Imagination Mixed Media Canvas

Hi Chris here and today I am sharing my first mixed media canvas I created for Sin City Stamps. I want to say that this is so different from what I normally create but I loved the quote and I just let my imagination go!

Sin City Stamps Supplies
Die Cuts- Ballon, Frame, Flower Outline, Daisy Border Chain, Stars
Silver/Blue 1/2 Round Flat Back Embellishments

Other Supplies -  canvas, Gesso, Molding Paste, Beacon Fabric Adhesive, Glossy Accents, StazOn Ink (Brown), ColourArte Twinkling H2Os (yellow rose, sky blue, persimmon, moss green, blue bayou), miscellaneous small alphabet stamps, brown journaling pen. Graphic 45 Paper,  paper lace doily, sand paper

To create this canvas I started by first applying Gesso to my entire canvas. I then added some texture to my background by applying some molding paste over the Pattern 2 Stencil

I then added some patterned papers and die cuts onto the canvas.
I continued layering a few more dies cuts and some lace.  You'll notice that the colors don't necessarily match.  That won't matter once I am done.

In added my gear charms and bits of a paper doily and then applied gesso again over the whole project.

I then stamped my Globes Stamp using my StazOn Ink.

I then randomly painted my canvas using my ColourArte Twinkling H2Os. I just kept laying colors until I was satisfied.  I then painted my balloon with Twinkling H2Os

I then used a combination of my alphabet stamps and my journaling pen to add my quote. I topped the balloon with my butterfly button.  I then sanded my edges to smooth the edges and lightly sanded my gears to allow the metal to shine through. Once again here is my finished project. I hope you are inspired to step outside your comfort zone and create something!   Just let your imagination take you away!

Romantic Love Card

Chris here and today I would LOVE to share with you this fun romantic card perfect for your valentine!  To create this card I started with a Sin City Die Cut Tag. To dress up the tag I started by overlaying the tag with Sin City Stamps Stencil Pattern #2
I then stamped over the stencil with my Versamark ink and added Ranger Black Sparkle Embossing powder.
I then heat embossed the tag.  I place my tag on a piece of patterned paper that was matted on black card stock. I added the LOVE die cut onto the tag.  I then topped off the card with a paper rose and a die cut heart, and some Sin City Flat Back Embellishments.

Be sure to check out SIN CITY STAMPS for these and many more die cuts!!

How to dress up your Die Cuts

Hi Chris here and today I am sharing this tag I created using some these amazing die cuts from Sin City Stamps.

Supplies needed for this project include:
Sin City Stamps Supplies
Anime Fairies 2 Stamp Set
Pattern 2 Stencil
Around the House Die Cuts
Light Pink Sheer Ribbon
Mixed Flatback Embellishments (little flower)

Other Supplies: Pacon Mixed  Media Paper, Tim Holtz Sizzix #8 Tag, Tim Holtz Distress Ink- Victorian Velvet, Core'dinations Tim Holtz Card Stock, Liquid Pearls, Gesso, Gold Sharpie, Pebbles-accent greeting, ColourArte-Twinkling H2Os - Black Cherry, Beacon Fabric Tac, Toule Netting

After die cutting my tag from the mixed media paper, I gently inked my tag using my Pattern 2 Stencil .

I then stamped over the stencil using my Anime Fairies 2 Stamp Set. I then matted my tag on cardstock and set aside while I dressed up my die cut.

When I started, my background of the die cut was blue like this

I added Gesso to the blue die cut to make the chair white.  I then added a color wash using ColourArte-Twinkling H2Os - Black Cherry.  After drying,  I  added the overlay.

To dress up the die cut even more I added some "rivets" on the arm of my chair using a gold sharpie.  I then added some "buttons" to the chair back using liquid pearls.

I then added my chair to my tag and topped my tag off with a double bow (a smaller bow placed on top of the larger netting bow), and added a Mixed Flatback Embellishments (little flower) on top of the double bow. I added a sticker quick greeting and viola!  all done.

Butterfly Mother's Day Card

Hi there, Chris here today and I am sharing this Mother's Day card that is perfect for all those moms who love to garden. I was so excited to get a  new box from Sin City Stamps and  a box of goodies from ColourArte to try out that I just had to use them together!

My Supply List
Sin City Stamps Anime Fairies 2
Sin City Stamps Mask - Butterfly 3
Sin City Stamps Stencil Pattern 2
ColourArte -Radiant Gels - Indian Copper
ColourArte - Twinkling H2Os - Playful Peony, Iridescent Blue
Ranger - Multi-gloss Medium
Ranger - Distress Inks - Tea Dye, Black Soot, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint
Tsukineko - Memento Ink- Tuxedo Black
Simple Stories paper
Recollections- banners
Baker's Twine -  Doodlebug
Dictionary Page

To start off my card I traced the butterfly mask onto my paper and then fussy cut out the butterfly. I then used my Radiant Gels over the mask.  I love how the Radiant Gels shimmered and created some dimension on the wings.

I set my buttefly aside to let it dry and ripped a page out of a dictionary.  Now I must confess that the book lover in me had a terribly hard time thinking of  tearing a page out of a book, so I picked up a cheap dictionary at the local dollar store.  I used  on of the mini flowers from the Anime Fairies 2 Stamp set and stamps lots of mini flowers with the Memento Ink all over the page.

I then took out my new Twinkling H2Os and added a few drops of water to activate them.  Once they were ready to go I painted the inside of all the flowers with  the iridescent blue and then used  the Playful Peony to fill in the remainder of the flower.

I then sealed each flower with just a dab of the Gloss medium to insure the flowers wouldn't lose there color in the next step.  I then inked the background using the Pattern 2 Stencil and distress inks, layering peeled paint over the mowed lawn.

Once I had the colors to my liking I sealed over the distress inks with gloss medium. I then trimmed and matted the dictionary page to fit my card.  I added the banners and some baker's twine for the greeting.

I then returned to my butterfly and first applied the black soot distress ink an then the tea dye ink over the entire burtterfly.

I then used a towel to wipe the excess ink off the areas that had been previously painted.  The wiped right off the Radiant Gels and left the wings shining!

I then attached my butterfly to my card.  I just love how the butterfly shines.

Save The Date.. Card wth Tamiko

Happy Friday!!  Today's post is a Save The Date- card I created for my baby brother Ian and fiance Jean, for their upcoming wedding on June 14th, 2015, hence the VI- XIV- XV.   I have the Clockworks Inspired by Terri Sproul Rubber Plate and I was convinced that my first post using this stamp set WOULD NOT be a CLOCK as it is perfectly geared for.
::chuckles at pun::  Well here is the card.

Below is a picture of the supplies used to create the card front.
  • Sin City Stamps- Clockworks Inspired by Terri Sproul & Pattern 2 Stencil by Terri Sproul
  • Liquitex Matte Medium
  • Deco Art- Media Line Titanium White Fluid Acrylic and White Gesso
  • Deco Art- Americana Multi-Surface Satin- Canary, Flamingo, Iris, Deep Turquoise
  • Strathsmore 400 Series Mixed Media Paper (not seen)
  • Stazon Ink Pad-  Gothic Purple
  • Beacon 3 in  1 Adhesive
  • Stabilo ALL pencil in black
  • Misc. - brayer, paint brush, baby wipes and Tim Holtz Tissue paper (from stash not seen)

I started out with a piece of mixed media paper and some small pieces of Tim Holtz's  tissue paper.  I planned to put that on the page with the matte medium.

I then wrote some things I wished for my brother and his wife to be.  I picked this up from a great artist name Amanda Trought of Reality Arts.  To me it's almost like praying or wishing positive thoughts into the piece.. or in this case.. this milestone event.  I wish them love, patience, honesty and understanding.  I wish them so much more, but at the time, these things came to mind first.  I chose the stabilo all pencil because it is water soluble. so this will smear and fade and no longer be visible as my layers build. (smile)  But you and I know it's there.. :)  Next to it is how the page looks once I apply a little watered down gesso.  See message is gone.. but NOT forgotten.. :)

Then I began to brayer small amounts of acrylics in layers, first the canary and deep turquoise.  I dried it and added a bit of gesso because of what I wanted to be able to do with my next layer of acrylics.. this flamingo and iris that I brayered on.  Not a cute stage.. but it looks like I want it to!!

After that layers was down.. I took my Pattern 2 Stencil by Terri Sproul and a baby wipe and  rubbed  some of my layered paint off. (smiles)  A while ago I would have thought I was wasting paint, but when I think about how much I actually used, to achieve the yumminess I am about to disclose...  It's SOOO WORTH IT!!  (smile)

Then I took my Purple Gothic Stazon ink pad and inked my stamp from the Clockworks Inspired by Terri Sproul Rubber Plate .  I gently placed even pressure on the acrylic block after deciding placement of the images.

After my images were all placed and the card and my edges were all lightly inked.  I decided to use that Beacon 3 in 1 Adhesive and check it out!  Thanks again BEACON!!

The last thing I did after mounting the card front to the card base was a few quick splatters with my small round paint brush, a drop of fluid acrylic and a drop of water.  That ties in my base card with my front image.

Well I hope you like this tutorial along with a show and tell of my brothers save the date wedding card.  Don''t forget when you are shopping for stamps and supplies, you should ALWAYS have an all occasions type set that allows you to be prepared to CREATE with LOVE for those YOU LOVE.

You CAN do that shopping at SIN CITY STAMPS!
