Spread Your Wings tag

Happy Friday!!! It is hard to believe this is my last DT project for this term with SinCityStamps.  I have enjoyed creating  and sharing design projects with everyone!  I hope to be back for another term next year as a designer for SinCityStamps.

For my last project, I decided that we should make a tag that uses the SinCity Wings stamp set that can be purchased from http://www.sincitystamps.com.
Supplies List:
  • facade (surface): used a #10 size manila tag ( 4 1/8 in by 8 1/2 in), sheet of Kraft Core paper and manilla cardstock
  • distress ink: gathered twig
  • archival ink: black, watering can and potting soil
  • embellishments: Chit Chat stickers, Label Letters, metal brads and a embellishment assortment
  • trimmings: hemp cord
  • tools: craft sheet, mister, heat tool, scissors, ink blending tool, and ripper
  • stamps used: SinCity Wings stampset
Step 1: The first step in this project is to determine the background; which is the base to any project for me (as you have came to learn from previous projects).  We will take the plain #10 manila tag and cover it with a coat of distress ink.  I chose to use gathered twig but any color can be used when completing this effect.
Step 2: Now that you have the background of the tag started lets create the water drop effect onto the surface of that.  Take a water mister and squirt water into the palm of your hand.  Then flick the water onto the tag.
Once you have splattered the tag with water take a heating tool and dry the tag.  This will give you a really cool splatter effect.  If you still have water splotches on the tag you can use a rag (or paper towel) to blot it off the tag.
Step 3: Then take the background stamp from the SinCity Wing stamp set and using potting soil archival ink stamp this centered into the tag.

Then take the lace border stamp and place that above and below the stamped image to finish the background.
Step 4: We are going to take the wing stamp using watering can archival ink and stamp that onto cream cardstock.
Step 5: Then we will take our scissors and cut out the stamped image.  We will attach this to the card using pop dots as shown below as placement on the tag.
Step 6: We are going to now take black archival ink and stamp the lock into cream card stock.
Then we will take our scissors and cut out the stamped image. Then take the gathered twig distress ink blending tool and darken the edges.  To attach this to the card use pop dots as shown below for placement.
Step 7: We are going to continue on with the tag by layering on embellishments and accents pieces.
Here is how I chose to accent my tag with adding word sayings using label letters & chit chat stickers onto kraft core paper.

I placed the stickers on the Kraft Core then cut out the saying leaving enough room to rough up the edges with the ripper.  An to darken up the edges with gathered twig distress ink using a blending tool.

We will now continue with adding embellishments and accent items to finish off our tag.
Step 8: Final step will be to take the edge ripper and rough up the edges.  Then using gathered twig distress ink dirty up the edges.

Thanks for checking out my project and if you don’t have the SinCity Wings stamp set in your stash be sure to add them today.  Check out the store today there are such great stamps, stencils and products that you can chose from that will be great additions to your home.

  1. Fabulous tag, Trent! Love the background because it works so well with your embellishments and all those details.
