Special Valentine Treat by Pam Bray + A Super Helpful Tip for Your Un-Mounted Rubber Stamps!

Learn, Live and Hope is such a fabulous inspirational message!!! It just inspires love and dreams! I can't help but to share the love as we go into Feb and seeing all the Valentine inspiration that is already being shared. 

 

Today I created a Valentine inspired card using the stamps from Blank Page Muse. I began my card by painting a piece of white card stock using DecoArt Media paints. 

 

Because my stamps are unmounted I thought i would run them through my Xyron 3" Disposable Sticker Maker to see if they would fit and work on a stamp block. I AM SO EXCITED TO SHARE...THEY WORK PERFECTLY!!!! Once you are done stamping, remove them from the stamp block and place back on the adhesive sheet. Place in small plastic bag or other stamp container. 

 

Place stamps on stamp block and stamp card stock with Fired Brick Distress Ink. 

 

Cut painted card stock down to fit on stamped background card stock. Stamp background image on top. 

 

Die cut Trifecta pieces from white card stock; emboss with Emerald Creek Supplies Embossing Powder. 

 

Adhere distress red card stock; stamped background pieces and embossed cut out to top of card base. 

Spatter with white and black paint. 

Stamp heart and butterflies on card stock using Archival ink. 

 

Color fussy cut images out with Distress Markers.

 

Layer butterflies together at bodies; tip wings up and add to front of card. 

 

Add stamped sentiment to front of card with pop dots. 

 

Adhere chipboard to card front. Layer hearts together and place on front of card with pop dots. Add bow. 

 

Add a second prepared butterfly to top of card.

Heart Canvas

Hi Mo here again, almost Valentines day so thought to do a heart canvas for my Sin City inspiration post.

Supplies used:
Sin City stamp set Skeletons Halloween
Sin City stamp set Wing it
Canvas 10 x 10 cm
Tissue paper
Acrylic paint in : Desert turquoise, True Red
Fluid acrylics in Cobalt Teal Hue and Primary yellow
Metallic silver paint
Triple thick gloss glaze
Decoupage glue for napkins
Waterproof stamp ink in black
Heart wings die and machine
Chipboard ( I used a box from a frozen pizza)
Craft mat
Paintbrushes
Baby wipes or wet cloth
Permanent black marker.
Adhesive

1. Paint the canvas turquoise.
2. Die cut the heart, wings and crown from your chipboard.
3. Paint the heart red and the wings and crown silver.
Set aside to dry.

4. Cut a piece of the tissue paper big enough to cover the whole canvas and use a waterproof ink to stamp the Ornate Metalwork look stamp to make the background.
5. Paint the backside of the tissue paper with the turquoise paint to get a brighter color when it is glued to the canvas.

6.Using a paint brush, spread some black paint onto your craft-mat and press the Ornate Metal work stamp into the paint then quickly stamp it onto the heart.
7. Repeat this step using the Wing it set stamps onto the silver painted wings.
8. Clean the paint off the rubber stamps quickly using a baby wipe or wet cloth.

9. Adhere the the tissue paper to the canvas with decoupage napkin glue.

10. Apply a layer of gloss glaze on the heart and let dry

11. Paint a piece of the chipboard with red paint and stamp the sentiment from the Wing it set on it.

11. Cut out the words (as shown above) and use the marker to line the edges black.

12. If you want to add more color to the canvas (as I have done), mix yellow and turquoise translucent paints to achieve a brighter color.

13. Attach all your pieces to the canvas with adhesive.

Valentine Mini Album

Hello Sin City Stampers!  My name is Robin Redd and I’m part of the new design team at Sin City Stamps!

 

This month we are collaborating with Frog Dog Studio!  This is the Frog Dog Studio kit for February which includes the beautiful Romantic Background Stamp and a saying “Love Can Hope” stamp that says, “Love can hope where reason would despair”, which is a quote from George, Lord Lyttleto.

I decided to make a minialbum of the first card my boyfriend made.  He made a lovely, detailed, layered Valentine’s Day Card.  The cover shows the Vintage Valentine’s Backgroundstamp which I white embossed portions of in the corners of the cover, over Pan Pastels and chalkboard paint.  I, then, decoupaged the heart ephemera off-centered onto the front of the book.   

Once the book was complete I added a junque-bow ribbon tied with one of the Prima Wood Buttons included in the kit and stuck a metal PrimaStick Pin through the knot.  I tied more ribbons and fibers to the binderrings of the book and attached one of the Prima Love Domino charms so it will dangle.

The first page was covered with Pan Pastels.  I layered the white and black Gelatos through a stencil and stamped the RomanticBackground Stamp in black ink.  I adhered a piece of the ephemera and topped it with a Prima Wood Button tied with the Antique Spooled thread.

 

I used the Pan Pastels to cover the back of the next two pages.  On page 3, I layered a heart stencil with Permanent Green Pan Pastel, outlined it with the Black Gelato and highlighted the heart with the white Gelato.  Again, I layered another piece of the ephemera, outlining it with the White Gelato and spreading the gelato out with my finger.

On page 4, I outlined a picture of the front of the Valentine’s Day card my boyfriend made me with the black Gelato, spreading the Gelato with my finger.

After adhering a picture of the inside of the card to pages 5 & 6, I made a mosaic with the black Gelato and colored each space in with the Magenta and Permanent Green Pan Pastel.

On page 7, my favorite part of the entire book, was ‘making a rock walkway”.

I free-hand cut rock shapes from white cardstock.   

I dabbed black, white and silver Gelato on each ‘rock’.

Next, I smeared the gelatos with my fingers, giving it the look of rocks.

After gluing the ‘rocks’ onto my page, I covered the rocks with Liquid Glass (Close To My Heart).

With a brown water-color pencil I filled the ‘rocks’ in with ‘dirt’, completing the walkway.

Page 8 shows a SinCity Label die-cut painted white.  I stamped the Friends stamp with the VersaMark stamp pad, which is clear.  When I sponge Permanent Green PanPastel over the stamped image, the stamp image pops out!  I doodled over the words on the stamp, “Friends are Forever”.

I really enjoyed making the next two pages in my mini-book.  

 I simply spread the PanPastels over each page using the soft tools.

To show how you can make more colors with the product that comes with the kit, I’m sharing how to tint and shade the Permanent Green PanPastel with the Black and White Gelato.  Color one end of the page with the Black Gelato and the other end of the page with White Gelato.  Using a flat paint brush and water, spread the Gelato, lightening as you move the Gelato toward the center.

This is how each color looks showing the varied colors.

Now, it’s time to watercolor with your Pan Pastels!  

 Simply shake some loose color from your PanPastels onto your page.   

With a mixture of 50% water and 50% rubbing alcohol, 

spray over page then water color your page with a paint brush.

After water coloring with the Magenta Pan Pastel on part of the page, I let it dry.  Then I repeated the process with the Permanent Green Pan Pastel on the other part of the page.  If you spray extra of the water/alcohol mixture onto your page, you can make your Pan Pastel colors drip, for yet another look on your page!

**It’s important to let each layer dry before adding a different color.   

If you add a new color before the first is dry, 

they will mix and possibly make a muddy color on your page 

rather than the distinct colors you intended to show.

Box Full Of Love

I am so excited to be embarking on a new creative journey as a member of the Sin City Stamps Design Team.  I hope you enjoy the projects that I bring to you, a mix of scrapbooking, stamping, claying, and much more.  Come along as I experiment and create with new products from Sin City Stamps (www.sincitystamps.com) & Frog Dog Studios (www.frogdogstudio.com)

I love little treasure boxes.  I found a small cardboard box (3"x3"x2") that I decided to deconstruct to create a new, better version.   With that thought in mind I gathered my materials:
1 sheet  "Music Notes" by Recollections Scrapbook paper
1 sheet textured cardstock
glue stick, pencil, & scissors
GlueDots

Trace the opened box template onto "Music Notes" paper and cut out carefully.  Cover entire back of cutout with glue stick and attach to the back of textured cardstock.  Press together adding more glue as needed.  (Please Note: the music notes should BACK to the texture)  Score fold lines into the textured side of cutout and begin to fold box.  Cuts for flaps can be made using an exacto knife OR the scissors (I find the Exacto knife to make cleaner lines).  Fold box together.  Use GlueDots to adhere flaps. 

Now you are ready to move on...

Frog Dog Studio was gracious enough to supply design team members with the February "Mixed Media Kit".  I choose the VersaMark watermark stamp pad, the Romantic Background stamp(from Sin City Stamps), and the Magenta PanPastel.    The VersaMark ink is wonderful to use with embossing powders, so I tried 2 variations: one stamped directly onto the cardstock and the other colored (first) with Magenta Pan Pastel, then stamped.  I was curious what would happen if I stamped the ink without any embossing powder and was pleased to see a beautiful, delicate image emerge!

(Note: The top image has Marcasite embossing powder applied, the middle has Pearlustre Amestyst [both by Stampendous], and the bottom image is the VersaMark all by itself). 

I used a decorative pair of scissors to cut the bottom image out.  Placed against the music box the image needed a little pop.  A bit of Magenta on a Sofft Art Sponge smudged along the edge was the perfect touch.

 

Now anyone who knows me can see that this is a bit plain for my taste.  Time to add a bit of (what else??) polymer clay and create a little dimension.  I just happened to have the perfect flower on my clay table.  A few GlueDots to the back and it is attached.

Hmmmmm, still needs a little something.  Perhaps some ribbon....punch a few holes, weave the ribbon in and out

Maybe a button...

Final touch, a card is needed.  I chose a simple message from the Romantic/vintage Ephemers Sheet, roughed up the edges a bit with a Faber Castell black Gelatos and tucked it in behind the flower. 

 

 

 

Now to make a treat for inside,but that will have to be a project for another day :-)  Have a beautiful, creative day!
