Running Horsed & Cactus Silhouette at Sunrise

 Horses are beautiful animals.

Horses running free are majestic!

This silhouette of the horses running in the desert against the setting sun is MAGNIFICENT!!

On this card I wanted to create a sunrise.  The horses running with the sunrise behind them reminds me of the OLD WEST.

I Brake for Stamps used:
Horses and Cactus Silhouette
Happy Birthday Sentiment

Stencil from Blank Page Muse
TCW554 Stencil Butterfly Collage - 6x6

Other supplies:

Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks
Squeezed Lemonade
Festive Berries
Spiced Marmalade
Scorched Timber
Blending brushes
White Cardstock
Card base
Water in Spray bottle
Staz-on Black Ink
Stamp Platform
Paper towel
Heat tool
Parchment Paper
Gems

To create the sunrise I blended my Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks: Squeezed Lemonade, Festive Berries and Spiced Marmalade on white cardstock with blending brushes or any blending tool. I started with the Squeezed Lemonade working toward the darker Festive Berries.

Using a stamping platform and Staz-on Ink I stamped the desert silhouette with the running horses. After the set I lightly spritzed the card with water and dabbed it off with a paper towel, then dried with a heat tool.  This gave the sky some interest.

For the placement of Happy Birthday, I used baking parchment paper with lines over the stamped image. This helps to see if I got the sentiment lined up. Then I stamp the sentiment on the parchment, if it is straight, I carefully remove the parchment and stamp directly on the inked panel.

After getting to this point, I found I had a smudge on my panel! I was really happy with the inking and did not want to start over.  I was up for the creative challenge... What do I do to redeem my panel.  Stencil are your friend in this instance.

Using the - Butterfly -stencil,  I gently stenciled over the smudge with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Scorched Timber and then in two other areas on the card. It looks like I intended to add the stenciling. Three black gems were added to the upper left.

The panel was then mounted on a black mat and adhered to a card base.

What do you think of my creative save?

Sunflower Dreams

Hi, friends!

It's design team member Walter back on the blog today.  Sunflowers have a special meaning for me.  They were my mom's favorite.  She grew them in her yard - a tradition that one of my sisters has kept going since mom passed away.  They're such strong, resilient, and beautiful flowers.  I wanted to feature them since they're considered a fall flower and also in loving memory of my mom.

Here's what I used to make it:

Here's how I made it:

  • Cut a piece of white card stock to 4.5"x6.5" and ink blended it with Tumbled Glass ink to create a sky.
  • Stamped sentiment towards middle of card panel with black ink.
  • Stamped dragon fly in top right corner with black ink.
  • Colored dragon fly with gel pens (purple, green, and white).
  • Stamped two sunflowers onto a scrap of white cardstock, colored them with alcohol markers, and fussy cut them.
  • Determined position of sunflowers on card panel and then hand draw & color stalks and leaves with Rustic Wilderness ink; add some yellow highlights with Squeezed Lemonade ink.
  • Use double sided tape to adhere card panel to a 5"x7" Kraft card base.
  • Adhere sunflower heads onto stalks with double sided foam tape strips.
  • Use white pigment ink and a blending brush to tap some white clouds onto the card panel.
  • Glued down three gems in upper left hand corner.
The result is a very pretty, yet simple, encouragement card.  I know that my mom would have loved it.

Thank you for spending some time here with me today.  See you again soon!

Mica Spray - You Make me Happy

Mica Spray - You Make Me Happy

Good day, fellow crafters. It's Tamara once again, with a new post where I am going to be showcasing my latest card created using I Brake for Stamps and Blank Page Muse products!

Incorporating mica sprays with embossed images can create stunning effects. They are a versatile tool that adds a beautiful shimmer and depth to your designs. When applied to embossed images, the sprays highlight the raised areas and enhance the texture, giving your cards a luxurious and dynamic appearance. The result is a captivating blend of color and shine that makes each card unique and eye-catching.

To create this project, you will need the following:

  • Blank Page Muse You Make Me Happy Hummingbird Clouds Flower

  • I Brake for Stamps Coral Sunflower (Large)

  • Cardstock - white

  • Mica Mists - Olive, Violet, Dark Blue, Peach and Fuchsia

  • Plastic tarp or splatter box (a MUST)

  • Stamping platform

  • Watermark ink

  • White Embossing powder

  • Heat Tool

  • Scissors

  • Liquid glue

  • Paper trimmer

  • A2 card base – white (4.25” x 5.5”)

To craft your card, you will need to begin with the focal image and sentiment.

  • Place white cardstock into the stamping platform

  • Align the stamp, and ink with watermark ink, and stamp the focal image. Repeat to ensure complete coverage

  • Align the stamp, and ink with watermark ink, and stamp the sentiment. Repeat to ensure complete coverage.

  • Remove the background panel from the stamping platform

  • Cover the panel liberally with white embossing powder

  • Heat set the powder with a heat tool

  • Place the embossed panel on top of a paper towel, a tarp, or in a splatter box
  • Using various colors of mica sprays, lightly mist over the design.
  • Apply enough spray to cover completely.  The embossing powder acts as a resist so don’t worry about the image
  • Allow to dry completely
  • Wipe excess from the embossed area which will brighten the image.

The last stage in the creation process is the assembly.  Trim your panel down to  4” x 5.25, which allows for a reveal, and then with liquid glue adhere it to the white A2 card base.  With that, I called the card complete.

Cactus Silhouette at Sunrise

Good morning my stamping friends! When I saw the silhouette cactus image, I knew I wanted to create a sunrise background to stamp the image on.  I love how the Oxide Inks blend creating an early morning sunrise.

I Brake for Stamps used:

Other supplies:
Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks
Squeezed Lemonade
Festive Berries
Spiced Marmalade
Blending brushes
White Cardstock
Card base
Staz-on Black Ink
Stamp Platform
Parchment Paper
Gems

First blend the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks: Squeezed Lemonade, Festive Berries and Spiced Marmalade with blending brushes.  I always start with the lightest color and work toward the darkest color.

On a stamping platform or acrylic block stamp the cactus image.  I choose to make this a sunrise, so the reddest ink is at the bottom half of the card.

To get the placement of my sentiment on straight I place parchment over the stamped image on the stamp platform.  I like using baking parchment with the lines. Then I stamp the sentiment on the parchment to see if it is straight.  Once I am happy with the placement, I carefully remove the parchment and stamp directly on the inked image.

I necessary trim the edges of the stamped cardstock and then mount on the card base. Add gems if desired.

What do you think of my desert sunrise?  Give it a try!
Until next time, Happy Stamping! ~Lyneen
