Remember when people used to get dressed up to go on vacation? You never used to see people on airplanes in pajamas and yoga pants.  I can't imagine these ladies not looking put together.  I pictured them shopping in Paris and sending a postcard to a friend back home.  

Here are the supplies you need to gather to create your own postcard.

Archival Ink in Coffee and Hydrangea

Distress Collage Medium

Let's get started!

Stamp out your main images across the postcard using Jet Black Archival ink.

Create masks, using post it notes, and stamp all over to fill in white space. 

Once you have finished stamping your background use Distress Collage Medium to apply Distress Collage Paper to various areas of the postcard. 

Add your paperdoll and color in the dresses using Distress Markers(to make sure the ink stays on the image coat your paper doll in clear gesso).   Add Distress Ink to the edges to make the postcard appear to be vintage.  Use your Stabilo pencil to add shadows around the paper doll and around the edges of the collage paper.  

Turn your postcard over and add the Script and postmark stamp to the back.  Use Distress Ink to age the paper.  Color in the postmark using Distress Ink. 

Just like that your card is complete.

It was really fun to see how many stamps I could add to the collage feel of the card.  I haven't done a masking technique in a long time and it was fun to play around with it again.

A Little Birdie Told Me

This is Karen with a spring project for you.


Sin City Stamps is teaming up with Altered Pages this month, and it was really a treat to scroll through the beautiful images from Altered Pages and to pair them up with stamps from Sin City Stamps!

I chose a beautiful bird image from Altered Pages and a gorgeous background stamp from Sin City Stamps, then added a cute phrase from Sin City Stamps.  I really prefer simple cards, so I limited the number of images I used.  But you could create any number of minimalist or elaborate combinations.

I printed Altered Pages AP 2125 - Little Spring Birdies collage sheet onto cream cardstock.

Once I chose the bird image I wanted to use, I chose some cardstock in coordinating colors.  I made test stamps with several inks on different colors of cardstock.  I knew I wouldn’t use them all for this project, but I can save the extras for later.  I chose the color combinations I thought looked best with my image.


I used the background stamp from Sin City Stamps’ Rosette Hearts set and a phrase from the
Steampunk Circus set. I decided to use the background image stamped in ColorBox Chalk Ink in Rouge on the pale pink paper and the phrase stamped in ColorBox Chalk Ink in Dark Brown stamped on the same paper, with the darker pink paper as the base.


I cut out the images.  Here is a tip.  I wanted to cut out the bird image in a way that would allow me to use the remaining images, and I wanted to cut it with a paper trimmer so the cuts would be straight.  It can be hard to tell exactly where you should put the paper in this situation, so I used a clear piece of acrylic to help me line up my image with the cutting line.  This is actually the block I used to stamp the phrase, doing double duty:


Here’s another tip.  When I cut the phrase on the paper trimmer, it was so small that it kept slipping and making a slanted cut.  I held it down with a pencil eraser to get it to stay straight.

And here’s one more tip.  It turned out I had stamped the background image at an angle, so I couldn’t
just put the paper in the paper trimmer.  So I used a clear ruler and a rotary cutter.  Here it is lined up:


Sometimes the paper slips when you use this method, and you need to add an extra sheet for thickness.

I cut a piece of cardstock for my base, scored it, and folded it in half.  Then I dragged each piece across a pad of Distress Ink in Tea Dye.  Finally, I attached all the pieces with double-sided tape.
