Heart Shaker Card & Stencil Pack Giveaway Winner

Hello! Welcome back to the BPM blog. I am glad you are here. It is the month of hearts. I thought of creating a card with a heart on it. I also made it into a shaker card since it has been a while since I have made one. I hope you like it.

I traced two sized hearts on scrap paper using a nesting hearts die. I practiced the stamping on scrap paper first so I would have an idea of how the design will look like. I went for the smaller heart since it fits an A2 card.

I used 3 colors of dye inks for the card, a red, an orange and a pink. I lightly traced the heart on a white cardstock panel cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Using the guide, I stamped the image making sure that the colors are alternating on one side of the heart.

This is how the framed heart looks after the stamping.

I erased the pencil lines. I die cut a heart using the heart die I used to trace the heart on the panel. This created a window for the shaker.

On a white watercolor paper panel that is slightly larger than the heart window, I created a watercolored panel for the background of the shaker portion of the card. I treated this panel first with an anti-static powder tool since I am going to emboss on this panel. I stamped the image using an embossing ink. I poured clear embossing powder to the sticky ink.

I repeatedly stamped the circle floral stamp on the panel. I melted the embossing powder using a heat tool. I heated the back first to prevent the powder from being blown away by the heat tool.

After which, I moved the heat tool to the front so the heat is directed toward the images. I usually move the heat tool around to prevent flattening the embossing which can be a result of overheating.

This is how the embossed panel looks like.

I applied watercolor paint over the panel. The great thing about this technique is that the embossed image resisted the pigment of the watercolor.

This is how the panel looks after watercoloring it. I used the same colors I used on the heart frame.

It is time to build the well for the shaker elements. Using the heart negative cut from the window panel, I adhered a skinny foam strip around it on the watercolored panel. To make the foam panel more flexible, I removed both release paper of the double sided foam adhesive.

After I have created the tunnel, I removed the negative heart die cut. I brushed the inner side of the foam well with an anti-static powder tool. This prevents the shaker elements from clinging to the foam.

I poured different sequins and beads to the center of the well. I cut an acetate large enough to cover the heart. I wiped the acetate with a Swiffer sheet to remove any dust clinging to it. I should have wiped it with a dryer sheet too to prevent the shaker elements clinging to it. The seed beads seemed to be attracted to the static. I applied liquid glue to the foam strips to add more stick to the exposed sticky part of the foam adhesive. I laid the acetate to the heart. I placed something heavy over it while I allow the glue to dry.

I trimmed a fourth of an inch off the window panel so I can add a matte around it. A trick that I am doing lately is instead of using a full paper panel for matte, I use left over paper and cut this into 1/2" strips. I adhered the strips to the back of the window panel. I used the grids on the glass surface to help me with the alignment.

I did not apply adhesive to the corners so I can snip off the corners diagonally. Since the total size of this panel with the faux matte is now at 4 1/2" x 5 3/4", I die cut this panel using an A2 sized rectangle die.

For the sentiment, I used the BPM I Was Thinking Of You Today Sentiment Words Rubber Stamp. I adhered this to the stamping tool using a washable glue stick.

I prepped the paper with an anti-static powder tool before stamping the sentiment since I plan to emboss the sentiment.

I stamped the sentiment first using a gray dye ink.

I wiped off the dye ink from the rubber stamp then inked this with an embossing ink. If you are using a pigment ink, this step is not necessary. The dye ink dries faster than a pigment ink that's why I have to stamp it again with a sticky ink.

I poured clear embossing powder to the sticky ink.

I heat set this until the powder has melted. I started heating from the back then moving to the front.

I wanted to create this sentiment into a banner. I have a die that cut banners. To assure of proper placement, I created a template on a scrap paper.

I placed the paper template on top of the stamped sentiment aligning the opening to the sentiment. I secured the paper template with tape then positioned the die over the template. The die should snap into place. I temporarily taped the die so it would not shift when I run this through the die cutting machine.

To adhere the window panel to the shaker, I applied liquid glue to the shaker.

I aligned the heart window to the heart shaker and set this aside to dry.

I adhered the sentiment banner using a T-square ruler to help me make sure the sentiment banner is straight.

I adhered color coordinating gems to the stamped frame around the heart.

Snow Globe Joy ~ Shaker Ornament

Hello! Christmas is almost here! With the hustle and bustle of the season, thank you for taking time to visit the blog.

Today's 3D project used a stamp from the Blank Page Muse Country Vintage Christmas Rubber Art Stamps Sheet. Just to warn you, today's post is photo-filled to show the steps in creating this ornament. So as early as now, I would like to thank you for your time.

The stamp set comes as a sheet of several rubber stamp images.

I cut off the snow globe stamp image that I used for this card.

I used a glue stick to temporarily adhere the rubber stamp to my stamping tool.

I stamped the snow globe on a scrap piece of paper to create a template. A template guides me when I use different elements on my project. It also helps me with placement when it is time to put the elements of the project together.

The template was very useful in the sizing and placement of the gold cardstock. All I need to do is position the gold cardstock over the base of the snow globe, selectively ink the rubber stamp, then stamp the base on the gold cardstock. I used Versamark ink in stamping.

I heat set the embossing powder until it is melted.

I fussy cut the snow globe base after the embossing.

I stamped the snowman using a light dye ink since I will be doing a no line coloring.

I colored the snow man with alcohol markers.

I added details to the coloring with color pencils. I die cut the snowman using a circle die.

I added black enamel accents to the eyes and the buttons.

I ink blended a light blue ink on the background.

Using a glue pen, I added glue to the snow on the backdrop of the snow man. I poured puffy embossing powder to the glue, then heat set it.

For the shaker portion of the snow globe, I die cut a circle frame on light blue cardstock. I used the same circle die I used to cut the snowman and the next size down circle die. I adhered an acetate to the back of this frame.

I used the template as a guide to put the snow globe together adhering the acetate frame to the snow globe base.

I adhered skinny strips of foam tape to the back of the snow globe. I created a well around the acetate.

I poured tiny sequins on the acetate, inside the well.

After I removed the release paper from the foam adhesive, I added liquid glue to the foam to secure the shaker.

I sealed the shaker with the colored snowman die cut.

I stamped the snowman snow globe on a piece of white cardstock. I partially die cut the circle portion of the snow globe with the same circle die I used earlier. I fussy cut the base. This will be the backing of the shaker ornament.

I die cut a tab on gold cardstock to have a place to thread a string to and make this snow globe into an ornament.

I adhered the shaker ornament to the backing. I threaded a blue string through the hole. Now, this snow globe is ready to be hang on the Christmas tree.

I hope you like today's project.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
