Happiness Comes in Waves

 Happiness Comes in Waves

Good day, fellow crafters. It's Tamara once again, with a new post where I will be showcasing my latest card created using I Brake for Stamps and Blank Page Muse products!

Happiness comes in waves, like the gentle ripples on a serene pond. Just as goldfish glide effortlessly through the water, moments of joy appear, drift, and return when least expected. Life's ups and downs flow naturally, but beauty can be found in the shimmer of simple things even in the quiet times. May your heart always find peace in knowing that happiness will swim back to you, just as surely as the fish return to the surface with each passing wave.

To create this project, you will need the following:

  • Heat Tool

  • Watercolor paper - smooth side

  • Paper Trimmer

  • Large Crystal Sea Salt

  • Scissors

  • 8.5” x 11” White Cardstock

  • Misting bottle with clean water

  • A2 card base – white (4.25” x 5.5”)

  • Waterbrush markers - shades of blue

  • Liquid Glue

  • Clear liquid resin

  • Alcohol Markers

  • Black alcohol marker-safe ink

  • Stamp Positioner

  • Waterproof work surface

Focal Image

    • Place the white cardstock into the stamp positioner and secure it in place.

    • Place and adhere the Koi Fish stamp into place

    • Ink the stamp with Black alcohol marker-safe ink

    • Stamp the image, repeating if required.

    • Use alcohol markers to color the focal image to the desired hues.

    • Use scissors to fussy cut the image, remove the barbels if a goldfish is the desired outcome, and set aside.

Background Panel

  • Apply a coating of water to the watercolor paper to moisten it.

  • Using the blue water brush markers, apply a generous amount to the surface of the moistened watercolor paper

  • Use the misting bottle to mist the watercolor paper which will allow the colors to blend

  • Shake a generous amount of Sea Salt across the entire surface of the background panel and then allow it to sit undisturbed until dry.  A heat tool can be used to expedite the process if desired.

  • Once dry, brush off all of the salt from the background panel, it will have adsorbed watercolor pigment and should be disposed of properly, DO NOT  use it for cooking

  • Using the paper trimmer, cut the background panel to 4.5” x 5.5”

Assembly

  • Using liquid glue adhere the background panel onto the White A2 card base.

  • Position the focal image(s) on the background panel to find the desired final appearance.

  • Adhere the focal images with liquid glue.

  • If focal images overlap the edge, as in the example, use scissors to trim them to size.

  • Optional: Use clear liquid resin over the eyes of the Koi for a more life-like appearance and added interest and dimension

Sentiment - Optional

  • Using a sentiment and method of choice, add the sentiment to the background panel.  The example card used a watermark ink and a white embossing powder to achieve its appearance.

String Art With a Stencil

Hello! I created another project using the Blank Page Muse Pumpkin Trio Stencil.
The first card (see here)
involved using a stylus and fussy cutting.

Today's project involves using a paper piercer and stitching. I hope you like it.

I positioned the stencil on a kraft cardstock. I used the largest pumpkin for my project. I created a landscaped card so the pumpkin is on the top two thirds of the panel. Using the stencil as a guide, I poked holes on the kraft cardstock using a paper piercer.

I made sure that I poke holes on the corners of the open area of the stencil. I avoided poking holes too close to each other to avoid ripping the paper during stitching.

I used the stencil to guide me in stitching.

I used a DMC Variegated Floss to add interest to the stitched image.

I colored the stitch pumpkin with mica paint.

To add a fabric feel on the stitched panel, I ran this through my die cutting machine using a texture plate.

The sentiment was also poked using an alphabet stencil. I blended ink around the pumpkin to mute down the bright kraft cardstock. I added a strip of cardstock to the right of the panel.

What a great way to stretch this stencil! I always like it when I can create several things using a product.

Give Thanks

Hi, friends! It's design team member Walter on the blog today with a beautiful card celebrating Thanksgiving.  The Harvest Moon stamp from I Brake for Stamps creates such a beautiful scene.  I used lots of earth tones set against the night sky and a golden full moon in my design.  I can smell the fall leaves and feel the cool, crisp air when I look at this image!

Here's what I used to create it:

  • Harvest Moon Red Rubber Stamp
  • A2 Kraft card base
  • Vintage Newspaper Clipping Paper
  • 4"x5.25" piece of Cream cardstock
  • Embossing ink
  • Gold embossing powder
  • Colored pencils
  • Tim Holtz Distress Inks: Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Scorched Timber
  • Piece of twine
  • Two mini clothes pins
  • Label Maker

Here's how I made it:

  • Added grunge to Kraft card use using Scorched Timber ink and ran the ink pad around the card edges.

  • Tied piece of twine around the top inside of the card base; used a blending brush to add some grunge with Scorched Timber ink.

  • Placed mini clothes pins onto twine.
  • Adhered Vintage Newspaper Clipping paper to the card base.
  • Stamped image onto Cream card panel with embossing ink, dusted with gold embossing powder, and heat set it.
  • Colored the image with colored pencils.

  • Used a blending brush to add grunge to the card panel with Tea Dye ink.

  • Added grunge to the sides of the card panel with Vintage Photo ink.
  • Adhered card panel to base with double sided foam tape, ensuring the top of the panel is inserted into mouths of clothes pins.
  • Created sentiment with label maker and adhered it to the card.

I love the rustic and vintage look & feel of this card.  It makes me want to put a turkey into the oven to roast right now!

Thanks for spending some time reminiscing with me today!  See you again soon.
