Cozy Kitten

I adore cats.  And this cat stamp is sooooo sweet!  When I was looking at it, I thought how cozy the kitten looks, and then I decided that the blanket needed to look cozy too.  So I employed one of my favorite techniques, paper piecing!

I had just the right patterned paper that I had hoarded kept for just the right project. 

I first stamped the cat on white cardstock and colored with Tom-bow markers.  This made it easy to do the tabby shading as I could just go over those a second time with my brown marker to make it just the right amount darker.  (Typically I don’t color a lot with water based markers but in this instance, it works very well.)

Then I layered over the cozy blanket and added my sentiment.  A very easy card!

The cat is available in a set called MS110 Full Plate and also as a single stamp, if you prefer.

The sentiment is part of this set called Baubles, Doily and Words.

Owl Friends - Get Well Card Tutorial

Hello Friends,

This charming pair of innocent owls seemed the perfect choice for a get well card.  So I painted them with unexpected cheerful and bright colors.  Their cute little faces got even cuter when colored lilac and teal and definitely will be a pick-me-up for the recipient.  Let's get going and I'll lead you through the simple process for this quick card. 

(TIP: When planning a card, select the pattern paper first and then color your image to match it. It is always more difficult to color an image and then search your stash to find something that coordinates.)

Directions:
1.  Stamp the pair of owls onto white card stock with black permanent ink.
2.  Use watercolor paints to fill in the owls. After thoroughly dry, use a black colored pencil to add shading to the claws & branches.

3.  Use a black marker to color the owls' pupils.  Then apply Glossy Accents clear varnish to the owls' eyes and set aside to dry.

 

 

4.  Cut a piece of patterned paper 1/4" smaller than the card base and attach it leaving a narrow border.

5. Matte the owl pair with teal card stock and attach to the upper portion of the card using dimensional foam tape.

6. Add a sentiment to a strip of teal card stock, cut the end flag style, and adhere to the lower right edge of the card.

Get Well card

Hello, Monique here with a Get well card to make to feel great!

Supplies used:

Sin city stamps :

•  Sending Smiles, 
• . Laughter Medicine Dropper 
• Small cogs and Gears,
•  Get Well sentiment 
• White cardstock
• Purple cardstock
• Black stamp ink
• Adhesive
• Colored pencils

Step 1: Stamp the big address stamp on white cardstock. - *Wipe off the ink on the word "to" before you stamp.

Step2: Stamp using the medicine dropper, cogs, and the " get well "sentiment

Step 3 : Use a mask to add some more cogs and gears in the corner where the word "to" was  to cover the empty spot.

Step 4: Stamp the mouse from the Sending Smiles sheet above and the "Get well" sentiment.
In a way it looks like it's walking on top of the sentiment.
(Make some guidelines on the acrylic block to see where the mouse's legs are to align with the top of the get well)

Step 5: Color in  the image

Step 6: Trim the white edges of the card and ink them

Step 7: Make a border using the cogs and gears stamp on the purple cardstock

Step 8: Adhere the colored image to the card and ink the edges of the card.
