Hello from sunny South Carolina! This is Lori from Coast 2 Coast Cards. I've been seeing so many butterflies lately, so I decided to create a paper one on this bright and cheerful mixed-media card. This card is full of depth and texture with minimal products used.
I began by making my own texture paste colors. I took a matte white texture paste from my stash and added blue and green reinker drops to it. I mixed thoroughly.
I masked off the unwanted portions of the Butterfly Collage Stencil, then used the colored paste around the ring. I alternated the colors as well as slightly mixing them, too.
Results after stencil is lifted. Look at that dimension! It took about an hour to dry completely. I love the cool color combo.
Once the paste was dry, I reapplied the stencil in the same orientation on the paper, so I could ink the butterfly.
Inked butterfly. I used detail brushes from my stash with black and purple inks.
I added turquoise clouds that matched the paste by using the cloud stamp from the You Make Me Happy Hummingbird Stamp Set. The small clouds make the butterfly appear closer to you.
On the bottom of the panel, I added a strip of paper from the Cyan Consortium 6x6 Paper Pad. The paper has the blues, greens, and purples, found on the rest of the card.
Another side shot showing dimension and mixing of paste colors.
