Hello, crafty friends!! Today, I have a birthday card that's fun and comes together quickly thanks to the Special Day Clear Sentiments Birthday Stamp Set, available only at Blank Page Muse. This one layer card has balloons and a rainbow of festive streamers. Follow along as I recreate the card.
First, I stamped several balloons onto a piece of masking paper. I wasn't sure how many balloons I was going to use, so I made more than I needed. Masking paper is used to mask off an image when you're going to place something that you want to appear behind it.
This sentiment was stamped in the bottom middle of a landscape-oriented, A2 panel of Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110lb cardstock. This is pretty much the only white cardstock that I use. It is great for stamping, inkblending, and Copic coloring.
I ended up stamping three balloons on the panel, above the sentiment. The first is exactly in the middle. In design, it's good to use odd numbers of objects in your projects. It is more pleasing to the eye than even numbers.
As you can see, the balloons are masked. I repeated the streamers stamp by overlapping them. I did the primary colors first: red on the left, yellow in the middle, then blue on the right. By doing this, I made sure I would have enough room for my rainbow pattern.
Finished card. You can see that, once I removed the masking paper, the streamers appear to be behind the balloons. I colored them in with Copic markers and added a small white highlight with a white gel pen. I used a light blue ink and inkblended around the edges to add interest. This sweet card came together quickly. I don't know about you, but I never have enough Birthday cards!
