Hello Hello
It's Kim today. This month we are playing with Christmas using non traditional colors. So, I went pink with lots of dots for my art journal page.
I used our red rubber stamps, Noel and Holly Topiary, both from our I Brake for Stamps/Embossing Arts collections.
These are the actual red rubber stamps. Here are sample photos of what I like to say are our naked stamps! Just red rubber, no wood mounting or cling cushion. It is easy to stamp using double stick tape on your acrylic block if you like. We do offer cling cushion for your convenience, just select that option at checkout.
The background started with a pink watercolor wash, then dried with a heat tool.
In the background you can see some flower flake shapes, I used our
Butterflies & Flowers layering stencil and
Fantasy Flourish stencil to build some texture. I used white gesso and make up sponges to apply the layers. I added some pink acrylic paint to the gesso to stencil some shades of pink flowers as well. They kinda strike me like snowflakes.
I used the stars from our Celestial Moon & Stars stencil with modeling paste. Then a yellow acrylic marker for some color.
Noel is stamped with Stazon in black on heavy watercolor paper. I love the texture of watercolor paper, it has lots more character. It is just Michaels Artist's Loft paper nothing too fancy or pricey.
The Holly Topiary is also stamped using Stazon Black on the same watercolor paper. I colored the stamp using acrylic paint makers. The red acrylic covers the black dots for the berries on the stamp. I did a fast not fussy coloring of the stamp.
Lastly I tore old book pages for some border textures to kind of frame the page. I fingerpainted using Golden High Flow Acrylic in Transparent Yellow Iron Oxide for the yummy golden stain. That paint is so nice, I love it! It's the only color I have in it.
Thank you so much for supporting our mom & pop shop. Happy Holidays!
Kim
