Adding Windows to an Art Journal

Hello! Welcome back to the Blank Page Muse Blog. I have been creating Halloween themed projects for this month. This is my last of 3 posts with this theme. If you have missed the first two, below are links to the posts:
Today's project is an art journal page. The art journal entry above is a multi-page. With the first photo, you will think that it is just one page. Flip the first page brings you to a different layout look. Flip this second page and you end up with the last photo which can pretty much can be a layout by itself.

To create this multi-page art journal, I adhered the skull stamp to an acrylic block using a washable glue stick.

Before inking the stamp, I used a stamp positioner which will come to use if I need to reink and restamp the image.

I inked the stamp with a denim blue dye ink.

I butted the acrylic block to the stamp positioner and stamped the image to the page.

After stamping the image to the page, I used the residual ink to stamp the image to a Post-it.

I fussy cut the stamped image. This will serve as a mask. I kept the negative cut for later use.

I covered the stamped image with the fussy cut mask making sure that the mask is aligned with the stamped image.

I inked the background stamp with the same color of dye ink.

I placed the inked background stamp directly to the page with the masked skull face.

I did not use an acrylic block but you can. I used a brayer instead to press the inked image to the paper. I could also just use my fingers to press and rub the stamp.

This is how the page looks with the stamped background on the masked skull image.

Now, for the reveal. It always feels like a Christmas morning when I remove a mask to reveal the image underneath.

I used the negative cut of the mask to cover the stamped background so I can blend the same color of dye ink to the stamped skull.

To create the window pages, I used Halloween decorative tapes from my craft stash.

I used a craft knife to cut off a window on the page. I have a craft mat on the back of this page to protect the next page from getting cut.

I did the same thing to the page in front, adding the tape then trimming the center out. The decorative tape I used on this page is wider than the one on the second page. If you don't have different widths of tapes, you can add another strip of tape to the one on the page just like what I did on the second page.

I used a skinny tape to frame the stamped background on the last page.

I hope you like today's project.
