Who can believe it's already September?

Here in Australia I am looking forward to the warm weather arriving as soon as possible.
- I am so over Winter LOL!

As you know our theme here at the Blog is "Back to School" for those of you who have kids returning to school after Summer Holidays!!!

I hope you enjoy the altered quirky "ink pot" character tags I have to share today - I think they are fun and would make good bookmarks for kids to use at school!

Supplies:

• Blank Page Muse Stamp Set: Correspondence Pens, Ink & Postage Art
• Blank Page Muse Stamp Set: Fairytale Fantasy Figures
• Black & White Embossing Powder
• Embossing Ink Pad
• Manilla Tags: Size used for this creation 6cm x 12cm
• Scraps of Gelli Printed Card
• Old Puzzle Book Pages
• Acrylic Paint
• Collage Paper Doll Elements: used for this creation Art Tea Life "Little Paper Dolls"
• General Supplies: scissors, glue, heat gun
• Embellishments: washi tape, muslin cloth, string, wool, sticky mesh

Instructions:
Start by gathering your supplies so you have everything at hand - these are really quite simple to make even though there are a few "layers" and "elements" to them!

Start by making your little paper doll ink pots! Stamp the "Swan Ink" pot into your Gelli prints with embossing ink and heat emboss with the black powder. Fussy cut the stamped ink pot.

Next step is to cut out your paper doll elements. Use here are little round faces with "hair" and a bow along with some legs! Glue them all together. LOL too cute!

Next step is to prepare the tags ready to add your little Ink Pot Characters. Using the pages from the puzzle book or any text book or old school book cover the entire tag using a glue stick. You can fold the edges over and glue to the back for a neat edge or just trim around the tag once dry.

Use 2 colours of paint for each tag and use a spatula to spread a very thin layer over the tags. Use paint colours that match your ink pot backgrounds. Allow to dry.

Use your choice of stamps from the Correspondence Set to cover the tag backgrounds. Use your embossing ink pad and the white embossing powder.

Add some fibre/wool to the tops of the tags along with some torn washi tape, bits of sticky mesh and muslin cloth. Tag backgrounds are now complete and ready to add the Ink Pot Paper Doll collages!

Adhere your little paper doll characters to the tag backgrounds and you have the completed tags!

The "3"Evils...

Hi Everyone!

Today I am sharing a really quick multiple tag creation - great for Halloween next month!!

Hope you enjoy the process!

Supplies:

• Sin City Stamp Set: DriBonez Skulls & Bones Borders (Rick St Dennis)
• Pre Printed/Painted Set of 3 Packing Tags (Gelli Plate Printed Tags used here)
• Black Archival Ink Pad
• Kraft Coloured Paper/Card
• Collage Witch's Hats (Lisa's Altered Art Collage Sheet used here)
• Sewing Machine
• String
• Muslin Cloth
• General supplies: scissors, glue, printer & spare kraft colored paper

Instructions:

Firstly Stamp the larger set of "See No Evil, Hear No Evil & Speak No Evil" Skulls from the set with Black Archival Ink onto Kraft colored paper or card and fussy cut.

Fussy cut three collage witch's hats from the collage sheet and adhere to the skulls. Don't they look cute LOL!!!

Use a set of 3 packing tags/manila tags which have been pre printed with acrylic paint. I used a Gelli Print - if you don't have anything on hand grab some paint and a brayer and cover the tags!

Use your sewing machine to "zigzag" a border around the edge of the tags to give a finished look.

Add some string/twine to the top of each tag as shown below. Using some scrap Kraft paper and your computer print the "see no evil", "hear no evil" & "speak no evil" phrases and then tear around them ready to adhere to the tag. Cut 3 pieces of scrap muslin cloth.

Arrange all of your elements onto the set of 3 tags in order - layer the muslin cloth, skulls and wording to complete and glue everything to the background.

I love how this turned out and hop you might give it a go with some of your Sin City Stamps!!

With the little Witch's hats you can make any image a spooky Halloween themed creation!

USING YOUR GELLI PLATE AS A STAMP!!

How would you like to use your Gelli Plate like a stamp?  It is such a fun way to Gelli!!

This month, the design team was given a 3"x5" Gelli Plate to use.  What a fun size to play with!  You can put it on an acrylic block and stamp with them!  Stamping color blocks that are 3"x5" is cool, but what if you added punchinella or a stencil on top?  AWESOME HAPPENS!!

I made 2 cards with my Gelli Plate and my Halloween Bingo Stamp Set.

~You've Got "Pretty Mail"~

How special to send a letter in a lovely envelope that you have created! By using the  Kreate-A-Lope by GreenSneakers you can create a fabulous envelope in no time at all! I had so much fun, it is so easy and they look so professional! 

~Supplies~

Kreate- A-Lope Envelope template

Gelli Plate for creating your designed paper

Brayer

Asst acrylic paints

White copy paper

SinCity "Love of Butterflies" rubber stamp

Embossing ink

Embossing  Powder (glitter)

Heat gun

  I started by adding paint to the Gelli Plate and spreading it around with the brayer. In the paint I stamped some of the butterfly stamps and then applied the paper pushing down firmly to create a good clear mono print.

  Here you have the outside template that creates the envelope shape.

 Place the template over the patterned paper,line up and tear around the edges.

 To get the shape you then fold the paper (print side down) around the inside template

 The envelope is then designed further with  the SinCity stamps. 

Because of the fact that there is allot of colored area I took white paint and smudged a small area so it can be  easily addressed .

 For a final touch I added some random stamped butterflies in purple ink and then embossing ink onto the butterfly stamp,applied embossing powder (glitter)  and then heated it with the heat gun.

The added touch of the embossing powder just made the envelope pop with sparkle and shine!

What a beautiful surprise to find in your mailbox~ fun to send and wonderful to receive!

"Fly With Your Creative Muse"

Yes ...we all have that sweet little creative muse within us that whispers to us when we are playing with our imagination "out loud" on the paper in front of us. It isn't necessarily what we see... but what we feel when we look at something. I started this project without a "plan" and just relied on my "creative muse" as I went along. Remember those "ink blots" where we would interpret  the ink blot and share what we had seen on the page.. well, this is the same idea and I love the way this project evolved!

Asst. acrylic paints

White copy paper

Brayer ( to spread the paint around)

Gel Medium Matte

I started by using my Gelli plate to create the background but with one twist... I took the ComposiMold masks ( above) I had made for the  last DT blog post, and applied them on the plate. It then blocks the paint from attaching to the paper therefore creating a  "mask". I also applied the rubber stamp " Love of Butterflies" by SinCity Stamps.

Apply acrylic paint onto the Gelli Plate and spread with the brayer. Lay the ComposiMold  mask on top of the paint to create a "mask" or empty space with that shape on the paper.

Above is the print I created and then spent some time looking at it before I "felt" what I thought was there on the page waiting to come through. I then used another background to complete my "vision".

 Small butterfly stamps where randomly stamped with purple ink to create a bit of texture also.

 What I felt or saw in that white space that was created by the ComposiMold mask was a beautiful bird with some fancy feathers!

I cut long oval shaped feathers from the other sheet of background paper  I created and glued in place to create long flowing feathers.

  I then used my TomBow markers to create shadows ,highlights and to outline the shapes. Along with some deep yellow for the beak and the feet.

  The bottom "masked space" I turned into a free form flower using the TomBow's to color in the flower and added some stamens with the Pitt Pen. I finihsed off the whole print with the matte medium gel and it gave a nice finish to the page.

I love when an artistic creation is made by what one feels or sees when  our imagination is used and we are guided by our creative muse! And having that fun heart shaped spot that appeared on the print put a smile on my face! Let your creative muse "fly" and Enjoy!
