A Boho Woman's Mail Art!

Hello BPM Stampers!!!
I'm back for another creative make to finish off the month!

Today I've decorated an envelope and it's nice & quick & easy so no excuses for not having a go!
A perfect way to send your postcards that you may have played along with this month here at the blog!
Supplies:
Blank Page Muse Stamps: Boho Celestial Star Girl
Envelope - any size
Chalk Paints & White Gesso
Black Archival Ink Pad & Distress Ink Pad
Markers/Pencils/Smooch Metallic Paint etc.
Spatula
Instructions:
Start with an envelope of your choice and use a spatula to "smear" different colour chalk paints - cover the front and back if you like!

Before stamping the main image use the spatula to smear a thin layer of Gesso to the bottom left corner to dull the coloured paint and allow the image to be more prominent. Allow to dry before stamping! Use the Black Archival Ink and stamp the Boho girl in the bottom corner.

Use the Distress ink in a soft tone to stamp one of the "flowers" from the Petals & Flowers stamp set to form a border around the edge of the envelope. You can do the same to the back of the envelope as well if you like! Use a few markers to highlight some of the stamped Boho Girl along with some metallic "Smooch" to highlight her jewellery. Allow to dry.

Hope you enjoy!

Dream Journal Page

Hello! I love working in my journal and I wish I would take the time to do it more than I do, there is something about working in a journal that seems to calm me.

I usually seem to work in my journal when I am trying to work out a project or problem to create something larger. This page was more to play with some ideas that are forming in my head!

Supplies
Unknown grungy marks stamp
Journal
Journal card
Black embossing powder
Ranger Archival Ink Jet Black, Plum, Sepia
Versamark ink

Sharpie marker black
Blending tool

First of all, using the long grungy stamp, stamp with Versamark ink and emboss in black. Then using Blank Page Muse Stamps, the Tread stamp along the edge of the embossed area and then randomly stamped the Script around the page.

Using the plum and sepia archival inks and the blending tool, cover the page with color. Stamp the Bird on Barbed Wire stamp onto the journal card and emboss it. Cut down the card to approximately 2” x 2” then emboss the edges with black. Run the Versamark around the edges to emboss.
Take the Sharpie pen and make some marks along the edge of the page that looks like stitching.

The journal page is finished!

Tips – If you don’t have a grungy stamp to use for the middle of the page, just run the edges of your Versamark ink pad down the middle of your page and heat emboss.

Pop-up Butterflies in your Art Journal

Hello! The technique this month is things that move.
I have made a beautiful 2 page spread in my art journal with butterflies
 >Popping!< out as soon as I open the book!
Isn't it beautiful?

Here's how I made this...

Other supplies used:
  • Journal Page
  • Any patterned paper
  • Distress Markers - Spiced Marmalade, Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn
  • Gelatos - Buttercream, Bubble Gum, Cotton Candy
  • Gesso
  • texture paste
  • Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Layered Bricked Stencil, 4.125 x 8.5
  • Lindy's Stamp Gang Spray Ink - Red Hot Poker Orange
  • Versafine Black Ink Pad
  • Ranger Glossy Accents
  • Black Pigment Marker
  • White Cardstock

Begin by stamping the butterflies on the patterned paper.
When dry, fill in the wings with Ranger Glossy Accents. Put that aside to dry.

Scribble all over your journal page with Gelatos. Use a wet brush and some gesso to blend.
Add some highlights with gesso and bubble wrap.

One dry, use a stencil and texture paste to add the brick pattern. Allow that to dry thoroughly before moving on.

Stamp the flowers at the base of the page and color with markers. Stamp the sentiment on white cardstock. Spray the bricks with the Lindy's Stamp Gang Spray Ink.

Cut ou the butterflies and color in the bodies with a black pigment marker if necessary. Fold a few strips of cardstock as below and attach to the back of the butterflies.

Splatter the page with the Lindy's Stamp Gang Ink and allow to dry. Glue your butterflies in place.

You are now finished your journal page!

Here are some close ups of that beautiful texture.

Look how those butterflies pop off the page.

Dragonfly Mini Art Journal Page

Hello Blank Page Muse Fans!  Today, I thought I would share a mini art journal page that was recently added to my Bullet Journal.  This is a 8.2" X 5.5" format size, so the design could be used on an over-sized card as well, or expanded into a full sized 8.5 X 11 page with room to add more stamped dragonflies.

Supplies:
8.2" X 5.5" notebook page
Dragonfly Stamp
Flower border
Happiness Blooms from Within Sentiment Stamp
United Rings Stamp from Hearty Doodles set
Black Pigment Ink
White Pigment Ink
Clear embossing Powder
Distress Crayons [Gelatos or similar water based ink can work, in this case Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers by Tim Holtz Distress Oxides were used]
Brush [A watercolor brush with it's own reservoir was used in this case]
Water

Instructions:
1. Scribble a mid-range green Distress Crayon across the top of your blank page filling in half of the page.  Taking your blue, scribble from the bottom to the middle of the page. Overlap a bit in the center.

2. Using your brush and some water, brush across the page, blending the crayons and diluting the colors.  Pull edge to edge, drawing out the color to the paper borders.  It should look like a light wash of color framing the heavier colored center. Once  it's all blended out, allow to dry.

3. Once dry, stamp out corner (upper left) to opposite corner (bottom right) in black pigment ink the flower border and emboss.

4. Stamp Sentiment with black pigment ink centered on page, then embossed.

5. Stamp the dragonfly on the left side, near the text and the flowered border stamp. Emboss with the clear powder.

6. Inking up with white pigment ink, stamp the Linked-Circle stamp a bit randomly, filling in some of the negative space and open areas.  Emboss using the clear embossing powder.

I found this page was super easy and an inspirational way to enjoy the beginning of the summer months.

Adding Partial Dimension

Hi everyone! Charlotte here, and today I am sharing a card that is almost one layer, with just an added touch of selective dimension. I've shared this technique on another card here on the blog before, which you can find here. This time I have a more summery take on it.

Blank Page Muse products used:
Tall Tropical Drink with Umbrella Line Art by Pam Bray
Beach Phrases Sentiment Collection

(Shop now and save! Use code BPMDtCharlotte2019 to save 15% off your total order!)

Other materials:
White card base
White card snippet
Black ink
Stamping tool or acrylic block
Alcohol markers
Foam tape (or an action wobbler)

Instructions:
Stamp the Tall Tropical Drink with Umbrella onto the card base and then restamp the umbrella part onto a snippet of white card. Stamp one of the Beach Phrases sentiments onto the card base beside the image.
Using alcohol markers color in the image on the card base. Also add grounding below the image.
Color the umbrella on the snippet of card using the same colors as were used on the umbrella on the card base. Fussy cut the umbrella out.
Place foam tape, or an action wobbler, onto the back of the umbrella and attach it into position on the card base.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post! This design could work really well without the added dimension, as just a one layer card. Adding the dimension to the umbrella just gives a little extra fun, which can really be amped up by using an action wobbler instead of foam tape. I had planned to use a wobbler for my card but I must be out as I could not find them in my stash. I hope you'll give this technique a try, and I'd love to see what you make!
