Hello Blank Page Muse Followers!
Jenn here to share my Fairy Flair Art Journal with you today.
The January theme at Blank Page Muse is turquoise, silver, and sparkle.
This was one of those "just sit down and do it" projects for me.
I know we all have them. I find that when I do this I am usually happy with the outcome.
For this project, I used the following Blank Page Muse stamps: (click on pictures to be taken to the online store)
Additional supplies:
- Art journal
- White gesso
- Black and white ink pad
- Clear embossing powder and heat gun
- 3D matte gel or thick drying adhesive
- Mini art stones
- Chipboard shapes
- Flowers and other embellishments
- White glue and a cup of water
- Ink sprays in teal and purple
- Iridescent spray
Now on to how it all came together!!
Start by applying heavy white gesso to the cover and allow it to dry.
Using the largest swirly circle stamp and clear embossing ink, randomly stamp. Do the same with the script stamp. Sprinkle clear embossing powder and heat set. Next, using the other swirly circles, script, and the beehive texture stamp with black archival ink, randomly stamp.
Using 3D matte gel or another adhesive adhere chipboard elements.
Add flowers and other chosen elements. Add some 3D matte gel with a palette knife here and there and then add some micro beads to those areas to add texture. Dip a soft paintbrush in a mixture of half white glue and half water and gently spread the mini art stones around the cover. Be sure to allow this to dry completely. Once dry, shake off excess stones. For a bit more white enhancements add some stenciling using a white ink pad.
Next cover all added embellishments with heavy white gesso. Spray with an iridescent spray and allow to dry or use a heat tool. This will give an added shimmer effect.
Finally, add color! For this project, I used colorations ink sprays and Minx shimmering inks by Art Anthology in two shades of teal and purple. I used a lighter teal first and let it dry, then added a darker teal around main areas and spritzed with water. Lastly, add some splatters of the teal and purple sprays. Once all of the color is dry add the flair button which was created in a previous post using Blank Page Muse Stamps HERE
Here are a couple closer views showing the texture, stamps, and splatters!
