Stepping Up Silhoutte Stamps

Hello! Welcome back to the BPM blog. I am featuring the Blank Page Muse Wildflower Silhouette Border Style Red Rubber Stamp this month. This is my second post using this stamp on a card. Please visit the other post, Silhouette Stamp with Acrylic Markers, if you are interested.

On this card, I created a blended background on a white cardstock using dye inks with spring colors. Don't we all wish it to be spring? I don't know on your neck of the woods but here at St. Louis, it can be 70 degreess one day and drop to 40s the next day. Brrr!

I used a blender brush on applying each color to the white cardstock. I applied the colors with a light hand to avoid creating harsh lines which sometimes cannot be avoided. I went back and forth in between the colors to create a smooth transition between the colors.

I flicked water droplets on the blended ink panel. I should have flicked the water as soon as I am done with ink blending, while the inks are still wet. My mistake is that I set the panel aside before doing this step. The dried ink did not react to the water which would have not been the case if I did it sooner.

I positioned three hexagon dies on the panel, securing it with a less tacky tape. I die cut these hexagons and set it aside.

I applied washable glue on the back of the red rubber stamp.

I pressed the stamp positioner on the red rubber stamp.

I used the negative panel as a guide to position the hexagons on the stamping tool. I removed this panel once the hexagon die cut is in place.

I inked a portion of the wildflower stamp and stamped it on the hexagon die cut. I used a dark brown dye ink for the stamping. I stamped the image twice for a crisp look.

I repeated the step on the other hexagon die cuts.

I moved the the hexagon die cut so it will have a different focal point on the hexagon die cut when it is stamped.

To step these hexagons up a notch, I added embossing details to it using an embossing folder.

This detail will pretty much offset the open space on the largest hexagon die cut.

I add liquid glue to the back of the hexagons.

I adhered the hexagons on a speckled cardstock cut at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". To tie up with the hexagon die cuts, I embossed this panel with a hexagon embossing folder. I also flicked some brown stain on this panel, flicking it opposite the diagonal line created by the die cuts.

I adhered iridescent butterfly sequins to the panel and embossed sentiment strips. These iridescent sequins are great as it captures the color of the background giving it a different look depending on how you tilt it.

I hope you like today's project. This is another great way to stretch those silhouette stamps. Lots of texture created with those embossing folders.
