How to Make a Fabulous Faux Chalkboard Birthday Card

Hi Chris here and today I am excited to share this birthday card I created.  Every January our family is slammed with birthdays!  We have 4 within 8 days!!! So I am always wanting to increase my stash of Birthday cards!

For this card I was inspired by the ever popular chalkboard writing trend!
With some stamps and white embossing powder you too can easier re-create this fun technique!

Supplies needed:
  1. Sin City Stamps -Dandelion Wishes
  2.  Sin City Stamps - Art Journaling #2
  3.  Embossing Powder - White, Black
  4. Heat gun
  5.  Inks -Versamark, Black Ink
  6.  Black & White Cardstock - Smooth
  7.  Blank card and patterned paper to fit the front.
  8. Sheer ribbon, paper flower and floral sprig.
  9. Adhesive and foam tape
  10. Scissors

Step 1 - Faux Chalkboard writing - Using the Dandelion and Make a Wish greeting from the Sin City Stamps -Dandelion Wishes set, use the Versamark ink to stamp yhem onto the smooth black cardstock.
Heat Emboss with white embossing powder.

Trim 'make a wish' into a banner. Set both pieces aside.

Step 2 -  Background - The lacy background stamp from Sin City Stamps - Art Journaling #2   is not large enough to stamp the entire background so you will need to stamp it top-to-bottom to cover the cardstock. Don't worry if you don't get the stamping perfectly aligned, we will take care of that in the next step.

Step 3 - Background part 2 -Stamp the brick background twice with a juicy black ink (as shown) and cover quickly with black bossing powder. Remove excess powder and heat emboss.  Ink edges of the background card with black ink.

Step 4  - Trim your patterned paper slightly smaller than your blank card and adhere in place.
Next add your stamped background.

Step 5 - Adhere your Faux Chalkboard Dandelion piece onto the card and attach the 'Make a Wish" banner with foam tape.
Embellish the rest of your card with a sheer ribbon bow, pearl floral sprigs and the paper flower.

Hope this inspires you to start stamping!
