Toward the Sunshine

Hi, friends!

It's design team member Walter back on the blog today.  We now in that in between time of the year where summer is still trying to hold on as the cooler temps of fall are trying to move in.  It's such a pretty time of the year and I wanted to capture it visually with a color palette that shares the last vestiges of summer and the beginning of autumn.  It's an homage to the sun and all the inspiration that it brings.

Here what I used to make it:

  • Sunshine Cherub Sun Flowers Art Stamp Set
  • Distress Oxide Inks: Fossilized Amber, Antique Linen, Cracked Pistachio
  • Delicata Golden Glitz Pigment Ink
  • Pure Palette Glay Shades Pigment Ink
  • Versa Vine Clair Ink
  • Jewels
Here's how I made it:

  • Created a 6"x6" Kraft card base
  • Used the deckle edge blade on my paper trimmer to cut a 5.75"x5.75" of orange card stock and a 5.5"x5.5" white cardstock panel.
  • Used double sided tape to adhere orange card panel to card base.
  • Ink blended the background on white card panel using Fossilized Amber, Antique Linen, and Cracked Pistachio Oxide inks.
  • Decided on placement of sun on the blended panel and stamped it with Golden Glitz pigment ink.
  • Decided on placement of sentiment and stamped it on card panel with Versa Fine Clair ink.
  • Arranged floral stamps at bottom of card panel and stamped them with Glay Shades pigment ink.
  • Used a heat tool on low to ensure that pigment inks were set and then adhered card panel to base with double sided tape.
  • Glued three jewels to around the sun.
This would be such a nice card to send to someone who needs a little encouragement.  I love how the golden sun pops against the amber and linen colors, and the green florals stand so tall as they reach towards it.

Thanks for spending some time here with me today.  See you again soon!
