Hi, friends!
It's design team member Walter on the blog today. The year is now more than half-way over and Halloween will be here before you know it. A lot of people are already focusing on Christmas cards . . . but how about some spooky ones first? I wanted to make a Halloween card that was a little different and not so mainstream. Guess what? Blank Page Muse and I Brake for Stamps had me covered!
The inspiration for this card is the musical Little Shop of Horrors. It's a favorite of mine, and I thought of it as soon as I saw these Wildflower Yikes stamps. They're so much fun and can create a unique Halloween card with something other than a ghost, witch, or pumpkin. This is one hungry flower - so you better heed the caution warning!
Here's what I used to make it:
- Wildflower, Yikes! by Monique van Dijk Rubber Art Stamp Set
- BEWARE Word Art Rubber Stamp
- A2 Black Card Base
- 4"x5.25" Black Card Panel
- 3"x4.5" piece of white card stock
- Deckle Edge Circle Die
- Tim Holtz Lost Shadow Distress Oxide Ink
- Tim Holtz Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Ink
- White Pigment Ink
- Double sided foam tape strips
- Brutus Monroe Hematite Crystals
- Brutus Monroe Ice Grey Vintage Mist Spray
- Alcohol markers and glitter gel pens
- Placed the black card panel into scoring tool and scored at each 1/16th of the panel from top to bottom
- Ran the Lost Shadow Oxide ink pad up and down the scored card panel; lightly misted it with water and let it dry.
- Used the deckle edge circle die to cut a circle from the scored panel.
- Stamped the large flower with teeth and two smaller eye flowers onto the piece of white card stock.
- Colored the images with a combination of alcohol markers and glitter gels pens.
- Misted the colored image with the Brutus Monroe Ice Grey Vintage Mist Spray to add some light grunge to the image.
- Placed double sided foam tape strips onto the back of the scored black panel, adhered the white image panel so that the image is visible through the circle, and adhered the combined panel to the A2 card base.
- Cut a strip of cardboard large enough to accommodate the CAUTION stamp and used the Mustard Seed Oxide ink pad to color it yellow.
- Once dry, stamp the word CAUTION onto the cardboard strip with black ink.
- Put craft glue onto back of the cardboard strip and adhere to card.
- Use the skull stamp and white oxide ink to stamp some skulls on the card.
- Adhere hematite crystals to the eyes of the skulls.
