Steampunk Winged Wisdom Postcard

Stephanie here and I can't wait share my Steampunk Winged Wisdom Postcard. I have had a fondness for steampunk as long as I can remember. This Vintage Steampunk Gentleman with Wings stamp is so detailed and gorgeous! I know most usually use muted browns and such to color vintage images but I love color...lots of color and wanted to make this postcard vivid. So lets get started!

Blank Page Muse Stamps used:

Other products used:
Tim Holtz Distress Oxides
Tim Holtz Stencils
Watercolor Paints
Waterbrush
Fine Liner Pen

Directions:

First of all I must say I think this stamp doesn't need any enhancement at all. All the fine details in this Vintage Steampunk Gentleman with Wings are absolutely amazing!! That being said I just had to add some color :) I stamped this handsome fellow on watercolor paper.

The next step I stenciled the background using Tim Holtz stencils and Distress Oxides.

To give the image a more aged look I spritzed the background with water and used a paper towel to lift some of the ink.

I added stenciled purple splat on top of the green. Again I spritzed the purple and lifted color. I also added some purple ink to the edges of the postcard.

Here are a few close up shots of this dapper gentleman gracing this vibrant vintage postcard.

I added a quote around the edge of the edge of the card because I wanted the winged gentleman to be the focus. I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and are inspired to make your own!
