Mixed Media Album

Hello! Peggy here, today I would like to share with you my steampunk mini album.
Products used today are:
The first thing I did was randomly cover my journal with magenta and green Pan Pastels. I took my black Faber Castell Gelato and made marks and covered  the edges.  I then sprayed my cover with Tattered Angels Cork spray

Next I stamped with my Sin City Vintage Background Stamp in black Stazon Ink. Then I partially stamped on top of the stamp with Versa Mark Watermarking Ink and embossed with Gold and heated.

I wanted to have the cover look aged and so I added a torn corner. Glued down a piece of cardstock and used my finger nail to distress it. I also distress with Ranger Aged Mahogany Distress Ink.

I stamped my images from Sin City Stamps  before coloring with Lindys Sprays and edging with black Gelatos.
Here I mixed embossing powders Black and Brown. I used my Sin City Stamps and Versa Mark Ink and heated to emboss.  I went over my images with the magenta Pan Pastel and Black Gelato.
I decided my pages needed some pockets. I cut Acetate pockets with a Tim Holtz Die and adhered
them down with double sided tape. To fill those pockets I made matching tags.  Below I used a beautiful stamp from Sin City Stamps and embossed it with gold embossing powder.
This photo shows what to use to clean your stamps after using Stazon Permanent Ink.
If you do not clean your stamps your stamps will be stained permanently.

Below are my finished pages with pockets and tags bound with Vintage Seam Binding
stained with Magenta Pan Pastels and Black Gelatos.

My favorite page magenta and black with Sin City Stamps. My matching tag also colored
with Pan Pastels, embossed with Sin City Stamps and fussy cut wings were a perfect match!

Last page embellished with leftover tag from G45. My matching tag uses gold and clear embossing powder. The clear embossing powder acted as a resist when I colored with Distress inks.

This image shows without the tag below. Gorgeous background stamp from Sin City Stamps.

This image shows the back cover which matches the front.
Front cover with embellishments.

I hope you have enjoyed my mini album and instilled some incentive to try it out for yourself!
I had a blast making this album with my favorite genre "Steampunk".

Is it a Tag or a Card?

Hello everyone!  Barbara here with a mixed media tag-shaped card using Sin City Stamps and more of the products from our sponsor, Frog Dog Studio.  I have to tell you that I have really enjoyed playing with the products in the FDS kit and pairing them with SCS stamps.
Supplies used:

Frog Dog Studio:  Mixed Media kit containing Faber-Castell mini mixed media journal
Pan Pastels Magenta, Permanent Green, Sofft Art Sponge, Collage sheet of Valentine images, Domino love charms, Prima wood buttons, Faber-Castell Gelatos

Metallic Rub-Ons Kit #2 (Altered Pages)

Used dryer sheet

Xyron

Glimmer Mist (Caramel Apple)

Black India Ink (Stewart Superior), Silver pigment ink, Clear embossing ink

Silver, Black, Clear, Rust embossing powders

Evergreen Bough, Brown distress ink (Tim Holtz)

Sizzix and Spellbinders dies

Metal charms and clock hands

Red and green Wink of Stella pens (Altered Pages)

Directions:

I decided to make a large tag from the Prima button package that was in the FDS kit.

Run dryer sheet through Xyron.  Spritz with water, add White Gelato with a tiny amount of Black Gelato and spread over the dryer sheet with your finger.  You can use a brush if you prefer.  Use sofft sponge to flake off some of the green and pink pan pastels over the still wet sheet, and spread with your finger (or brush).

Remove dryer sheet from Xyron release paper and heat set with heat gun.  Run white cardstock through Xyron, adhere dryer sheet over top.

Next, spray dryer sheet/cardstock with Caramel Apple glimmer mist and allow to dry.
Run tag from button package through Xyron, adhere to back of dry sheet, trim off excess. Don't you just love the feathered edge on this.  I thought about keeping it, but I only had it on this one side and so I trimmed it all even.  Maybe next time I will work it into another project.

Run tag through Xyron again and adhere to back of print paper, trim off excess.

Reverse side
Next, emboss the edges of the tag with a rust embossing powder.  I love this effect.

Here is a close up of the edges.
Die cut pocket watch with circle die inserted in center.  Cut out another pocket watch from print paper. You only need enough to cover the back portion that will be exposed when attached to the tag.
Heat emboss pocket watch with silver pigment ink and silver embossing powder.  Reheat powder and sprinkle black embossing powder over all for an antique silver look.  Rub a bit of deep gold metallic cream over pocket watch.

Stamp couple on clock face with black India ink onto print paper.  Color woman's dress and handkerchief with green and red Wink of Stella pens.  Cut out, adhere to chipboard circle.

Attach print paper die cut to back of pocket watch.  You can see where some of my chipboard is not covered, but it won't show when attached to the tag.

Punch hole through center of stamped chipboard circle, attach clock hands with small brad.  Adhere to center of pocket watch.

Rub deep gold metallic cream onto the filigree charm to change the color, then highlight the design on the keyhole charm.  Attach Love domino charm to the bottom of the filigree piece.

I love shopping the hardware store, and here is one of my favorite finds, wallboard tape.  It is usually white (sometimes yellow) and has a slightly sticky back.  One technique I like is to place the tape onto a piece of or aluminum foil, ink liberally with embossing ink, and heat emboss pretty embossing powders onto it.  Here, I have used a green glittery embossing powder. Luckily, I was able to get a picture that represents some of the sparkle.  When you remove the tape from the aluminum foil, you not only have this beautiful piece, but also a beautiful embossed piece of foil. Two cool embellishments for the price of one.
Today, I am using only the embossed wallboard tape.  I thought it would make a nice addition along the edge of my tag.

Next, I added gesso to the edges with a stencil I had laying around.  Did you know that Sin City also carries stencils?  They are awesome, and most of them actually match the stamps.  So very cool!

After the gesso dries, mist with Caramel Apple glimmer mist, and add brown distress ink over that.
Next, I wanted a subtle effect so I heat embossed the large swirl with a rust embossing powder.  It is subtle but effective.

Die cut a feather from chipboard, add a thick coat of gesso with your finger to achieve some texture.

Next, add evergreen distress ink over the gesso, distressing the edges with brown.  Adhere both the watch and feather to the bottom portion of the tag.  Attach the filigree/domino charm to the bottom, and the keyhole to the center top,

Stamp steampunk gears bird onto print paper with clear ink and clear embossing powder.  Cover paper with brown distress ink. Trim bird, and crease it to give it some shape, as shown.  Attach to tag, as shown.

Stamp Happy Birthday onto scrap print paper and die cut.  Add to back of tag to turn your creation into a wonderful card for someone special.

I hope you enjoyed my mixed media project and that you will be inspired to give some of these fun techniques a try.

Did you know that Sin City Stamps has some new page layouts for all the scrapbookers out there, too?  Here is a small sample of what is coming.  These are available in the store NOW!  Aren't they gorgeous?  So hop on over and see all the new, fabulous products in store now.

Happy Valentines Day!

Hello Peggy here, I am so excited to be here today! This is my very first post for Sin City Stamps as a Brand New Design Team Member and I couldn't be happier.  Today I would like to show you  a card made from several different media.
Items I used:

The first thing I did was to fussy cut some images of ephemera from the kit and
matched up some background paper. I layered two pieces of designer background paper.
I wanted to accentuate the beautiful flowers so I decided to emboss using The Vintage Background stamp and the Romance Stamp with clear embossing powder over top of my layered background paper. Next I took my two pieces of ephemera and placed them strategically one on either side. I gave the image of a boy a pink hue/shadow, by highlighting the background behind him with Pan Pastels in Magenta.

I took the sentiment stamp from the February Frog Dog Studio Kit and
stamped with Stazon Ink Red on regular cardstock and backed it with metal tape to
reinforce it and to be able to manipulate the paper easily.  I think it gave it a nice shiny edge too.
I placed the Prima crown behind the little boy and touched it up with White Gesso.
I thought it fitting that he was backed with postal paper as way back when they used to mail children.
 (true story).
I chose some handmade vintage ribbon to run through the middle and front of the card and
finally I edged the card with a Gold Dabber
Above you can make out the beautiful rose from Sin City Stamps in the
middle of the postcard as well as the edging made with the Vintage background stamp.

I hope you have enjoyed my Valentines Card as much as I enjoyed making it!
