a bead of hot glue down the center of he ornament.  Lay your string of pearls in it, leaving a few inches coming out of the bottom and make a loop for the top, so you can hang it on the tree!

Here is a picture showing the ornament from the top.

This is the finished ornament!  See the pearl loop on top?  and the leaves and flowers at the bottom, glued to the pearls?  AWESOME!

Here is another view.  This ornament should have 7 half circles.  I love the vintage feel you get with the numerals!  And a Victorian feel with the pearls and flowers.  These look so pretty on the tree!
