Live Carefree & Fearless Card

Hello Sin City Fans,
For those who love shabby chic & vintage, then my card has everything you could want.
Incorporating a sewing theme, lace, flowers, & birds make this card rustic yet feminine.
Come follow me and I will show you just how I did it.

Supplies:

1. Inhale Exhale Art Stamp Set (Sin City Stamps)
2. Dress Forms Steampunk Rubber Stamp Set (Sin City Stamps)
3. Flower & Bird Sketches Art Rubber Stamp Set (Sin City Stamps)
4. watermark ink pad / brown & black ink pad
5. embossing powder (white, black, & magenta)
6. heat gun
7. pattern paper scrap
8. paper edge distressing tool
9. acetate & permanent black ink pad
10. pearl domes
11. lace & trim

Directions:
1. Trim 1/2" off the vertical edge of the card front.  Adhere a piece of lace to the edge of the inside of the card. Distress the edge of a 5.5" square of patterned paper and then distress a matching solid paper.  Attach a third coordinating paper to a 6x6" card base.  Layer the two distressed papers offset as shown.

2. Use watermark ink to stamp the dressform onto a scrap, apply white embossing powder, and heat set.  Carefully, cut out the bodice and discard the base.

3.  Next, use permanent black ink to stamp the base onto acetate and trim.  Attach the base to the back of the bodice using dimensional foam tape.

4. Stamp the sentiment in the upper right corner of the card.  Use watermark ink, apply magenta embossing powder, and heat set.

5. Next, stamp the flying bird onto a scrap of brown cardstock and carefully cut out.  Adhere the dressform and bird to the card.

6. Stamp three feathers onto cardstock using watermark ink, apply white embossing powder, & heat set. Cut out the feathers and adhere them fluttering down to the lower right corner.

7. Finally, embellish the card with a random scattering of pearl domes.  Add a piece of trim folded casually near the dressform. Apply brown distress ink to the edge of the cardfront.

Make a Wish...

Hello Everyone!!
Can you believe we are nearly halfway through the year already??
Today I am sharing an inspiring journal page using a couple of stamps from a very versatile set available at the Sin City Store!!
Hope you enjoy the process of creating this page.

Supplies:
  • Sin City Stamp Set: Dandelion Wishes With Butterflies
  • Acrylic Paints
  • Archival Ink
  • Stencil
  • Pastel Crayons and/or watercolour crayons
  • Tools: sponge, old credit card, old lids of various sizes, bubble wrap etc.

Instructions:

1. We need to get some colour on the page. Choose 2 or 3 co-coordinating acrylic paint colors and add "blobs" of these randomly over the page. You can Gesso you page background if you wish - for this page I chose not to add Gesso.

2. Use your old credit card and drag the paint over the page. Make sure you cover the edges and smooth out all the paint. Remember we do not want to end up with a "muddy" look - it is more effective when you can still see the distinct colors on the page.

3. Because the paint has been smoothed out and the excess dragged off it shouldn't take too long to dry. A handy tip to use the excess paint on the credit card is to drag the paint over another page or envelope for mail art or index card and you are one step ahead for making another creation with a background all ready done!

4. Using a stencil and one of the colors you used on the background lightly sponge over the stencil with the paint. For this creation stenciling has been done in the top corner and opposite bottom corner. It is entirely up to you where to place your stencil. So many different effects can be achieved with stencils.

5. To add more marks on the page use a one of the other paint colors and use bubble wrap to add more co lour and interest to the page. It's great to be able to recycle items for adding interest to your journal pages!

6. Choose some pastel markers or water soluble crayons and add some detail to the page. For example as shown below make some corner edges/borders, outline some of the stenciling and even colour some of the stenciling.

7. Using some white acrylic paint and some old lids of various sizes print some circles over the page to add yet another layer to the page. You don't need a lot of circles just some subtle interest.

8. Finally using the same white paint and a different stencil, the one used here has a small pattern which is good for toning down the background color in the middle of the page.

Allow all the layers and paint etc. to dry completely before finally adding your chosen Sin City Stamps to finish the page!

I chose three stamps from the Dandelion Set - a sentiment, dandelion and dandelion petals.

Now the finished page - so soft and subtle:

Hope you have enjoyed my post today - this is something you can achieve in a morning - always great to complete something in a day!!!

Good Morning!

Today we wanted to share a closer look at the brand new stamps released by Sin City Stamps this week! There are four amazing new designs by 3 very talented artists!

Our first set is a vintage inspired set called "Correspondence" designed by Katy Leitch. We think these stamps will serve you well to make postcards and art journal pages, in addition to greeting cards.

This stamp sheet is just about 6 inches by 8 inches. The red rubber stamp sheet is un-cut and un-mounted.
The longest pen is 5.25 inches by 1/2 inch. The pen nibs block is 4 inches wide by 1 inch tall at one end to 3 inches tall at the other end. The ink bottle is 2 inches by 1.50 inches. The text block is 2 3/4 by 3 inches.

Our next stamps are designed by Pam Bray! They are called Background Grunge and Background Roses. These stamps were created from hand made drawings by Pam. These are awesome texture builders for any mixed media project and cards in many styles.

Background Grunge is just about 6 inches by 8 inches and un-cut and un-mounted red rubber.
The largest solo rose is about 1 inch by 1.25 inches. The distressed chevron slice is 3/4 inch by 3 inches. The grungy honeycomb slice is almost 4.5 inches long and 3/4 inch wide.
The circles texture is about 4 inches by 2 inches. The grungy brick wall is about 3 3/4 inches by 2 inches. The fancy swirls is about 3 inches by 2 inches. The grungy honeycomb block is about 2.25 inches by 2.5 inches.

Background Roses is a 4 inch by 5 inch background stamp, un-mounted.

Our last release this week is another fabulous hand drawn illustration created by Rick St Dennis. This is a spooky twist on Hear no Evil, See no Evil....called DriBonez.

The skulls are offered in two sizes on the same un-cut un-mounted sheet. The larger skull is about 2.5 inches by 2 inches. The smaller ones, 1 inch by 3/4 inches. The long bones borders are 5 inches by 3/4 inch. The corner bones are about 2.5 inches by 1 inch.
