Skeleton Valentine Shaker

For those that have a more wicked sense of romance and like Steampunk,
here is a Valentine shaker for you!

Supplies:
Red, pink and glossy white card stock
Piece of clear plastic
Embossing powder
Decorative paper
Fine and chunky glitter
Black Archival Ink and Versamark ink
Frame shaped dies
Colored inks in pink and violet
Blending Brushes
Clear adhesive
Foam tape
Red glitter glue
Assorted embellishments

Instructions

1. Cut two matching card bases 4¼"  x 5½" with the red card stock and cut one matching decorative velum (or decorative paper that matches the red).
2. Use your frame dies or hand cut your window.

3. Adhere the clear plastic to the back the shaker frame.
4. Using the black archival ink, stamp out the various shaped hearts and the Skeleton.  Color the hearts with the inks, then using Versamark ink and powder, emboss them.  Fussy cut out all the stamped images.

5. Arrange the stamped images.
Center the Skeleton first along the bottom of the frame, and arrange the hearts alongside and above.
Don’t be afraid to layer the hearts for depth.
I ended up cutting a few extra hearts out of black paper and other scraps, but it’s up to you how many to put on.

6. Once the frame is arranged, add fine glitter (gently, don’t overdo it) with clear glue.
Also you can fill in the hearts and the empty spaces with glitter glue.

7. When your frame is drying, set it aside.
Meanwhile, take the backing paper (red) and attach the decorative (translucent) paper onto it
with clear glue.

Front frame with the back sheet and decorative paper element.
8. Now we get to set up the shaker part of the card!
Get double-sided foam tape and carefully cut several strips, lining the edges of the card.
You can double the thickness of the foam tape to make a deeper shaker if you need to.
Make sure the foam edges meet snugly at the corners, or you’ll leak glitter everywhere.

9. Lightly dust anti-static powder on the top side of the clear plastic window and set it aside.
Fill up the space in between the foam tape frame with chunky glitter, not too fine.
Then put the clear plastic window, powder side facing inward, onto the double-sided foam tape frame.
Press firmly along the edges to adhere the foam tape to the window, sealing it up tightly.
Give it a test shake to make sure there are no leaks.

10. Add accent pearls and snip the edges of the cards.
Give it a final shake to make sure it’s all firmly sealed. And it’s done! Have fun shaking it up!
