How I Organize My BPM Stamps

Hello! Welcome back to the BPM blog. Today's post is different from usual since I am going to share how I organize my Blank Page Muse stamps. When I started as a DT member of BPM, it was my first time to work with unmounted red rubber stamps and red rubber stamps that I have to cut apart. Designing for BPM since 2023, let's say I have accumulated a lot of BPM stamps. I was keeping it inside the brown bag packaging it came in. But as my stash continues to grow, I needed a better way to store these stamps. I remember posting this question on one of my BPM posts. I did not get a feedback. Finally, I am able to figure out how to do it. All you need is a hard clear case and some time.

I am organizing the BPM Petals & Flowers Art Rubber Stamp Sheet Set which includes 18 individual stamps. It arrived with some images needing to be cut apart. As you can see on the photo below, it is an unmounted stamp with some tiny stamps included.

For my stamp storage container, I found empty Stampin Up Plastic Clear Containers at my local resell craft store. It is actually the perfect way to organize these kinds of stamps. Searching it online, the containers of this brand might cost a bit. I was just lucky not to pay that much for it. But there are cheaper options at Amazon, of course. The other option is to use a photo storage container. Smaller than the one I used but if you buy the one that comes in a big container, I think that's a good way to organize and have it all in one place.

I measured the clear container and cut a white lightweight cardstock based on this measurement. I cut two pieces. I will be stamping on both. I trimmed a sliver off the sides so I can slip it through the sleeve of the container. I positioned this paper on my stamping tool. I arranged the stamps over it. Luckily, all the stamps on this set fitted the stamping area.

I placed a Glad Press 'N Seal over the stamps. The sticky surface of this material will stick to the stamps temporarily.

I closed the door of the stamping tool and pressed the door to the Press 'N Seal to make this stick to the door.

Some of the stamps will fall off. I just put this back and pressed it back to position.

I inked the stamps. The inking does not have to be perfect. Just ink it enough that it will make an inked  impression on the paper.

Normally, I close the door of the stamping tool to the paper to transfer the inked image. This time, I closed the back side of the stamping tool (the paper side) towards the front side (the stamps side). This just prevents any stamp from falling off while closing the stamping tool door. I rubbed my hands over the back door.

To ensure that I inked it well, I flipped the stamping tool. I ran a whiteboard eraser or a stamping press tool over the stamping tool.

I also rubbed my hand over the stamping tool door. I wore a mitten to make the gliding smooth but you don't have to.

As you can see, not all of the stamps got stamped well. It's alright. I am just stamping this so I would know what stamps are inside the case. I re-stamped the images that had poor stamped impression.

I stamped the missed ones using an acrylic block instead of the stamping tool just to make it easier. I always use a washable marker to attach the stamp temporarily to an acrylic block.

As I mentioned above, I stamped the images on two different cardstocks.

Before storing the stamps, I cleaned each one. This is why you need some time when you do this type of stamp organization. I used a double scrubber pad. I spritz a stamp cleaner on one side. This is where I clean the stamp first before going to the other side to remove any excess ink and dry off the stamp.

I slipped the stamped panels to the sleeve, back to back, one facing outside and the other facing inside. I placed a Press 'N Seal on the inside of the stamp container. I matched the stamp with the stamped image on the panel that can be seen through the clear container.

Not perfect matching but enough to make me aware what stamps are inside the container and if I am missing a piece.

I labeled the container with the name of the stamp set for quick reference.

If the stamps keep falling off, you can cover that side of the container with Press 'N Seal. You can also put a double adhesive tape on the back of each stamp instead of using Press 'N Seal. This is what I did with my other stamps. But since this is a large set, I just used Press 'N Seal.

Above is another stamp container with BPM stamps that I organized. Just like with the stamp set above, I stamped these stamps on a white light weight cardstock that was trimmed to size. I adhered the stamps to the inside of the container using double adhesive tape. These stamps are not in a set so I labeled each image stamps. I was able to put a lot of stamps inside the container with some room to add more.

I hope this is helpful to you. I think that organizing our supplies makes a huge difference in crafting. It lessens the time on looking for a supply that we know we have. It also makes us aware of what supplies we own. If you have any tricks and/or tips on how you organize your rubber stamps, please share it in the the comments. We would love to hear and learn from you.

Thank you for visiting the BPM blog. I will be back on the 25th with my regular DT post.

Monochromatic Mandala Pattern Panel

Hello! Today's project features repetitive stamping to create a full panel background. This project features stamps from the Blank Page Muse Petals & Flowers Rubber Stamp Sheet Set. I hope you like it.

The two most important craft supplies to make repetitive stamping using rubber stamps a success are a stamp positioner tool and a transparent sheet. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig image sheet on my project but you can use any transparent sheet for this project. I also used a wreath template for placement guide of the cardstock panel. It keeps the paper at the center of my stamp positioner which allowed me to stamp up to and beyond the edges of the cardstock panel.

I stamped the largest image of the set on the cardstock panel. I stamped the image using brown ink on brown cardstock paper to create monochromatic look.

I positioned the transparent film on top of the cardstock panel and positioned the next stamp over the transparent film. I applied adhesive to the back of the rubber stamp using a washable glue stick.

I inked the image and stamped it on the transparent film. This gives me an idea where the image will be stamped on the cardstock panel.

Once I am happy with the stamp image placement, I remove the transparent film, re-inked the stamp and stamped the image to the cardstock. If I am not happy with the placement, I wiped off the stamped image and did the process all over again. I know it sounds like a lot of work but once you get the rhythm, it becomes very easy.

What I could have done to make it even easier is I should have cut the rubber stamps close to the image. I only realized this when I was further into making the project.

I continued stamping to create the background pattern. If you notice on the image above, one of the flowers is darker than the rest. That is how dye inks work. It looks dark at first but once the pigment gets absorbed by the paper, it fades out.

I was not happy with how the circle image turned out. I want it more centered. I must have not applied enough glue to the back of the rubber stamp that it might have shifted when I applied ink to it. I stamped the same image on another piece of cardstock since I am planning to cover it. I initially used a dye ink but later on changed this into an embossed image.

I started coloring the pattern with color pencils but the paper I used does not take the color of the pencils too well so I switched to alcohol markers. I also used different pens in coloring the pattern.

I used the small stamps in the set to fill in the open spaces. This is when I figured out that cutting the stamp close to the image is very helpful. It allowed me to estimate if the image will fit the space I want to stamp it on skipping the use of a stamp positioner on this step.

I usually clean the adhesive off the back of the rubber stamps by spritzing it with water then wiping it off with a rag. I did not do this with the small rubber stamps. I kept the adhesive so I can adhere these small stamps to the rubber sheet. Hopefully, I do not lose these small stamps by doing this. Eventually, I will need a better way to organize my rubber stamps. Do you have a crafter tip to share on how you organize your unmounted cut apart rubber stamps?

I used an embossing ink for the center stamp image and embossed this with gold embossing powder. I die cut this with a circle die and adhered it to the center of the large floral stamp covering the stamped image underneath it.

I have no plans for this panel at the moment but this can be adhered to a notecard to create a card or it can be used as an embellishment for a layout. You can also create a larger background panel using this design. I hope you give repetitive stamping a try.

Nothing But Owls

Did you know that Fall is called "Hooting Season" I have been reading up on owls, the acoustics are better this time of year as the streams are lower. It is after most fledglings have left the nest and it is time re-establish boundaries after spending so much time at the nest.  Owls are the inspiration for my cards today.

Fall Trees

Fall is one of my favorite seasons, I love the colors of the changing leaves!

The colors are so beautiful.

Today I am taking inspiration from the leaves that have been falling. I took the Bare Tree Silhouette stamp and water colored the picture with fall colors in two different cards.

My inspiration!

Stamps from Blank Page Muse:

Other supplies:
Watercolor paints
Smooth watercolor paper
VersaFine Black Ink
Clear embossing powder
Wide tip gold Sharpie
Gems
Cosmic Shimmer Gilding flakes

Stamp the images on smooth watercolor paper with VersFine black ink, heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

I love watercolors, as you can see one set is not enough!  Paint the ground in greens and browns, let dry. Then paint the sky a faint blue, let dry.

Using a mixture of reds, oranges. yellows and browns for leaves.  Do not try and paint individual leaves, add blobs of color and you will get the effect of leaves. Let each color dry before adding the next, or the colors will blend, and you will have a muddy mess.

When the watercolors are dry, along the bottom of the card place double sided adhesive as pictured.  Cover with Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes. Edge card with wide tip gold Sharpie pen. Stamp THANK YOU with black ink on the car. Add a few gems to the card. Mount the finished panel on black cardstock and adhere to the card.

The owl has leaves flying around the tree giving the effect of a blustery day. When the watercolors are dry. Edge card with wide tip gold Sharpie pen. Stamp THANK YOU with black ink on white cardstock and mount on black cardstock. Add a few gems to the card. Mount the finished panel on black cardstock and adhere to the card.

ENJOY THE FALL SEASON!
