Christmas Dress Form Card

You can make a Christmas card even if you don’t have Christmas stamps!

If you like dress forms and you frequent Pinterest, you have no doubt seen several Christmas dress forms decorated with tree branches.  If you’ve missed the trend, click here to see an example.

I decided to make a Christmas dress form on a greeting card, using an image from Sin City Stamps’ Dress Forms set.

Supplies:
Cardstock in natural and cream
Patterned paper
India ink in black (I used Stewart Superior ink.)
Watercolors
Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap and Antique Linen
Mini feather tree
Safety pin
Foam tape
Cellophane tape

I made the card base by folding an 8.5 x 11 inch piece of natural cardstock in half (finished size 5.5 x 8.5 inches).  Then I cut a piece of patterned paper about half an inch smaller in length and width,  and inked the edges with Distress Ink in Antique Linen.

I stamped the dress form image twice on cream cardstock with India ink.


When the ink was dry, I added color to the image with watercolor paints, then cut out the whole image roughly and a second corset portion closely.


I inked the edges of the complete image with Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap.

I cut some branches from a mini feather tree:



I wanted something to anchor the branches and decided to use a safety pin.  I bent over the end of each branch and hooked each onto the safety pin:


Here’s what it looked like when all the branches were in place:


I trimmed the branches and then secured them with a piece of cellophane tape.  Here’s what the front looked like at that point:


I adhered the branches to the dress form image with a piece of foam tape.



Then I adhered the extra corset image over the main image with two pieces of foam tape stacked on top of each other.  This makes it look like the branches are tucked under the corset.


 I adhered the patterned paper to the card and the dress form to the patterned paper with double sided tape.  I printed out my sentiment on cardstock, cut it out, inked the edges with Distress Ink in Antique Linen, and adhered it to the patterned paper with double sided tape.
