Lightbulbs

Hello, hello! Samantha here with an "enlightening" card to share with you today. I must preface this tutorial with the warning that this card is a snarky one and there will be a very mild swear word involved. If that is something you are uncomfortable with please go no further.

Be sure to use code BPMDtSamantha2019 to save 15% off of your next order!

Let's get started! For this card you will need the following supplies:
  • The Incandescent Light Bulb Art Rubber Stamp
  • Inks in a multitude of colors
  • A label maker
  • A black A2 sized card base
  • White cardstock cut to 4" x 5.5"
  • Clear embossing powder
  • Sticky embossing ink pad
  • Dimensional foam adhesive

Begin by stamping the light bulb all over your white cardstock panel in many different colors of ink.

Stamp the light bulb onto a scrap piece of white cardstock. Cover it in sticky embossing ink on only the glass part of the image. Heat set with clear embossing powder. Do this over and over again until you get your desired thickness. I believe I did this about twenty times in all. This gives the light bulb a super cool dimensional appearance.

Carefully cut the light bulb out. Here is a closeup and I want you to look carefully at the following image because I want to show you something.

Do you see the difference between this image and the first? In the above image I went around the edges with a black marker. This is something I do to all the images I fussy cut because it gives them a more finished appearance.

Mount your card panel to your cardbase. I like how trimming the panel to 4" x 5.5" gives us a border on just the sides. Add your fussy cut light bulb to the card panel with dimensional foam adhesive.

Use your label maker to spell out the phrase "Some people are like light bulbs". Layer onto scrap cardstock in the color of your choice, trim and adhere to the card front. I'll let you see for yourself what the inside, snarky sentiment will say. Once more, please do not look if mild swearing bothers you.

So, what do you think? Be sure to head on over to the BPM Facebook Fan group and tell us what your thoughts on snarky cards like this are. Do you like them? Are there any snarky sentiments you would like to see paired with a BPM stamp and made into a card?

Until next time,
Samantha
